My dear Ljer's.

Vote for me.

I've been active on Lj for about six years now (see:[info]khaosmoon) I started in college. Here are some reasons why I should be elected.

-Lj needs risk takers. I am a huge risk takers. I moved to South Korea from my comfy suburban existance virually on a whim last October and am loving it, even though there was potential for huge disaster.

-I'm the face of diversity. I'm a out and proud homosexual, with a strong stance against using the word "faggot" and other hate speech words that are sometimes freely tossed around in communities (you want to use it in your own journal go for it, not cool in communities).

-I have a good sense of hilarity and can take a joke as good as I can dish one out.

-I have celebrity endorsements! [info]elysesewell and I are good friends and often cavort around Seoul causing mayhem, when she's in town. (Well I would have her endorsement if I bothered to tell her about running and not just up and decided to on a whim at three in the 2:00 in the morning...I'll get around too it)

-I've been active in several communities. and held office in a number of clubs in college, including my fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, as well as my colleges Gay Straight Alliance (co-founder and first President).

thats all I got!

I also promise gold, fortune, superpowers and a one night stand with the historical character (dead or alive!) of your choosing, upon my election.

Vote for me.

I'd like your vote... here's why.
I'm a new father and a slow poster, but I'm not a new face: I joined LJ for the second time in 2006, after stints blogging with Movable Type, WordPress, Blogger... and that old favorite, notepad/HTML. On December 3rd 2007 I asked in a post: "So, who is this company that just bought LiveJournal?" when others hadn't even known the change was happening. Because I was afraid it meant the end for LJ, right after I returned to the it.

I'm not an easy joiner, because I hate when the communities I join turn into something I don't like, or just plain disappear. But there are enough familiar faces, promise and plain good stuff here in LiveJournal I took the plug. Now I want to help make sure this community I've joined 'keeps on keepin' on' just the way it has through three different ownerships and an epoch of internet evolution.

THe LJ Advisory Board memebership will help steer the big wheel of mixed interests that will determine what roads this community travels. I want on this board. Short and to the point: if you will help me, please vote for me by adding a comment to this entry.

Thank you very much for reading.

Bio: John Mierau is a husband, father, dog-walker and writer.

He is also a trainer, IT consultant and internet dweller puzzling how internet technologies change our perception of ourselves and broaden our definition of - and participation in - reality.

A bit too much a geek for his wife's comfort, John lean towards environmentalism, participatory democracy & simplifying life... but still buy disposable diapers, forget to vote sometimes and own way too much stuff.

Put me behind the wheel - I won't let you down
Yes, I'm aware that I have less than twenty-four hours to garner the 100 comments necessary, but after reading through a (huge) number of the applications, I'm not enthusiastic about the seriousness of this whole concept.

It's not a popularity contest, though many parts of LJ get used as such.

It's not a see what I can do, though many parts of LJ are used as such.

It's an election to a board of user-level representatives who will do their best to give input to the PtB at LiveJournal/SixApart that will best serve the multitudes of users who call LiveJournal home.

Why me? )

In short, I think I can help. Please help me to help you.

Elections closing tonight
The nomination process is now closed.

I'll be counting supports again overnight, but if you've gotten 100 and feel I've missed you (or you're just anxious to get your email from me with the Nomination Certification), please send me a private message and I'll reply as soon as I'm able. If you have sent back your Nomination Certification and *not* gotten an email from me saying I've received it, or if you receive one tonight, please be sure I've received it back before 4:00 PDT on Friday, May 16, 2008.

The next event in this community will be the election poll. The poll will be posted on May 22, 2008 and be closed on May 29, 2008.
