Hey everyone,

Thanks to all who attended for a great show. It was a very good year. Photos are already storming the internet, but I'm going to wait until there's a huge number of them and post a big link list of every place you can find pictures. In the meantime, PLEASE feel free to post your photos! I love looking at all the different ways that different people see/experience the masquerade, since all the individual areas are so completely different and everyone always seems to have a favorite hang-out spot.

Hi everyone, just a quick round-up of updates:

Saturday night is SOLD OUT. There were a few Grande Packages left by which you could get Saturday tickets along with your Friday tickets, but those are gone too now. There are limited Friday tickets remaining. Don't miss out! Remember, Friday's theme is "the Goblin Clockwork," so steampunk fans will really want to catch it!

Gram Rabbit has been added to the line-up, performing on Friday night.

Pre-show tickets have yet to be released, so no, you didn't miss them. I know we're releasing them pretty late this year - sorry about that. Just keep in mind that back in my day, you young whippersnappers, we didn't even know what date LOJ was going to BE on until May. ^_^

It's happened again - the only wedding I'm going too this year (so far) has been re-scheduled over my LoJ weekend, and is being held in another state. (I try to tell people to never hold events on the second weekend of July, but it does no good.)

This will be the third consecutive year that I've missed LoJ due to events outside my control. I guess if this run of luck ever ends and I'm at last able to attend again, I'll be a stranger :-/

It was going to be really good this year - a double-night LoJ, plus a big ballroom dance competition at a resort a couple of hours away, happening over the same weekend. I was going head down to CA and kill two birds with one stone; compete during the days and join the masked revelry during the nights. But it was not to be. I'm pretty bummed. :-(

I'm starting to wonder what ridiculous coincidence is going to be thrown in my way July 2010 to keep me away. I'm guessing that on July 6 next year, there will be a zombie uprising in LA.

More acts for this year's event have been released in the latest update.

West Indian Girl (performing live on the main stage Saturday night) and Xian have been added to the artist lineup for this year's event, and there's even more still to come. How many performers can we fit into two nights for your enjoyment? Buy those tickets and find out! ^_^

Coins

This year's limited edition coins have also been released for sale! They're $14 each, or you can buy the grande package for $88 and that includes tickets for both Friday and Saturday as well as a coin. Get your coins here!

For those of you who aren't on the mailing list, here's a summary of a little sneak peek into this year's festivities!

The Goblin Clockwork

Friday night's theme is "The Goblin Clockwork," and we have many fantastic new stories and inventions waiting in the wings for it. Those of you who enjoy a little steampunk in your high fantasy (or a little high fantasy in your steampunk) definitely won't want to miss it!

Several New Acts Announced

We have a lot of wonderful artists joining our efforts this year. In April, we revealed Stellamara, performing live on the main stage; also performing will be some old favorites and some new friends: Faerie Archives, Mirden, Drop Black Sky, Verdandia, Wandering Marrionettes, Stilt Circus, and Aerial Terril.

There's even more to come on top of that! But you'll just have to be patient and wait for that news at a later date. ^_^

The VIP Pre-Show

Keep your eyes peeled! Tickets for the VIP Pre-Show will likely be released in the coming month. Keep checking the website, because they always sell out very quickly.

Tickets

Tier 1 tickets are all gone, so we've unwrapped Tier 2 for sale! There haven't been tickets available at the door for the past several years, so we highly urge you to get your tickets well in advance if you are able, to ensure that you have a place at the masquerade. Also remember that you may not get your tickets until late May or sometime in June, as we generally don't begin sending them until mid-May and then ship them out in batches, starting with the early buyers, so don't panic if your tickets don't arrive right away. If, however, your tickets do get genuinely lost, as happens sometimes, we are happy to work with you to fix it. Despite the goblins mucking about in the system, we do have some very good goblin-proofed elven record keepers who keep track of who needs to be where.

First off, I just posted my gallery for this year. You can also get last year's gallery there too if you like. Mine's first on the list, followed by the amazing Pixie's!

From Shawn Strider: As I finish up this missive, the Sypher artists are buried in their preparations and putting together the Pieces for 2008. My eternal thanks goes to my beloved friends, these awesome people who have built these dreams with me. Thank you all for every piece you've added in building these worlds.

The festivities approach so very quickly m'friends. This year our ambitions take us into into the Masque and Stories, to the very borders of Oberon's Court. Dragons are learning to walk as nobles and faerie creatures dance. Time approaches and Sypher's Royal Court shall open its doors for a weekend of magic.

Enjoy the world around you; each little detail you perceive is a brush stroke of creation. Upon solid soil we place these dreams and with our hands we shall forge them.

Malice Dreaming and the Wandering Marrionettes

One last note my dear friends, we're working hard in the studio for the next five weeks, preparing every corner of the Court for our distinguished visitors. This year, some of Sypher's most ambitious plans are worked and reworked to build new legends on the edge of our imaginations and a brighter stage to set these dreams upon.
Spread your wings, dear faeries and elvish creatures, may your travels be swift and safe as we prepare the gateways for these two nights of magic. . . For now, these mortal hands are busy setting the foundations, and time burns.
Enjoy the world around you, each little detail you perceive are the brushstrokes of creation.
There is a magic in this life to be cherished my friends. Keep your eyes bright and dreams brighter, for our hearts must be lighter than feathers in the realms we travel.

Some of you may have noticed that the LOJ website has been down the past few days - it's back up again now, thanks to Sypher's unrelenting workfest at getting it back up. Here's an article explaining what happened - basically, a huge explosion in a server facility.

Email is still not up to full power at this time, so please be patient if you've sent anything to an LOJ email address in the past few days - chances are nobody's seen it yet.

I want to say firstly that I am terribly disappointed that neither I nor my family will be able to attend the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade. This makes me sad.

However the next best thing is if some of our creations could grace your fabulous faery faces and dance the night away!

The best part of being a mask maker is getting your art to be the "icing on the cake", so to speak. That is, lovely costumes and lovely people, topped with a mask that matches perfectly to draw the eye and entrance the gaze.

So please visit our site, peruse our selection of fine fanciful facades. Please note, our order system is still a bit cumbersome and we are working out the kinks. Just shoot me an email from our site noting the piece you want and we will reply and make the arrangements.

While going through the costume and mask resource list, I discovered that Yosa now makes a derivative version of Sarah's ballgown.

You can find it here and she's selling it for $550-$650. Just another costume option for anyone who's stumped but has a big budget. She has some other great designs too, but that's the only Labyrinth-related one.

So how many of you guys are going this year? And what are you doing for costumes?

I'm also curious, how many of you are doing both nights, and if you are, will you wear the same costume both nights or are you going to wear two different costumes?

Hello, I am new to this community. I've yet to attend the LOJ ball but have been checking out the photos every year for a little while now -they look great!! I hope to one day attend!:D

I am a mask maker and specialize in the realms of fantasy. I have been making masks since 1999. For those of you needing that special mask to go with your costume this year, please check me out: http://EMasqueradeGallery.deviantart.com -To see photos of past customers wearing their masks please check out the Scraps section (-found in the upper right hand corner in small text with browse in blue next to it.)

I have a couple of older masks still available for sale but otherwise am completely open to commissions.
-I will not accept commissions for replicas of others' work nor will I for horror/macabre styles.
I work with a light-weight, air-drying clay which when dry is like a hard plastic. Very durable and comfortable to wear. I line the backsides of all of my masks in decorative and plush brocade fabric with matching braided trim.

Prices vary according to materials, style, size, and time put into the making of the mask.

If interested in a commission please read my rules/guidelines here: http://emasqueradegallery.deviantart.com/journal/12175492/
-I am now accepting pay pal:)

You can e-mail me with inquiries at EnchantedMasquerade @ gmail . com
