Anyone still using this?
Does anyone still use this client? Has anyone updated the program like the lj.net v 1.3 rc public? (which won't let me post either. ( See MS Framework error )I ask because when I try to post to other journal sites, it says my password is incorrect when it's not. It works for LJ just fine. I keep using this outdated client because it's the only one that will let me community cross post without word press. |

Hrm, anomalies
Howzit all, I have been using the client for ages, and i love the simplicity of it:D Though recently i have noticed that if i put in any HTML coding or try to use one of the format options (such as lj cut or user and such) the coding doesn't work in the posts. It just comes up as normal text. Is this due to LJ updating their coding or is there a bug? Current Mood: confused |

Looking for a client
Does anyone have the link where I can download LJ.Net V.1.3 Rc Public - 30.01.2006? It's the only one that works for me after LJ changed it's format. Thanks |

I'm a complete newcomer to downloadable clients, so excuse my lack of knowledge. Is there a way to edit all your entries at once? For example, changing all your previous journal entries so that the security level is friends only, or private. I really don't want to do it one by one. Thanks in advance. |

Trouble with Friends page I'm having a small box pop up every 15 minutes saying that one of my friends has just updated their journal when no one had. Anybody else have this problem and is there a way to stop it? |

LJ.NET 2
Some things have happened recently and I've been thinking about asking if I might take up LJ.NET again, with the intent of building a new, improved client but carrying forward some of the existing code. A sequel of sorts, not starting from scratch but with a brand new front end and a more appropriate look for Vista, and more of a focus on features that people care about (crossposts and such) rather than the stuff everyone seems to be take-it-or-leave-it about (like WYSIWYG). So... 1 - would anyone have any strong objection to my taking the helm again on this project? If there are objections, that's fine, I'm not interested in making anyone currently working on LJ.NET angry. 2 - Assuming that nobody objects to #1, I'd be discontinuing use of SourceForge. It was a wonderful idea at the time but never really got used for much, so I'd rather maintain things myself again. Any thoughts? Complaints, objections, praise? Current Mood: contemplative |

please help
hi I'm having allot of trouble with my lj.net. I have had the LJ.NET client before and it worked very well, now I have tried to download it about 10 times and every time it gives me a bunch of messages. the first one: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: ""Key being added:"" then it will say that one again when you click ok. the second one: Could not generate web rewuest. I don't know what else to do. I don't mind if I have to change clients but as long as I can cross post. could someone please help me! thank you |

Well, how about that? It seems that LJ.NET works again. Just fired it up on a whim and it logged right in. How strange... LJ must've fixed whatever it was they broke with all of their changes. Anyone else try it yet? Current Mood: curious |

Issues with the new patch
So I ran into a bit of a snag with my attempt to patch the software per Talisker's instructions, but I was able to punch in the information manually. Here are a couple tricks to help you guys: I was not able to launch the original .REG file included in the patch: The program gives an error: "The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from withing the registry editor." When trying to import it from within Regedit, I get "The selected key is invalid" I ended up entering each altered key manually. If you want to go this route, I recommend uninstalling LJ.NET and deleting the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LJNet], then reinstalling it. Then you will only have to enter like 10 string values or something. I recommend reinstalling doing the above, then using the .REG installation script offered below. I went ahead and backed up my [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LJNet] after clean install, so this should be perfect for you. http://www.ibexa.com/tonga/nuclear-woot.zipNote: You can look at the text of the .REG to see it is legit before installing it. I know I wouldn't want to install a reg patch from someone I didn't know. IMPORTANT NOTE: ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR WINDOWS REGISTRY BEFORE SCREWING WITH IT!!! I don't care how awesome you are with the registry, or how simple and dummy-proof the procedure sounds, but if you don't back that fucker up, and shit happens (as a bumper sticker once told me it does), then you will feel like even more of a dummy while you are reinstalling Windows. IMPORTANT NOTE: You have to repeat this procedure for each individual user while logged into their XP profile to get it to work for them. Does it work? Well, I am writing this in the app now. Yay me! |

Temporary hack - caveat emptor ok folks, here's the deal.
I've hacked together a fix for LJ.NET. It can be downloaded here: http://www.flubu.com/LJ-NET/lj-net.rc.1.3public.zip
Important points to note:
- This version diverged from the main development trunk a while ago. This is what my own LJ client looks like. The look and feel will most certainly be different than that of the "official" LJ.NET.
- I don't use the RTF2HTML conversion. I don't have the time nor the inclination to add it back, sorry. Formatting is still there, but it will add HTML codes directly instead of fiddling around (<b> for bold, <i> for italics, <u> for underline and so on).
- To install it, just unzip the file in your current installation directory, overwriting the original files.
- You will need to merge the lj-net.reg file to your windows registry. This is painless and does nothing nasty. Just double-click on the file and say "yes" when Windows asks for confirmation.
This will let you use LJ.NET with a minimal of fuss. If you have any questions or problems, leave a comment. I'll try and look into it but be warned, work is keeping me busy these days and I'm moving on top of that, so my free time is scarce. Current Mood: rushed |

Need help?
I'm interested in helping with this project if the help is needed or welcomed. It looks like the owner of the community is on hiatus. Is anyone currently working on bugs or improvements to this client? If more help is wanted, how can I be of assistance? |

Invalid password at login
Since LJ changed its URLs and cookies, I can't log into my own journal using lj.net. This is highly annoying. Is anybody else having the same problem? |

iTunes Support
I've been using the ljnet client code for a blogging app I'm writing for another site. (under gpl of course) I have been playing with apple's iTunes api and i have music detection working with iTunes. The catch is that it spawns an iTunes window if its not running. iTunes.exe has a typelib for com that you can use in .NET. Here's the code snippet for getting the title, artist and album from iTunes. // iTunes Detection try { string name = string.Empty; iTunesLib.IiTunes iTunesApp; iTunesApp = new iTunesLib.iTunesAppClass(); if (iTunesApp.CurrentTrack.Name != null ) { name += iTunesApp.CurrentTrack.Name; if (iTunesApp.CurrentTrack.Album != null) { name += " - "; name += iTunesApp.CurrentTrack.Album; } if (iTunesApp.CurrentTrack.Artist != null) { name += " - "; name += iTunesApp.CurrentTrack.Artist; } } return name; } catch (Exception e) { //MessageBox.Show("iTunes Error",e.Message, // MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation); } I don't know if this is something you'd like to refine or play with a bit but feel free to use it. |

Downloading Entries
I was told I need a client to archive/download all my journal entries (so I can then delete my journal). Will this program do this? Will this (or any other) program also download friends comments (even if not officialy supported)? Thanks for the help |
