    Honey
Question - applied topically, honey is a very good skin conditioner, but does it do anything for the hair?

So, as some of you may remember, I chopped almost 12 inches of my hair off in December, making it about jawbone length. I've been growing it out since. I will admit that during the first few months, as I was getting used to the very new cut, I styled my hair a lot.... lots of blow drying and straightening. But my hair seemed to do fine with it, for the most post. I got the ends trimmed about a month ago, as well. It's currently at my shoulders.

I haven't really styled my hair much in the last two months. It's been warm here since about mid April, and as such, I didn't have a need to blow dry my hair before leaving to go to class or go out. I do still shampoo and condition every day (or sometimes every other), but I've always done that and sadly, will probably always do that (I've tried detoxing before when I was younger... and two months later, with trying to wash twice a week, my hair was still disgustingly greasy by day two).

Despite the minimized styling in the last two to three months, I've noticed that the top layer of my hair has... changed. It's not the length that's showing this (as in, my ends are pretty good), but the four or five inches of hair closest to my scalp. The hair, first off, is curly.... and wiry. I can't tell if it's just my hair growing in curly  (my hair tends to change texture and style sometimes... while my hair is mostly medium to fine, I have random coarse bits throughout it... remnants of when my hair was curly as a teen), or if it's damaged and is therefore coarse. Some of the pieces I don't doubt are-- they're indented and just feel brittle. But they're wispy, curly, short pieces of hair littering my part and down. Some of them are thin and some of thicker. In the light, it looks like frizz galore... and when the humidity hits, I'm betting it's gonna be even worse.

My brain's telling me that it's damage, but I just don't see how it could be. Even when I blowdry and straighten, I do it to the length, not the top.  I haven't even styled in a few months, and I never noticed this when I was doing so in the winter months. So, basically... I have no clue what caused this. I don't know if they're all just signs of damage or something else... any ideas?

And since I don't have a picture to show that represents the damage at the moment, I'll post one from this past Saturday, just to give  you an idea of the length. ;)

EDIT: I got a good picture of it after I showered.... all of the little, curly pieces were already dry, and therefore very noticeable...

    Thanks for your help!

    Necklaces and long hair
Ok, so my hair is now the longest it's ever been in my entire life (it's actually past my shoulders and on to my back now - just about), and I've discovered a problem I never even considered (having never had to deal with long hair before - it only used to get to ~2½" before I got fed up of it and got it cut again): how the hell do you cope with wearing necklaces while having long hair? I've had to ask because mine's always getting caught up in my necklaces, and then wraps itself around and around until I have to snap it off. So, how do you deal with it? I've (just this minute) gone for the option of wearing a lace type necklace thing, in the hopes that that'll suffice, but I'd be interested to know how you all deal with chains and stuff, because I DO like to wear mine, and much as I'd like to go back to my hair being just 2½" long, t'other half - and others - have said that I look better with long hair, and, tbh, I actually like the idea of being able to have long hair, if only I can learn how to handle it.

Facts or fable on hairgrow products
I often see promotion for divers products that promise a speedy hair growth. Only I mostly sense that the "after" model is just wearing extensions.

Now I really woul like to know of there are any trics to make your hair grow faster. My hair grows at a normal rate, but I sometimes whish I could speed it up a little. But as far as I know I need genetic manipulation for that.

So till now I never bought any of those wonder potions and spent my money on other things.

Did any of you ever used any of those things and what  is the result.

I have a grumble and a question that I think only the members of this community could understand and answer. I spent years dying my hair all kinds of fun colors but when I decided to grow it out I stopped. I still really like the look of choppy and funky colors and would be perfectly happy to use clip in hair for a temporary look but I can't find ANY that are nearly long enough to look right. My hair is wavy, waist length and blunt cut so any clip in colors that I find look really odd because they are usually straight and at least six to ten inches shorter than my hair, depending where I clip it. Any suggestions?
