Hey, sorry if this is an inappropriate post but I am really in need of some help.  I've been trying to start a Smallville LJ RP, and the important aspects of design are all done and dusted.  Sadly though, the layout code I found and used seems to have two errors I'd like fixing.  I have tried contacting the layout code creator but she did not respond to me so hopefully someone here will be able to help.

Here is the LJ in question - community.livejournal.com/jlalegacyrpg/

As you can see in the post titled "BAD TAG SPACING EXAMPLE" the tags field is overlapped by the "leave a comment" link, so you can barely see the latter.  It would be better if the "leave comment" link was situated on a higher, seperate line to the tags field.

The second and only remaining problem is that the "friends" page has an error which causes two problems.  For starters, the posts here do not show up with rounded corners at the bottom left, as they should and do in other pages, and furthermore the corner image is displaced by itself at the bottom of the screen.

If anyone thinks they can help at all, please let me know, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

- Jaxon

I've tried out several S1 layouts, from ljlayouts and many others, and NONE of them work. The images don't show, the tables don't line up, and I've tried them in both Firefox and Internet explorer, and still nothing.

I do everything it says on these websites, and nothing works, could anybody have a look at my journal and maybe try and assess what's going on?

Hi, I'm new here and new to LJ.
I was wondering if you need a paid account to have a custom page layout??
And if you don't what's the coding for one??
I can make graphics fine and I have a little knowledge of html and css but not that much.
Help would be really nice.

Peace,
meira. xx

Today, I decided to change up my userinfo a bit, but ended up getting a layout that was completely different.
I'm very happy with it, except for the fact that I can't get it centered.
I've tried using the center code that works with text in LJ entries, but it won't work.
Could somebody help me with fixing this?

Hello all.

I'm having trouble with my comment boxes... I would really like them to align to the right. Currently, they align to the left, so if I or someone else replies to a comment... it isn't indented. Instead, it is simply not as wide. It isn't a big deal, but it makes it much easier 'at a glance' to tell if a comment is a new one, or a reply, if I can just scan down the column and see if it is indented or not.

I know I sound like a total noob, but I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me :) I use flexible squares.

Hi there! I am currently working on a new layout and have two totally unrelated questions. My layout is Flexible Squares, and I have a paid account. :D

1. On my entry/reply pages, I am trying to find the coding that will change the dark green text color of the "From, Subject, Message," etc. Here is a screencap of it on my current layout, and I circled the dark green text in red. I have been searching everywhere in my coding but can't find it. It could quite possibly be a stupid error on my part, but I'd like to get it changed as the dark green looks even worse on the new layout I've created.

2. I know how to change the mood, music, and tags text in the S2 system, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the "location" text, as I've seen it done on someone else's lj.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'll be eternally indebted to you. Thank you very much! And if I'm leaving out any important information in order to get my questions answered, just tell me. I'll supply whatever is needed. Thanks so much!!!

Edit: I figured the first one out. Yay!

The first thing is: How do you change your links at the top of the layout? Underneath the title of my page, I've got two links; one to my userinfo the other to my calender. How do I add others?

I would also like to make it so that my userpic shows on each entry and that my tags show on the side of my page.

Any help would be really appreciated. To see my current layout, go to this page.

anyone willing to help a complete novice center a banner/photo on her layout?
it's a paid account and the current layout is "Tranquility II" if that helps.
please and thank you.

Hey everyone. A long time ago I had some trouble with the Sailor Moon layout made by Reb.

Apparently the maker doesn't have time for bug fixes right now, so I attempted to fix it myself. I tried for a long time without success but I FINALLY figured out what the problem was with the tables being misaligned with the header image. It wasn't actually the tables themselves that was the problem, it was the BACKGROUND IMAGE. It was far too big to align correctly with the header image. So I fooled around with different sizes and seem to have found something that works. At first I kept trying to save it as a png file and for some reason the colors weren't coming out right, but then I saved it as a jpg and everything matches perfectly now. Here's is the image if anyone wants to use this layout. Just save the image to your desktop and upload it to your own photobucket account (or whatever else it is that you use).

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d56/fragilemood/1024-1.jpg

Replace the new link in the layout where it says "sujabg.jpg" because the old jpg image wont work.

This should work in most desktop display settings too. I tried it in 1024x768 and 800x600. If you are using something way bigger, you will probably see a column of a darker color on the right side of the screen. That's because the background doesn't go past 1024 pixels in width. The layout still looks really good though, so if that doesn't bother you, then it won't matter :)

Here's a screen cap of what it should look like, along with a link to the journal I'm using it on. Let me know if anything looks funny on the journal.

There was also one more problem with the layout that I managed to fix. The default icon was half obscured by the header image, so I had to go in and change something to fix it.

Here's what you do. Find where it says "body { margin-top:340px;" in the layout code. Change the "340" to something bigger like "390". This will push your icon down so that it is fully visible. This should be the only other thing you need to change.

Hope that helps everyone!

PS should work in both firebox and IE. Also, if anyone wants an inksome.com invite, let me know!

I am trying to edit my links to add a story i just wrote and i keep getting the error:

"Submit from Disallowed class: LinksList" which scrolls over and over all the way down the page. I have emptied the cache and re-booted the machine. Signed in and out. Tried 5 times. Still getting this error.

Please, any assistance would be gratefully received.

I'm sure this is really easy and I'm being really dumb, but I'd like to make it so when you view an individual entry, the style of the page is the same as the style of my journal. Does that make sense? And I can't seem to find out how to do this...

Thank you in advance if anyone can help and if indeed it is possible if you have a free journal!

Hi, I am using the LJ three column layout. I personally haven't had any problems, aside from the fact that 2 or 3 of the graphics I have tried to put in the sidebar overlap onto my journal. But a few people on my friends list have told me that the entire sidebar is covering half of the sentences of the entries on my journal, and they can't read my posts.

I am not sure how to prevent this from happening. I have viewed my journal in both Internet Explorer and Firefox on my own computer and a few others and I have not seen this happen. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do to fix this?

On my current journal layout (thank you!) (still editing it), I have no idea how to make the dates show up anywhere in the entry. I don't know if it's in the CSS stylesheet or the journal customization thing.

Help, please?

No matter what layout I used, overrides I know have worked before or not, my header/sidebar will not show up. I've pasted individual codes as entries and the images will show up, but not within the actual overrides. don't really know what I'm doing wrong. help?

Hey, I'm using a modified flexible squares layout from the site, but I can't figure out how to put a date onto my entries underneath or next to the title. I really want to have some kind of date part. Does anyone know how to use CSS to do this? The link to the CSS file is http://www.ljlayouts.org/s2styles/flexible1.css. I haven't modified it much.

Thanks!

this should be really simple, but i can't seem to find it anywhere. i know you can put in a header image at the top of your page even if you don't have a paid account, because MOST of my friends do not have paid accounts and ALL have header images.

howsomever i can't seem to find any option anywhere that lets me either 1) upload a header image or 2) link to one at photobucket or wherever.

can someone please point me to the option in LJ that allows this? i have two lj's here [info]susannaheanes and here [info]prettyfreckles and they are desperately in need of the headers i have prepared for them!!

thanks and sorry for such an obviously simple question. i'll send cookies to the first person who answers it.
