Subleasing.

I'm a student at the U and due to some unforseen circumstances, I'm transferring to a school in SE WI at the end of the semester. Unfortunately, my lease runs through the end of August. Does anyone have any tips/advice/happily ended stories about finding a subleaser? Because I realize it'a a ways off, but so far I'm coming up empty handed. Also, if anyone needs or knows of anyone who needs an apartment starting in mid-December/January and wanted to pass along my info, it would be fantastic. harsh013@umn.edu Thanks!

I'm a 35 year old single mom of two teenagers, currently residing in NE Minneapolis. I am more than ready to get out of the corporate environment, and so I am falling back on my favorite all time fall back, house cleaning. Only this time, I intend to make it a permanent occupation.

MINIMAL DAMAGE TO YOUR POCKETBOOK: I charge $25 per hour, but a $3 off hourly discount applies if you pay cash, and an additional $2 off per hour discount applies if you are a Live Journal member and/or if you live in NE Minneapolis!

WHAT I BRING: I bring all cleaning supplies that I can fit into a mop bucket, so this excludes things like vacuum cleaners. If you would like me to use cleaning supplies other than those I bring along, you are free to provide them, of course.

HOURS: My hours are extremely flexible. I make my schedule to fit yours. I can work mornings, afternoons, evenings and even weekends, but I do charge double-time for those. I don't do holidays, the day before a holiday or the day after a holiday.

Humorous Band needs Bass and Drums

Hey all

I've been wanting to form a band that doesn't take itself so seriously. I play a bunch of different instruments in different styles. I care about the music first and foremost, but but there always seems to be comedic undertones to the lyrics.

I've recorded some of them myself, but to make it work live, I need people: bass and drums specifically. A guitar player would be nice as well, but not 100% necessary. Multi-instrumentalists welcomed. You don't need to be a pro, just don't suck. I've got parts for all the songs I already have, but that doesn't mean they are set in stone. If you wish to contribute songs, that would be all the better.

Some of my influences are They Might Be Giants, Aquabats, Arrogant Worms, Barenaked Ladies, Ditty Bops, Moxy Fruvous, Steven Lynch, Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, Last Call Cleveland, Weird Al Yankovic, Monty Python, Jonathan Coulton, Simpsons, Those Darn Accordions, Reel Big Fish, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Max Raabe, Spinal Tap.

This Friday we are looking for; Belly Dancers, Magicians, performers, singers, musicians, comedians, dancers, burlesque acts, acrobats, basically anybody who would like to perform on stage. Ground Zero nightclub is having a Gong Show Cabaret this Friday night. Prizes for first, second and last place.

Hi everyone!

In case you're not able to make it to the U.S. Senate debates, Independence Party candidate Dean barkley will be speaking at the U Wednesday afternoon. The event will be in the Hubert H. Humphrey Center's Cowles Auditorium (on the west bank) from noon to 1:15. He'll be speaking about "The Polarization of our Political Parties," which I think sounds pretty darn interesting.

Debates & Drunkeness Downtown III

Tomorrow (Tuesday the 7th) is another presidential debate. There's a viewing party in the basement of the 508 Bar. All are welcome, and any overflow should be manageable, but still it'd be great if you could RSVP to phoenixredux's invitation post so we'll have some idea of numbers.

Where: The 508 Bar, 508 1st Ave (right by the Warehouse District Light Rail station)
When: Tuesday 10/7, doors at 7, debate at 8PM

The final debate will be next Wednesday, October 15, and there'll probably be a gathering for that too, but location is still TBA.

Note on other viewings: Tuesday's debate will be NOT be shown at the Riverview Theatre, but next Wednesday's debate will be, for free. Show up early though, at the last one they filled up and had to turn people away.

Bicycles

I am planning on getting a bike but I know very little about getting the "right bike."

I'm looking for reliable consumer information about choosing a bike. I don't want to waste my money getting the wrong set of wheels since bikes are now going for $250 to $550 and more!!

Things like choosing a good frame, getting the right parts, common mistakes buyers make, that sort of thing...

Cleaning Recs

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cleaning service / person?

I'm really only looking for someone to come in maybe once a month and do a deep cleaning of my bathroom and clean my floors downstairs (laminate flooring) - maybe more as needed. Is it even possible to have just certain jobs done like that?

Any other advice on what I should look for or how much stuff usually costs?

I'm in the north metro (Blaine).

Due to an opportunity to purchase a home, I'm trying to sublet my absolutely adorable 1,200 sq. ft. two-level townhome with attached 1-car garage, with a monthly rent of only $995. Water and trash pickup are included in the rent. Located in a friendly, clean and safe residential area, in the vicinity of Woodlane Drive and Cochrane Drive (55125). Lots of children and very friendly neighbors.

The townhome has:
Washer and dryer on the 2nd level (dryer is brand new), two bedrooms upstairs, vaulted ceilings, huge two-sink bathroom upstairs, powder room downstairs, a patio that opens up to a beautiful back yard, air conditioning, dishwasher, garbage disposal and microwave. I've painted very homey colors but would re-paint to white if you prefer. Cats AND dogs welcome! Also, all new siding and insulation is currently being done, which will save on energy costs this winter!

I am looking for someone to take over the lease potentially as soon as the end of October, or potentially November/December. The lease itself is up at the end of April 2009. After that time you would have the option to renew. There is no deposit due from you, just the $40 application fee for a background check.

The complex is run by a very nice couple who are extremely helpful and friendly, and always respond quickly to maintenance requests.
