Regarding Saturday...

...everything is in hand. All appropriate security measures have been taken by RBW staff to protect the safety of anyone attending the party. A recognised security firm has been contracted to man the door. In addition to this, the Metropolitan Police have been alerted and will be keeping an eye on procedings. Homphobic hate crimes will not be tolerated in the City of London, or anywhere for that matter.

However, RBW would advise party goers travelling to and from the party to give consideration to their appearance and to try and avoid wearing costume that obviously marks them as being furry - collars, tail, ears, furry-themed t-shirts, etc. Additionally travelling in pairs or groups is favourable to travelling alone.

I obviously don't want to concern anyone, but I also want you guys to be safe. It's still going to be a brilliant party, no matter what!

One more thing... I will post pictures of the venue when I get home =)

Fursuit Walk - Next weekend (12th July 08)

So i thought it might be nice to organise a fursuit walk this weekend. It will be in the style of the long walk that a lot of suiters went over when Yappy Fox was over last year from EF.

I have found a nice walk that takes in a lot of great sights but also features a number of places for breaks, refreshments, and offers a bit of shade. The walk takes us from The Tower of London, along the south bank, finishing at Westminster Abbey and should take about 3 hours. You can find out the route here but we will not be starting or finishing in same places.

http://www.londontourist.org/walk%20one.html

The walk will start at 2:30 from 'The tower'. People should meet either at the pub at 2:00pm OR RIGHT HERE (Outside Tower Hill Tube) at 2:30pm.

The walk will then aim to finish by about 5:30pm at Westminster tube station. It may run fast or it may run slow. But we will try and make sure we don't go to fast for anyone or that we spend to long in one place.

Myself and a load others will then move onto the party in the evening over at Blackfriers. More details on the party can be found here!  There will be a load of fursuit friendly music as well as moving into other genres over the evening. Any ideas or suggestions then let me know here. ^_^

Hey,

Wasn't sure if this kinna post was okay, so let me know if it isn't and I'll take it down...

I'm a fur from Seattle that's been visiting the past couple weeks, and I thought it'd be a good idea to meet people that could show me the sights or hang some. Heh, I thought of it rather late though, I'll be leaving on the 9th.
However, I'm hoping to be in Trafalgar Square to peek at the Pride Parade going on this Saturday, and if a couple furs would like to hang out for the day, let me know.
You can drop me a line at dorn.palor @ gmail.com or via AIM (dorn palor).

Hiya Guys,

If anybody is interested, I’m planning a little themed expedition on the morning of the 12th before the meet, based on the idea of the temporary architecture.

I’m planning to kick off with this year’s Bedford Square structures by the Architectural Association. The DRL10 Pavilion is still there, and now we have the AA Swoosh Pavilion in the opposing corner.

After that, it’s a quick tube-ride to the Hayward Gallery for their provocatively named ‘Psycho Buildings’ exhibition. This is a series of architectural installations in their various gallery spaces designed by artists and members of the architectural avant garde loony fringe. It looks bonkers and it should be very interesting if you can put up with Rachel Whiteread’s recent work.

From there, it’s just a short stroll along the south bank to the pungent cellar where the meet happens.

I’m planning to start at Bedford Square at around 0930h. If you’re interested, drop me a line.

~Theo

Well, looks like [info]sphelx is moving out. So we're in the market for a housemate to replace him.

Naturally enough, we'd sooner have a fur or fur-friendly type than some random person off Gumtree.

Any of you guys interested?

The house is in Walthamstow, London E17 (zone 3), with incredibly good transport links (2 minutes from the bus station, 5 minutes from the train to Liverpool Street or the Victoria Line tube, 2 miles from the North Circular by car). There's broadband internet, two cute cats (four legged variety), and monthly bills would be £370 rent and about £100 for all bills -- water, council tax, phone/internet, gas and electricity.

Walthamstow may not be the most upmarket part of London but it has pretty much everything anyone could want, and the market is utterly beyond fabulous, my dears.

Comment here if interested...

London fursuit event 2008

shemas art :P
Ive had this idea for a while now (well, perhaps more of recycled idea) and i just wanted to get it out and see what people think, get comments and suggestions etc, etc.

So, cast you're minds back to september last year when Yappy and co came over around Eurofurence time and a bunch of us got together and did a fursuit walk round london. I duno about anyone else but i thought it was a great day and definitely something we should do again. So what im saying is, mass london fursuit walk but not on a meet day... yay or nay?

There where obsticles last year like police clearance, the pass to get to go through trafalgar square that we didnt end up using because there was a protest on... and of course the big one being changing facilities for the suiters. But i figure, we did it last year, why cant we do it again.

Also i was looking for suggestions about the time of year to do this as we are approaching the really hot (well, relatively hot) period of the year and i doubt suiters would want to walk too far in blistering sun. at the same time, we dont want to wait it out till clouds are a regular sight in London's skies once again (althoguh that tends to be year round...)

So... thoughts?

London furs community website

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
WhiteWolf
Just wanted to update people on the situation of the...

...London furs community website.

For the last few year I have owned the londonfurs.co.uk (Not the .org.uk domain). Unfortunately i'm busy at Uni and more recently making hollywood blockbuster games so haven't been able to update it in a LONG while. :'(

My original intention was to develop the site because I was helping organise the meets. Now that i have taken off that 'crown of thorns', i was looking for a new webmaster to develop/run it. After talking to a number of people on the UKfur forums and also in R/L about the site it become apparent that people were getting pissed off for one (and good) reason....

...No one body/person OWNS or RUNS the londonfurs, yet over the last 4/5 years it has kind of turned into a corporate body. Now the reasons may have been justified, and in my eyes they were. BUT I'm not your voice, and neither should I be. So after talking with people and ignoring my own personal preferences this is what others would like to see the Londonfurs.co.uk operated like....

"Someone or a group of furs create/edit/master the site who has no connection with the organisers of the meets/coffee meets/etc."

So for this to happen I need a few good men/lady's to 'take charge' of the site. I will continue to pay for the domain and the server, but that is _ALL_ I will do so that it stays impartial and more of a community site rather than a corporate image site.

Also.. anyone who wants a Pop3/Webmail account like @londonfurs.co.uk can email me and I will create them one. :)

So.. Who wants to run/make the website?

email me: foxb [a-t] londonfurs.co.uk

As there's no post-meet party happening and i'm wanting to indulge a bit at my favourite wine bar (The wonderful and atmospheric, Gordons) before I leave the country again; I am wondering who would like to join me?
Great wine, delicious cheese, open invitation! :D

UPDATE!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Ok it seems that the canceled party in the evening was what was canceled. Someone didn't tell the powers that be. and there was confusion over who was doing what.

the facts are:
We will be at City Golf Bar as per usual. 12:00 - 18:00

The renovations only affect the party 19:00-01:00 (but since that's not happening it's irrelevant)

I have commented on the bar choices Hopefully I'll get feed back on that.
I have also kept the idea of venue changes open. I'll get back to you on who what where when and why.

NOTE: the minimum spend is £750, last meet we just made £740 (whey weren't fussed over £10)
as such a collection bucket will be passed round to try and avoid such events. The funds will be kept in a 'Community Account' and policy drawn up for maintenance. The management of this thing is in a mess, and I hope to clean it up.
