This community is meant to be something along the lines of such communities as![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)
lolscenequeens, badmakeup, and our sister community, lol_scenekids.
However,lolternative isn't limited to scene kids (although scene lulz are always welcome).
Entertainment and delight can be found in the antics of all kinds of "alternative" people!

Good question. A good rule of thumb is: if it's on VampireFreaks or part of a subculture represented on VF, it's fair game. However, it's not limited to just that. That's right; hippies and indie hipster types count too!
Here's a decent list of where to start... but don't limit it to just these!

- Hippie [assuming they still exist...]

- Other subcultures and such that I'm probably forgetting.
T3h Rul3z
1.) Be polite! If someone's opinion is different from yours, defend your opinion instead of attacking theirs.
2.) Save the theatrics for your South American camelid. Calm and collected wins the race!
3.) Keep the scene queen stuff to a minimum (scene queens being, for example, Audrey Kitching and Zui Suicide). That's whatlolscenequeens is for. Also, don't post too many scene kids, if you can help it; I'm trying to keep this place reasonably distinct from lol_scenekids.
4.) Keep it to "alternative" people. What that means is subjective, of course; but I'd avoid posting, say, soccer moms in minivans, or Abercrombie-clad teen girls with pin-straight blonde hair and streaky highlights.
5.) I don't really consider Hip Hop culture and such to be "alternative", since it's so pervasive nowadays; but if you wanna post some, and it's lulzy, go for it.
6.) Only one picture outside of the LJ-cut, please. :-)
7.) Avoid too much ad hominem attacking. This may sound counterintuitive, but what I mean is: we're making fun of people's actions, not their intrinsic personal character. This isn't the place to make scathing remarks about Haylee Hepatitis because she stole your boyfriend. However, it is the place to make fun of her shitty hair extensions, bad spelling, and hyperinflated ego.
8.) If you want to pimp your community on here, go for it, AS LONG AS you include relevant things in your post in addition to your pimpage. i.e., "Join this community please" isn't really okay, but "Join this community! Now here's some lulzy mansonite mallgawth lulz behind the cut" is.
9.) We're mocking individuals here, NOT entire subcultures. Make fun of Ravenfyre Nightshade's greasy hair and Sharpie-covered lips, NOT Goths in general.
10.) Bad gawth and emo poetry is welcome, BUT keep it anonymous. You'd think I'd say the opposite... but if it's that bad, it's not like anyone's going to want to steal it.
