AboutWelcome to the LiveJournal NaNoWriMo community! LJ promised to give NaNoWriMo a $1 for every LiveJournal user who finishes this year* and we need a way to know which LJ'ers are participating so we can look for your names on the finishers list. All you have to do is join the community and give us your NaNo username or number. At the end of the month we'll check our list against NaNo's and come up with a grand total.
To keep you motivated, we're also going to give away 5 free one-year paid accounts to a random selection of LJ users who join the community and finish.
If you want to keep your noveling friends motivated with an encouraging v-gift, we're donating 50% of the proceeds to NaNo's Young Writers Program.**
Or you can pick one of our writing-themed templates to keep you going in the wee hours.
And if you're busy raising funds for the NaNo Write-a-thon, here's another bit of motivation: We're sponsoring what we think is the grandest of the Grand Prizes---the LiveJournal Laptop! It's a beautiful, ruby red Dell Studio 15 laptop and we'll be giving it away at the Write-a-thon in San Francisco on November 15.

**To determine net proceeds, LiveJournal will deduct only the actual expenses relating to the credit card transactions. Each credit card provider and payment processor charges varying fees. Typically the fee involves a fixed fee per transaction plus a percentage of the sale price. In determining net proceeds, LiveJournal will not deduct any other expenses, such as salaries of employees, cost of servers, or any other operating costs. The net proceeds will be donated by LiveJournal on its account and not on behalf of the purchaser. Purchasers will not be entitled to any tax credit or deduction otherwise applicable to charitable deductions by individuals.
