Hi there everyone,
My partner and I are in a pickle. We had been planning to go to Ptown this weekend with a good friend. We planned it for about a month but he just bailed last minute. This means that we absolutely cannot afford the place we were going to be staying. This also means that it's way too late to book anything else. Right now we're looking at a place that's just about $200 a night and 30 minutes away.
I was wondering if anyone out there that's even 45 minutes or so from Ptown would host us. We could give you money for the stay and we could even bake you something. We don't need much. We have an air mattress.
We're two chill, down-to-Earth queers. We wouldn't be stumbling in drunk or anything. What do you think? Also, we're in Boston and would love to host you if you came down.

So yesterday we checked out Thuan Loi Restaurant, which serves Vietnamese food in South Yarmouth, at 1300 Main Street (Route 28). It's a tiny place (six tables), but surprisingly light and airy inside. The ceiling is very high and the walls painted white and decorated with (I assume) Vietnamese totchkes.
We both got Pho (Vietnamese Noodle Soup) which was delicious! I got Pho with Rare Steak, Beef Brisket and Flank, </a></b></a>![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) kathygnome got the Pho Special Combo which has the addition of tendon, tripe and beef balls. A separate plate accompanied the soup loaded with bean sprouts, Thai basil and lime wedges, to be added to the soup according to individual taste.
It's no exaggeration to say I have not had noodle soup like this since I was last in San Francisco. The deliciously complex spicy broth would compare favorably with any number of places far better-known for this type noodle soup. I look forward to trying more noodle soups on the menu.
There are also a number of Vermicelli (Vietnamese noodle) dishes, Vietnamese salads and Chinese style offerings, (the usual appetizers, fried rice, and stir frys), which I would like to try and see Thuan Loi's take on them.
They also serve wine and beer, shakes (durian shake?) and an assortment of juices or juice and club soda.

My longtime good friend has started a taxi business based in Falmouth which serves all of the Upper Cape and beyond, including Logan and T.F. Green airports. They are open 24 hours. Give them a call at (508) 540-1290 or check out www.uppercapetaxi.com -- and if it's between 6am and 6pm you will normally be picked up by a guy named Jo Z, so tell him hi for me :D

On Monday night on HGTV's House Hunter show, the area feeaetured will be the outer Cape towns of Brewster and Wellfleet ... always a fun show if you like real estate shows.

I have applied for a job on Naushon Island. I have a question: HOW WOULD I GET THERE?! From what I understand, no cars are permitted on the island. Would I travel there by boat? Is the garage where I could park my car nearby? Thanks in advance for your help!

So this is a re-post, and we have had a few inquires, but please read below, and come out to the show in Chatham this Saturday! It's going to rule hard, and be bittersweet at the same time. Hopefully after May 10th, we will be back playing shows, and recording ASAP. Come check out the new stuff, maybe you will want to join.
Unfortunately, due to life plans/education/personal reasons a mutual decision has been made for Eileen to leave the band. Please come and give her a great send off on May 10th. We have recorded two great EPs with her, and played a lot of amazing shows with her, and hopefully this is for the better of everyone.
We have a bunch of unrecorded new songs, most of which not even played for a live audience yet and would love to record them as a full length/play shows/tour BUT we are going through a line-up change, and would like to know if you would like to be involved vocally? and or second guitar + vox? Must be ready to move forward, creative, friendly, reliable, dedicated, passionate, same age range, willing to tour, and able to put in a little bit of income towards the band, not much.

It would be awesome if everyone, and anyone could come to the show this Friday (flyer below!). The cause is the most important thing. The NOAH Shelter is having trouble keeping it's doors open, and could use the donated proceeds. Let's raise some money for them. It's $8, and for the amount of bands, this is nothing. You can come and hang out with friends and shoot pool if you don't like the bands? But the bands are great!
If you bring at least one non-perishable food item you will get $1 off admission. Try to bring something you wouldn't mind eating if you had to. Hehe. The food items are going to the NOAH's private pantry for their meal program.
ALSO- I am having some friends bake things to sell to raise even more money! Vegan, and Non-Vegan! Please buy some snacks! If you are willing bake something to donate to the cause, please do. Anyhow, Please please try and come! It should be a lot of fun! and we can all do something nice for people who need it, specially this time of year!

NOAH Services Center
The facility includes a 60-bed shelter serving the neediest among homeless individuals on Cape Cod. NOAH is the only shelter for individuals in Barnstable County. In 2003, there were 21,748 overnight stays at the shelter. More than 300 volunteers prepared and served 43,496 meals. The Services Center includes substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling, health care services, medical case management, legal clinics, housing search, HIV/AIDS prevention, educational services and job search assistance. The center provides outreach, advocacy and coordination of these services and related community resources.

NOAH is open every day from 4:30 pm to 8 am and serves men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. In 2004 NOAH served more than 550 different individuals from every town on the Cape and the islands. Our guests receive a bed and two meals, housing, employment advocacy and access to medical, substance abuse and mental health services. $45 provides all current services for one person for one day. Join our Pledge-a-Bed Program and help us continue to help others every day of the year.

The Living Sea is so fucking awesome! Thee Snow Boogie Thunder rocks your underwear off. Phantom Dick (Kat of Tape Eaters new band), I know you have never seen them play live! REALLY GOOD! Dustin and the Furniture, FOLKish from Boston - ON TOUR> SUPPORT! Please please come. This is a new venue for our little scene (your new one), and so far it's only seen Reggae, Hip-Hop, Folk, Jam, and Experimental. Let's make a good thing happen so we can keep booking bands here. Please come out. It's a suggested donation of $5 for bands! If you are poor, don't worry.. but try to throw anything in the pot at least. UM.. So please please come! Try your hardest! My favorite radio station of all time, "Cape 104", has come back, so I decided to do an update (half-parody, half-cover) of one of the funniest things I have ever heard come out of that station. Basically, one of the characters from the original decides to come back over 20 years later with her partner and daughter. Hilarity ensues. If you know or remember the original by Al Matthews & Jon St. John, this should bring back some fond memories of 1985.
