Hi all!
Welcome to the official sign-up page for the "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" LL Ficathon! We can't wait to get the ball rolling, but first, let's get some of the logistics out of the way:
The basic premise of this ficathon is to find creative and organic ways for Luke and Lorelai to get together in every pre-Raincoats & Recipes episode. We will be starting in Season 1 and working our way up to the big finish at the end of Season 4. Writers will be assigned an episode and are asked to create a situation that allows for Luke and Lorelai to "hook-up" within the confines of that episode. They will then post the story to either their own livejournal page or to a fanfiction site at a predetermined time (see timeline).
Rules/Regulations:
1. Keep the situation organic to both the events of the episode and to Gilmore-verse. This means that time and place of the hook-up needs to be in the episode and the situations created should not be artificial to the show and the specific episode. Crazy and outlandish storylines are not acceptable. There are a few episodes where Luke and Lorelai do not appear together at all (like in Rory's Dance). As long as you find a way around this obstacle in a way that stays true to the events of the episode, you should be fine. If in your story Luke and Lorelai come together at the beginning of the episode, obviously future events are going to change. That is also fine. 2. Please, no stories in script form. They are difficult to read and follow.
3. The length of the story is up to the writer, but we would prefer that the entire story is at least over 500 words and has beginning, middle, and end. The story can be an oneshot or a multi-chapter epic. Take into consideration your own preferences and write accordingly.
4. Smut is encouraged, but optional.
5. The amount of actual episode dialogue used is completely up to the writer. There will be no limit to how much, but your story should not be a script. That's cheating and against the rules ;)
6. As mentioned above, the episode should be posted on an established fanfiction site, like
fanfiction.net or the
BWR. You may also post on your personal livejournal page. We only ask that at posting time you provide us with a link to your story.
7. Title is also up to the writer, but we would like it if you put the episode title in your summary. Also mention that your story is a part of the "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" LL Ficathon in the summary.
That's it; seven rules to follow. Lucky number seven (not that it's lucky for any of you, although it may be lucky for you...). If we feel the need to add anything to this list, we will post it here on the community. Oh, and before I forget, you are allowed to post onto this community, but
filo77and I monitor all the postings (muhaha) and will delete any that we don't feel are on-topic.
Timeline for Season 1 episodes:
1. Writer and beta (see post above) sign-ups begin today and will last until May 4th.
2. Writer assignments will be given out on May 5th. You will also be put in contact with betas at this time, if you so choose.
3. You will have all of May and June to write and edit.
4. Posting begins on July 7th and will last until July 22nd.
The timeline for Season 2 and other upcoming episodes are TBA.
