Is your elected LJ user representative lying to you?
Your "elected" LJ User Representative has graced us all with one post. A single post, explaining why she's not said anything, and how she won't be saying anything or allowing others to send her comments. The reason she gives?

Unless our discussions are eventually made public, I am bound by non-disclosure agreement to not reveal anything that has been discussed.

Really? Wow, a representative of the users not allowed to discuss the user board's issues with the users. That's hard to swallow, but I was prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Yet a commenter in another journal notes...

I'm really bothered that she says the non-disclosure agreement prevents her from saying anything yet from attempting to translate the Russian rep's page, he lists concerns and descriptions of the meeting (which he actually made) beyond that of just minutes, something she claims she cannot do. Which says to me either the Russian rep is violating the terms or she's lying. Since his LJ is open to comments and isn't playing the victim, I'll let you guess which LJAB member I believe.

Damn.

Furthermore, our "elected" representative chides us as such:

AB business will not be taking place here in my personal LiveJournal. No AB-related posts will be made here. Again, this is my personal journal, and not a sounding board for the community. I ask everyone to respect that.

Great. Fair enough. Where will we be able to talk to you directly, personally, as our representative? Not in a community where the other board members are, but to you, directly, without others who aren't supposed to necessarily have the users' best interests in mind.

At a minimum, a single post before the meeting saying, "Here are the things I intend to bring up, does anyone have anything else that should be discussed?" might be in order. No NDA violation there. Yet there's been one meeting already, and we didn't even know about it!

Color me unimpressed with the "go to hell" attitude given by our "elected" representative. And yes, I put "elected" in quotes because I still maintain that the election was a fraud. LJ agreed that there were sockpuppet votes that would be eliminated, yet they invalidated a sum total of zero votes. And the whole debacle of the "death threats" is still an open issue. LJ said police were notified. There's no report of that, and that's public information. LJ refuses to give any details, including a case number, and the SF Police (to whom LJ said they reported the issue) has no record of it.

Draw your own conclusions. Someone gets an all-expenses trip to Turkey (quite a nice prize).

Our "Elected Representative?"
Your elected user representative, [info]legomymalfoy, has posted her one and only public journal entry since the "election" was completed.

It's berating someone she claims is spamming her and giving instructions on how to ban that person.

No comments allowed.

Again, this is your "duly elected" user representative - you know, the one who doesn't talk to users, has a fully-closed journal and has banned anyone who's ever asked her a critical question.

Apparently the "spammer" is just someone doing whatever it takes to try to get some kind of interaction from our "elected representative."

This is truly sad.

Hello my minions! We have some announcements to make. Firstly, dear [info]cambler, my personal favorite candidate, has left the race. (Sorry if this ruins an official announcement from him.)

Moreover, it seems that someone is threatening a candidate or candidates unknown. Like, with violence. Law enforcement has been mentioned. So, [info]ljelects, what do you think of these latest developments?

Pointe and Counterpointe
I've gotten a few comments from people who've asked about my default user icon as a result of the exposure provided by the LJ Advisory Board election, so I thought I'd take a moment and clue you in.

The shot is called, "Pointe," and it was taken at the Preston saw mill in Preston, Washington, about 30 minutes east of Seattle. The mill was abandoned in the early 1970's and has been sitting, in state, ever since, slowly decaying. The model in this shot is Carlise Lamb, who is actually standing en pointe barefoot. Ouch. I couldn't do that! This shot was done in the doorway to the old machine shop at the mill, which is one of those halfpipe metal roof buildings (what are those called?). Even on a bright, sunny day the inside is rather dark, so doing a silhouette was quite easy. We had to be very careful that she didn't step on anything dangerous, of course. The location is full of old nails - I once stepped on one that was sticking out of a board. The nail went through my shoe and into my foot, and necessitated a tetanus booster later that afternoon. Ouch, twice.

Images - not *quite* NWS, but just to be safe... )

The fun with this shot came about 15 minutes later, when we were shooting outside. Apparently, someone was able to see the nude model from the street, some 120 meters away. Really, you'd have to be looking for something, and I guess they were. The county sheriff showed up and kicked us out, citing trespassing. The problem is that the mill is on county parks land - it's actually designated a county park - and, as such, one cannot be trespassing. So after that incident I got permission from the county to shoot there, in writing. I spent all of 2007 shooting at the mill for a book (to be entitled, "Run of the Mill"), but wasn't harassed by the sheriff again.

But I now have a nice letter from the county, giving me permission to shoot there any time I want.
