I went out on Wednesday in a fluffy black lace sundress I had bought and adventured around the city of Savannah in new streets alleyways that I have recently discovered.

Fur, and lace; stalking these historic grounds in a shawl of vivid new-energy.
Finally awake and stretching my wings, after a long while of hibernation within waking-life.

This refreshing change of pace; roma bohemian... gypsy fae, this is my new life.

An ode to the pleated styles I used to wear half a decade ago-- sleeping in these braids my ancestors adorned in their own long and flowing locks.
A touch of memory...

A rebirth; with new sight, and new inspiration.

Adventuring and discovering these new intricacies of cityscape, a new land to explore and new energies to experience...

Danse, danse...

Even in these places; darkened bits of alleyway-- I have been able to find myself in these connections.
This natural world draws me in, reminding me of my home.

My hair is now 5" longer and I promised someone I'd post a pic once I reached tail bone length, so .

Braiding question.

My husband and I both have long hair. He wants to try something with his hair though that I am unfamiliar with. He says that he roomed with someone before that had long hair and wrapped leather around the braid, and had this give the effect of him having longer hair (like down to his butt).

I think it sounds neat, but have never seen this before so I don't know how I should try and do this to his hair. I don't know if anyone has tried this or has pictures or anything, but it would be great if anyone could help us out. :)

oiling highlighted hair

I recently had a few highlights and lowlights put into my hair but I was wondering if anyone knew if using oil on my hair would alter or darken the highlights? the type of oils i usually use are coconut, jojoba, and rosemary. Thank you for any input.

Hey there, I'm commonly called 'Suri.' I started growing my hair long after it was last cut off at nose-length some six years ago (not what I wanted, but necessary.) I'm a bit overdue for a trim, and will be getting one soon to rid myself of a surplus of split-ends, but overall I'm quite happy with my hair... and it's length, for now. I'm hoping to have it reach my bottom one day, and then I'll probably keep it there, but knowing myself I might just want to keep on going with it.

I love having fun with various kinds of up-do's and braids, but sometimes it's nice to let it all hang loose. My hair is pretty thick, and has a tendency to frizz up if I don't keep it conditioned and whatnot. I do have a habit of dying my hair, although not very often I must say, but I don't use blow dryers/hair straighteners/etc. Rarely use products in my hair other than shampoo/conditioner (and the hair dye, of course.) The chunks of colour I currently have in my hair mark the first time I've ever done any lightening to it -- and I didn't leave it on for very long seeing as my natural colour is very dark as it is... no need to kill parts of my hair over white streaks. :)

I don't know what else to say, other than here's some pictures.

hey everyone!

quick question:

i already know that taking certain vitamins/herbs can help you increase your natural hair growth rate potential, and obviously taking good care of your hair and scalp are factors on hair growth rate ....but my question is have any of you found certain vitamins...or amounts of a certain vitamin you took...help you see a huge difference in the rate of your hair growth? the most growth i had was an inch a month. i take biotin, flax seed oil, zinc, b12, inositol and sometimes nettle, msm, and silica.

any input is greatly appreciated!

hey everyone, my name is jen and i just thought i would share my story &desire for long hair.

my hair as of right now:

currently my hair is straight, a little past shoulder length but not bsl. my hair is thin, and a good part of it is extremely damaged...due to the frequency of color/highlights, blow-drying, and the harsh products i have been using.

what i plan on doing and my goals:

i am going to get a good part of my hair cut off, and although i am dreading this, my hair is way too awful to wear down anyways. i want to start "fresh", so i need the damaged hair cut off. i plan on NOT highlighting or coloring my hair and instead growing out my natural hair color. i also am going to stop using anything with CONE in it, and i got rid of my harsh shampoos and am going to get something gentler to use. i am also going to wash way less frequently, NO HEAT STYLING, and basically treating my hair a million times better.

i take biotin, silica, b complex vitamins, inositol, and other supplements.

my goal is to ultimately have waist-length, thick, shiny, healthy hair. i want that so badly, i want to have gorgeous LONG hair. i had pretty long healthy hair back in high school and i would give anything to go back to the hair i had.

i know it is going to take a lot of patience and my hair is not going to be looking attractive for awhile but in the end it will be worth it.

any comments/tips/encouragement are appreciated!

I post on longhair and run two hair communities but I don't think I have ever posted here. I had hip length hair for several years but had it cut in 1995. Two tears ago I decided to grow it again. It was just touching my shoulders then, now it is just at waist length.

This is the second time I'm growing my hair. It's about as long as it was 2 years ago when I cut it to my shoulders. My next goal is tailbone length (about 36"). It's currently 31"

I finally got some decent pictures of my hair. It's at the longest it's ever been. Over the last couple of months I have discovered the wonders of a straighter. I also just died it so that it's all one color instead of chaos as it was before.

This last picture is what my hair looks like without a straightener. The brown is my natural hair color, I wanted to get rid of all of the red so I just died it all black.

So, it's me again. At Ren Fest this weekend I was approached by a woman that "just noticed my hair," and gave me her business card. It was for a salon that's called "Down Your Back" and specializes in long hair treatment. I haven't checked them out, but is there anyone else here from MD who has heard of them? I certainly find the prospect intriguing...
