ABOUT;
LiveJournalSecret is based on and a spin-off of the project PostSecret, which has influenced much of LiveJournal.

Our concept is quite simple: share a secret through the means of art under complete anonymity. Unlike the original project, however, we accept every secret submitted (given that it complies with the rules) and post them Monday through Friday. Anyone can participate! All you need is an art medium/program installed on your computer (Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, etc.) and/or a digital camera, scanner, etc.. Last but not least, a secret to share! Upload your secret to a reliable image host, and submit the URL to your secret in the Submissions Post which opens every other Saturday, at a different time every two weeks. You can locate the time at the bottom of every secret post.

Secrets will then be posted, approximately 75 (give or take) per day - every weeknight. Every secret submitted that complies within the rules will be posted two or three weeks after submission. Please be patient and respectful, as we encounter technical difficulties with the links breaking, moderators not showing up, etc.

There are several maintainers (4) not listed above. They are not moderators, but a select few of the previous, old moderators. They are members for reasons we are not under obligation and/or at liberty to say. Do not go to their journals. You will not be taken seriously. We are not responsible in the slightest for any reaction/response given by them. Again, the only official maintainers/moderators are those listed above.


THE RULES;
There are few rules to LJSecret but are continuously enforced:

• WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY FORM OF PORNOGRAPHY USED IN SUBMISSIONS AS OF 12/02/07. We do not consider tasteful and artistic images as pornographic. However, any images of people engaging in sexual acts is considered pornographic and will not be accepted at all.

• WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY PHOTOBUCKET SECRETS SUBMITTED AS OF 02/23/08. If you submit a Photobucket secret, it will be discarded and you will have to upload it to a different image hosting site and resubmit it.

• All secrets must stay either at or under 800x600 pixels (width and height, respectively) in consideration for our watchers who use dial-up connection to the internet.

• Shout-outs (i.e. "[info]hollywood, you are awesome, girlfriend!") are not allowed under any circumstances.

• E-mailed secrets will not be posted. The only method allowed is commenting on a Submissions Post, which opens once every two weeks at a different time. You can locate the time the submission post will be open by looking at the bottom of every secret post. Not sure about comparing time zones? Read this.

• Music/artist/band/concert-related secrets are not allowed. All apologies, but please find other outlets to divulge your superfluous love for a band and/or singer. (If you use lyrics in your secret, that is okay, as long as the artist is not mentioned.)

• "Trend secrets" (such as the "prove you're human" thing) are not allowed as of 04/23/07.

• Secrets about the submission post or about making secrets in Microsoft Paint are not allowed.

• Secrets with an identifiable signature are not allowed.

• WHEN COMMENTING: Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we respect that; we allow anonymous comments and IP addresses are not logged but, in the same light - you need to be respectful of not only your mods, but of the secrets themselves. Keep in mind, we will screen/delete comments as we see fit. So please, just be nice. Please keep these rules in mind when commenting. Also keep in mind that there are ways to be honest without coming off like an inconsiderate asshole. Confused as to how? Try googling it. Or dictionary.com the word 'tact.'

There is virtually no restriction as far as the content of your secret, only that is must be truthful and unknown to anyone but yourself, and that is complies with our rules. Regrets, hopes and dreams, a funny experience, an unseen kindness, sexual fantasies, belief, criminal activity, fears/phobias, weird habits, betrayal, confession, childhood humiliation... anything.

Tips/Suggestions:
• Be brief - the fewer words the better.
• Be legible - if your secret is unreadable it can't be posted.
• Be creative! Make your secret unique.
• And most importantly, be genuine.
