Hello,
I am currently having trouble downloading one of my communities, it cuts off after partial download and says that the server is busy (or not responding) no matter how many times I tried it would not go past a certain post number. I know that this is not because it is a large community, it is only 200+ posts and only 1 year old, I have downloaded larger communities with no problem. Currently ljarchive tries to download the entire community archive from the very first post. I was wondering if ljarchive can do partial downloads instead, for example the latest 20 entries etc. or at least start archiving from the latest post down? Thank You.

I have ljArchive and I can view the entries from the community, but not the comments. What should I do?

Hi, I've downloaded my whole community correctly but when I look at the comments statistics, it shows correctly the numbers for every LJuser exect mine! It says I did 0 comments and recieved 0 comments! Can you help me with this?
And I would also ask if it exist a plugin similar to this but for the entries. I would like to know how many entries every user has done. Thank you!

I'm still trying to use LJArchive but still coming up with this message:
the server requires that you set your encoding setting before your journal can be downloaded. This setting can be found at your journal's website, at the bottom of the 'edit personal info' page in the 'auto-convert older entries' form box
even though i've uninstalled it and started right from the beginning. Does anyone know how to fix this please?

I've used ljarchive for about the past two or three years, never had a problem with it, and recommended it to everyone I knew -- it always worked great, without a hitch.
HOWEVER. I recently changed my LJ's name for personal security reasons. I chose the option where your old LJ's name is not connected to the new one. Now I can't log in to my old archive, the one that has my original LJ name. I tried making a new LJ archive with my new login, but my LJ is quite large -- it goes back to 04 and has, according to ljarchive, 9,443 posts -- and I keep getting this error message:
'The server has aborted the sync due to repeated requests. Please try again later. (It usually takes an hour to reset.)'
EF.ljArchive.Engine.ExpectedSyncException: An expected exception occurred: RepeatedRequests ---> CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcFaultException: Server returned a fault (406): Client error: Client is making repeated requests. Perhaps it's broken? at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcSerializer.DeserializeResponse(TextReader trdr, Type returnType) at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcClientProtocol.ReadResponse(XmlRpcRequest req, WebResponse webResp, Stream respStm, Type returnType) at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcClientProtocol.Invoke(Object clientObj, String methodName, Object[] parameters) at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcClientProtocol.Invoke(String MethodName, Object[] Parameters) at XmlRpcProxyc259899d-9f22-432d-8031-93e6ebd4019c.GetEvents(GetEventsParams ) at EF.ljArchive.Engine.Sync.GetEvents(OptionsRow or, ILJServer iLJ, SyncItemCollection& sic, SyncItemCollection& deletedsic, EventCollection& ec) at EF.ljArchive.Engine.Sync.ThreadStart() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
Can anyon etell me WHAT is going on here? I'll be really upset if I lose ljarchive as a backup source -- it's really reliable and I love how it works. I've tried waiting an hour, waiting two or three hours, waiting overnight....nothing works, and I always get the same error message.
Anything?

I'm trying to download my latest journal entries but am getting an error message saying:

Can anyone point me in the right direction to sort this out please as I've had a look and can't seem to find anything. I don't know why this is happening because it's always worked okay before now, and I haven't changed anything?

I had about three years of journaling that went down the tube when GJ died. I downloaded the archive program, including the patches, and it still wouldn't retrieve my entries...
( Here's what I got back as a message... )
Is there anything I can do to fix this???
Thanks!

Hi, this is probably a very dumb question, but I need help. I clicked the links on sourceforge to download, and now I have a folder (ljArchive-0.0.7-doc) than contains many different files (like content, default ef.lj....). What do I do now to actually install this program? I have the windows net thing installed, so I'm not sure what to do next from here. I haven't been able to find any manual or anything, so any help with this would be much appreciated:)
Thank you!

Hello, all! Hopefully someone will be able to help me...
Because GreatestJournal made no effort to contact the users of their site, I was unaware that a game I moderated from 2004 to 2006 was lost completely. I have all of my own logs backed up, but I am unable to speak for the other players, and there were also some notices and news files posted on the OOC community that I was hoping to keep regardless. When I tried to access the site, there was nothing, but when I tried to access a specific journal, it lead me here, saying that there was still an opportunity to retrieve an archive of the journals and community. Does anyone know how to do this? I also tried the Wayback Machine, but it didn't work.

If I wanted to download an archive copy of my livejournal in csv but with comments how might I do that? I note that livejournal has a utility to do this here
http://www.livejournal.com/export.bml
But this is without comments. Is there a simple way? Any help from the geeky set would be appreciated!

I've used LJbook and Lulu to order a copy of my LJ. Now I'd like to use LJArchive to have a book made of a journal that has been deleted off the internets.
On this page: http://fawx.com/software/ljarchive/ it says: Export your journal into various formats, such as XML, HTML, PDF (in conjuction with LJBook), and MIDI (yes, MIDI!).
I looked at LJArchive Export button, and I see HTML writer, Midi writer, and XML writer. No option for PDF or LJBook. I looked at the LJbook website again http://www.ljbook.com/ljbook.html and I don't see an option to use an LJArchive file.
within Ljarchive, If I click on XML export, it shows a little pop-up screen that says this is useful for working with lj book. and it gives an address ljbook.com/xml.html which is an "unknown page" error. Hrm.
So, does anyone know how to make a PDF of my archive that I can use on Lulu?

When the scare about LJ hit, I downloaded and saved all my entries. I sync about once a week and since yesterday I've had nothing but problems. It only gets about half way through my entries and then I get this:
ljArchive Error: CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcFaultException: Server returned a fault (502): Server error: Database temporarily unavailable at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcSerializer.DeserializeResponse(TextReader trdr, Type returnType) at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcClientProtocol.ReadResponse(XmlRpcRequest req, WebResponse webResp, Stream respStm, Type returnType) at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcClientProtocol.Invoke(Object clientObj, String methodName, Object[] parameters) at CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcClientProtocol.Invoke(String MethodName, Object[] Parameters) at XmlRpcProxyaaf128eb-e145-4b4d-98de-1f471c874969.SyncItems(SyncItemsParams ) at EF.ljArchive.Engine.Sync.SyncItems(OptionsRow or, ILJServer iLJ, SyncItemCollection& sic, SyncItemCollection& deletedsic, DateTime& lastSync) at EF.ljArchive.Engine.Sync.ThreadStart()
Is anyone else getting this?

I was reading back in some older entries, and saw that about a year ago, someone patched another bug having to do with syncing more than 10,000 comments. The file is here:
http://community.livejournal.com/ljarchive/47119.html
Does anyone have the source for this patch? If you do, please post it (and tell me where it goes - I know nothing about C# or app development; I'm all web dev) so that I can add it in when I patch the program for the other bug someone posted about recently.
Thanks!

I have a very large community I wanted to work with, particularly using the XML Writer. However it always seems to crash at the same journal post, regardless of what increment I export it in.
( The error message )
As for what the XML file looks like at the end, it seems to just cut it somewhere after a certain journal post. It may cut into the comments a bit, it might even end abruptly before a tag is opened or closed. However it has no problem at all exporting as a MIDI or XML file.

forgive me if I missed an FAQ somewhere ...
I got it installed & it gives me an error that I don't have my encoding settings done. It tells me that at the bottom of the Edit Personal info page, there is a setting "auto-convert older entries from:" box.
I don't see it.
Is this because I'm still on the S1 journals vs the S2? I saw no need to update (& still don't, other than this) so I would rather not if I don't have to.
Help?
( In case is helps ... full error info: )

Thank you for the folks who have been helping with ljarchive issues!
Last night, I noticed something new. The ljarchive file created when I started was only around 16KB. That’s not that big of a file. I’ve got word templates at work with NO info that are bigger than that; I just checked. Several hours later when the bottom toolbar of ljarchive said something like, “Syncing 755,300 or 954,400” and was continuing to climb, that ljarchive file was STILL 16KB. Read: I’d downloaded nothing additional in all those hours. It LOOKED like the program was working and things were being downloaded, but nothing was really happening. That seems pretty bizarre! The program itself MUST be getting hung up and NOT something in internet-land or on the livejournal servers.
I still have a sneaking suspicion that I have some system issue – the way the program is profiled or one of my firewall settings that is hanging up the archive process. I just wish I could figure out what that setting was!
