| '76 Fic Strikes Back!!! |
[28 May 2009|02:36pm] |
So, since the Contest seems to have died with *my* topic (which I would very much like to have answered, by the way, nudge, nudge, wink, wink), I'd like to try to breathe some life back into it. Though this isn't really an entry, as it's not even on the right community for them, I thought it might provide a little inspiration for the fandom. On with the show!
Title: House Calls Author: comrade_sir Rating: Probably R, as there is some dalliance with a minor, though the action does not go all the way Pairing: Rutledge/Hall, of sorts Background: So, while tooling around on the Internet, my dear friend and I found out that after being excused from the ministry in CT for "charges against his moral character," our dear Dr. Hall got a second doctorate, this time in medicine, and began practicing in Charleston, SC. At this time, our equally dear Mr. Rutledge would have been a teenager who was very precocious, very pretty, and very sickly. I have a feeling that something like this may have happened if Dr. Hall actually was Neddy's physician for a while. A/N: I don't know what John Rutledge was really like. I just think that, since he was usually described as more hot-headed than Neddy, he'd get fed up with a continually ill little brother.
(It seemed like a good idea at the time.)

Hello again :) I have to write a paper about citizenship for my French Revolution class, (this is related, I swear) but the prompt is really vague. The direction I am heading in right now is about the origins of citizenship and why it was different for Americans to be citizens in a republic than it was for Europeans. It made me think of that quote from our beloved 1776: "We're a new nationality. We require a new nation." Since, as we know, many of the lines in the film were based on the actual history, does anyone know of anything that Franklin actually said/wrote that was similar? I used my google-fu, but it failed me this time. I thought perhaps there was someone here who might know off-hand. Thank you very much and I promise to do something creative sometime!

| Short Fic: "A Midnight Meeting" |
[09 Feb 2009|11:18pm] |
|
Hello? Anyone? Has the comm died again?
Well, perhaps a story will rejuvenate it? I wrote this recently while my computer was busted (thus keeping me from reading fic instead), and have been threatened ordered strongly encouraged to post it here. Thus. Here it is. Enjoy?
Title: A Midnight Meeting
Pairing: Adams/Hall
Rating: G-PG
Summary: Hall is disheveled. Adams is lonely. Will a chance nighttime meeting have longer-lasting effects than even Adams's dreams of independence might have imagined?
( Hall slept, fittingly enough, in the hall. )

Since suce_fleur posted her Secret Delegate fic, I'm posting mine as well. According to the website, it's for Kathleen ( ankeelv2 ). I hope she enjoyed it.
Title: Seductions Pairing/Characters: John Dickinson, Edward Rutledge, John Adams; John Dickinson/Edward Rutledge, Edward Rutledge/John Adams, John Dickinson/John Adams, John Dickinson/Edward Rutledge/John Adams Rating: R for vague descriptions of naughtiness Word Count: 1,584 Summary: John Dickinson and Edward Rutledge wonder how excitable John Adams can be. Notes/Warnings: The request was for any of the following pairings: John Dickinson/Edward Rutledge, John Adams/Edward Rutledge or John Dickinson/John Adams. Obviously, I managed them all. *grin* If you don't like characters sleeping with more than one other person, either in succession or at once, don't read.

| Fic: Dickinson/Rutledge |
[06 Sep 2008|09:44pm] |
I finally managed to transfer this fic from the computer it was on, and so without further ado, I present another Dickinson/Rutledge fic! (My two contributions to this comm so far haven't even been my OTP. WTF, self?)
Title: Subtle ShiftsAuthor: Dicax Rating: PG Pairings: Dickinson/Rutledge Standard disclaimers apply.

So I finally updated the Secret Delegate website, and now you all can see which present was yours!! I hope I got everything worked out (since the two drop outs skewed everything a bit), but let me know if I didn't get you a fic or something. Everyone else who didn't join in this year, feel free to read all the wonderful stories and consider joining in the next time around -I'm thinking of doing another one around Christmas.
Enjoy!!

I think my e-mail may be acting up. All of you who participated in the Secret Delegate (and actually submitted a fic...), would you kindly post here if you received the link to where the stories are posted? Thanks.

Hello, everyone! *waves* I'm new to both LJ and this community, and I'm thrilled to find people who have not only seen and loved 1776, as I did, but also slashed it! (I thought I was the only one!) I saw the movie about two years ago on Independence Day and thought it was amazing. I have since recorded it on DVR and frequently (to the annoyance of my family) commandeer the TV to watch the entire thing, trying not to giggle at the slashy bits--which are, bascially, the entire movie. One day I'm going to embarass myself publicly by laughing at the line "John, I thought you'd be up there cracking the whip". That Franklin. There was a guy who knew what was going on xD
Though Jefferson/Adams is my OTP, I also love Dickinson/Rutledge and hope to post a longer fic of them later, once I transfer it from another computer. For now, though, here's a little drabble I just whipped up (pun intended). I think it took me longer to work out the LJ cut than to write the fic...
Title: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Author: Dicax Rating: PG-13 Pairings: Dickinson/Rutledge Disclaimer: I don't own 1776. ( Don't Ask, Don't Tell )

| The Violin |
[25 Jul 2008|05:32pm] |
Ok... so in foundinfathers I've been doing some stories and so far this has been my favorite. I'm so sorry, but it's kind of going to jump forward in time a lot, but I'll be sure to tell you. I am sure that this story is awful, but I thought I would pass it along anyways. (p.s. this isn't for secret delegate).
Title: The Violin Author: 1776_nixongurl Rating: PG Characters: Thomas Jefferson, Martha Jefferson (Wife, I refer to her as Patty starting at Chapter 2), Martha Jefferson (daughter), Abigail Adams, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin Summary: He plays the violin

Heads up to all of you participating in the fic exchange, assignments went out today, so check your e-mail to see who you are writing for.
There were 11 participants all together; there were 12, but one dropped out a few days after joining. Everyone has been paired up though.
