| FOR DONATION |
[08 Dec 2004|12:17pm] |
lobster has regained possession of the punkrocks.net stage that travels with the warped tour every year. this year it spent a few weeks known as the "uproar" stage as well, but no one cares quite as much about that. seriously. the stage has seen the likes of from autumn to ashes, finch, story of the year, the starting line, yellowcard, unearth, further seems forever, throwdown, the bled, stretch arm strong, beloved, underoath, moments in grace, RKL, a wilhelm scream, don't look down, nora, the aeffect, age of ruin, skycamefalling, every time i die, shai hulud, glasseater plus all your favorite lobster bands (park, over it, a small victory, staring back, days like these) play on it over the last three years.
so here's the deal. this old and beat up stage is retiring. it's 20'x16', divided into 10 4'x8' sections. it looks like this. it weighs upwards of 8 million pounds. just kidding. but it's really heavy. it still functions fine, as long as you have some WD-40 handy, and don't set it up on a hill. we're looking for someone who wants to take it. someone who will give it a good home and allow only minimal amounts of below average bands to perform on it. we don't need any money for it, but you would have to come pick it up from our office in santa barbara.
do you want it? do you know anyone who would take it? do you have any ideas for places we could donate it? UCSB maybe? contact me at kevin@lobsterrecords.com if you have any helpful information for us.
love, kevin
ps - click the links above for pictures verifying the stage's existence.
[ pps - you don't get the PA or the tent. just the stage. please. ]
{ ppps - all we're donating is the stage. not the pr.net slot on warped. thanks. }

| Lobster on Purevolume |
[02 Dec 2004|02:44pm] |
Lobster has a label profile page on purevolume now, check it out:
http://www.purevolume.com/labels/lobsterrecords
There's not technically any "new" stuff, but I'd be willing to bet most of you haven't listened to ALL the lobster songs on purevolume before. So there's something you can waste your time with until the OC comes on.

| mountain dew loves lobster. |
[25 Nov 2004|11:58am] |
MTV2 and Mountain Dew have been running the Dew Circuit Breakout competition the last few days, and our old pals Mock Orange annihilated Hawthorne Heights to make the finals! As a courtesy, we'd like to encourage you to get over to the voting page today and vote for our good friends Don't Look Down. You can vote as many times as you want.
The finalists will compete live on MTV2 on December 4 at 6pm eastern / 3pm pacific. If you remember correctly, Yellowcard is a past winner of this contest, and they will be performing live and offering input on the finalists. If you watch carefully, you'll probably be able to see a couple of the Mock Orange guys rolling their eyes.

Underoath - Reinventing Your Exit |

Okay, so this isn't totally related to Lobster (in fact, probably not at all), but a friend and I came up with a wacky idea for a soundtrack, and it's definitely for fans of good music, like most Lobster fans are. We're pretty big political junkies, so we read all the silly Washington gossip blogs (wonkette, drudge, etc...), and in recent months, one of the bigger bits of gossip was this individual who used the nom dé plume The Washingtonienne. She basically had a bunch of sex on Capitol Hill, including with a guy who was appointed by Bush. Anyway, I'm not doing this any justice, so point your browsers to http://washingtoniennearchive.blogspot.com and read up.
Well, Ms. Washingtonienne got a book deal and her novel is coming out in June, so my friend and I got to thinking "well, they'll probably make a movie out of this too" and we came up with a cast list. However, we also decided that a good movie needs a good soundtrack, so instead of going the usual lame soundtrack route with bad pop songs, we took the Garden State path, and filled the mix with songs that are a little more on the indie tip, as well as diving back into the 70s and 80s!
So, for those of you with iTunes, you can go here and preview our iMix (and give it a good rating too!). For those of you without iTunes, here is the playlist, and you can procure the mp3s however you normally would!
1) death cab for cutie - expo 86 2) the eagles - those shoes 3) kylie minogue - can't get you out of my head 4) toto - hold the line 5) jimmy eat world - kill 6) foreigner - urgent 7) prince - darling nikki 8) the cure - let's go to bed 9) the killers - mr. brightside 10) head automatica - please please please (young hollywood) 11) the postal service - the district sleeps alone tonight 12) INXS - suicide blonde 13) the mars volta - eriartarka 14) a perfect circle - the noose 15) the chemical brothers f/ beth orton - where do i begin
so, i hope you enjoy our little politically themed mix, and to make this somewhat Lobster related, go vote for Over It at punkradiocast.com!
