Peek a boo, we're comin' for you!!! [04 Feb 2008|10:49pm]

cyanidebonbon
So my band Hate in the Box is playing this Friday, Feb. 8th in Cambridge, MA and I thought that would be a fine time for meeting up with some Boston Lolitas! I'll be all dolled up in a ridiculously cute new dress and the theme is "Vampy Valentine" so for those attending, it would totally work with kuro/guro or akai(red) lolita coordinates! More details below the cut! I've had a great time hanging out with the New York lolitas and I totally look forward to meeting some of you!!

EGL at AB [18 Apr 2007|01:02pm]

So what are everyone's plans for Anime Boston?

I recently found myself in the dilemma of having four costumes for only three days (whoo planning!), so I've determined I'm only going to EGL at the cherry blossom ball Friday night. The rest of Friday I'll be Kiki from 'Kiki's Delivery Service', Saturday I'll be the Mad Hatter from 'Angel Sanctuary', and on Sunday I'll be an original character from the LARP I go to.

How about you?

Please, please, adopt-a-comm [14 Nov 2006|11:16pm]

electronicangel
So, after much thought...

I am putting this community up for adoption.

I've come to realize through this comm's recent inactivity and my own evolving interests that it and I are not quite compatible anymore. Aside from being crazy busy with college and life, I'm far less lolita than I have been in the past. It's unfortunate, and I miss the old days, but I like who I am now and I can't go back.

I would still love to keep organizing the Anime Boston EGL Picnic, which was a fantastic success this past year since it was officially on the schedule. But I don't have the time nor the energy to get this comm back on its feet. My co-mod gave it up long ago, and I'm not really equipped to try and run an active comm on my own.

I would love to see someone take over and bring it back to its former silly glory. I'd be glad to stay on as a mod, but I'd rather someone else take the main reins.

If nobody wants to take over, I'll probably end up deleting.

For the friends I've made, you're all fantastic and I hope we continue to see each other in other endeavors. We've enjoyed some good times.

It's been real, kids.

Boston Gothic and Lolita Society [17 Oct 2006|11:39pm]

tartlet
Hello!

I am proud to announce the creation of the Boston Gothic and Lolita Society ([info]boston_lolita), a group for local lolita who are interested in monthly meetups for concerts, movies, tea parties and other events as well as planning group orders overseas and swapping tips on Victorian lifestyle and the mentality of lolita. While this group is really open to anyone in the area, I would like to devote special attention to college lolita and the challenges (financially and physically) of the lifestyle for college students.

I live in the heart of downtown Boston and am happy to host meetings in the common, at local cafes, and at venues for ballets, theater, concets, and other nearby places. I am not IN ANY WAY trying to usurp this community, but I notice that Western Goth has been added to the lineup for Loli Biatches -- The Boston Gothic and Lolita Society is a community devoted strictly to the Japanese Gothic Lolita fashion and lifestyle.

I hope you'll join us!!

University of Massachusetts Amherst Campus Japanese Fashion Meeting Update [23 Sep 2006|09:34am]

[ mood | drained ]
[ music | The ring of a few campus bells ]

Everyone who is interested in coming to the University of Massachusetts Amherst Campus Japanese Fashion meeting should look out their window and sob wracking tears of distress. I kid you not, we have been rained upon in a very violent manner. While walking to the bathroom I glanced out a window and noticed a giant puddle taking up quite a bit of space near the main gate of my campus.

I don't know about you, but since my Antique Beast dress replica fell through the outfit I am wearing is white. Therefore, anyone else with outfit problems might appreciate this post. If enough people see it, I will be in the Fine Arts center at 1:30 P.M. to wait for you guys if the people interested haven't shown up. I am not waiting by the poles for more than half an hour in White rocking horse shoes.

Yes, the weather depresses me. No, I am not canceling the meeting because I have to be in Amherst to fill out some paper work a few hours before the meeting. I am not changing in a Umass bathroom to have three people show up to the meeting. For those of you who are questioning the weather, the meeting is still on. It will just be held largely indoors. At some point we will go get food.

A change of plans is in order. We shall talk more about this at the actual meeting.

Bring cameras people!

Locations of dress tailors [15 Sep 2006|12:44am]

Anyone in the Hadley, Springfield, Amherst or Northampton area know of any good seamstresses willing to alter satin dresses? The Antique Beast dress I received from In the Starlight is far too small around the waist for me to wear to the Japanese Fashion meeting next Saturday. I would appreciate your help before I go tailor shopping Sunday afternoon.

Final Count for the September 23rd, 2006 University of Massachusetts Amherst Campus Meeting [15 Sep 2006|12:39am]

proverbialsaint

[ music | None ]

Yes, folks, it is that time of month where we must bid our goodbyes and check our schedules. The R.S.V.P. date for the September 23rd, 2006 University of Massachusetts Amherst Campus Japanese fashion meeting has now been closed for twenty five minutes! At this moment I need all participants to post in this thread informing me of their attendance. Members of EGL must indicate the number of guests they are bringing! Remember, the meeting is at 1:00 P.M. by the Fine Arts Center near the bus stop at the exact center of Campus. No food will be served!

This is also the list I will be using to keep track of attendees on the day of the event. I want us to move around campus as efficiently and quickly as possible. Late attendees must send me an email stating their contact information and the amount of time they will be late. My email is rainbowgardenofskulls@yahoo.com. I will only wait for half an hour. Anyone arriving after the half hour deadline will miss the event unless they come upon us by chance!

Sara-Jane will not host any Lolita's in her room! I considered hosting a few but decided I could not because my room lacks the floor space to host overnight guests.

I apologize in advance to any Gothic Lolita and Japanese fashion advocates who wish to attend the event but cannot due to time restraints.

One last reminder: No one should post anything in this thread regarding their disappointment over scheduling conflicts on the date of the event! I will purposefully and quite happily ignore you.

Massachusetts Lolita Gathering [30 Jul 2006|10:38am]

proverbialsaint
[ mood | chipper ]
[ music | None ]

I am contemplating the idea of holding a meeting in South Hadley for all interested Lolitas. The last gathering held in Boston had a surprisingly small turn out, Tartlet and I being the only two Lolitas from the Massachusetts area. If I recall correctly, most of the interested participants were either too busy or wanted to come from outside Boston! Before I list the final details I need to know how many people are interested in attending. When I get back to college I'll need to reserve either the living room in South Mandelle or the Stimson room of our library.

The date I have in mind for the gathering is Saturday, September twenty third. Our local garden will still have flowers and plenty of scenery to behold. Worse come to worse we can hop on the PVTA (public transportation) to flood the towns surrounding five nearby colleges.

I'll make sure to post a spot where we can all meet up. There are several central landmarks that can easily be found. If South Hadley is too obscure to hold a Lolita meeting in, I can switch to North Hampton, the closest city, or the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Campus for a more diverse student body.
