Thank you for listening to your users concerns. Notification about flagged entries is a very important thing and I'm glad to see you guys are willing to implement that.

Are we going to get some clarification about the "taste, decency, religious, and political concerns" addressed in the lj_2008 post? Not many people know about that post, but everyone I've sent a link to has been completely outraged. That's something you really need to fix. We don't want to be told our politics can't be expressed on LJ.

ETA: Looks like there's a new post in lj_2008. It eases my mind somewhat, but not completely. You mentioned freedom of expression for religion, but not for politics or taste and decency. As long as my taste isn't illegal (ie child porn) it should not be under question.

I couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous that "freedom of expression" and "the pursuit of happiness" is only okay if no one objects. That's just backward!

Yeah, is there someplace that lists out all official communities? I usually just check on the main page under Livejournal News for updates. Maybe list all of them under there, or if there's too many have a link directing us to a listing of all the rest and the title of their most recent post.

Why is all of this garbage even necessary? The only complaints I've had in the six years since I joined have been regarding these new policies, starting with "the war on fanfic."

If the LJ team continue down this nigh-draconian path, I'll spearhead my own little exodus over to Greatest Journal.

This is a meta-comment about the official LJ communities. It's a repeat of other comments, but I'm making it anyway. d-:

Specifically, this post indicates the somewhat absurd number of communities that one must follow in order to keep up with all of LJ's announcements. For heaven's sake, this post can be read as basically "in case you didn't bother to friend this other community [that has important stuff about LJ], you might want to go over there and take a look." This is all much too fine grained! I have no idea what the substantive difference between all the communities is supposed to be.

My suggestion: Two communities for all these announcements. You can keep [info]news for "press release" like items (that's all it seems to be used for). Use second community for almost everything else ([info]lj_biz, [info]lj_policy, etc.).

Make a NEWS or OFFICIAL LJ community to collect all updates, news, policy, biz etc whatever journal posts. It is positively insane to ask a user base to follow so many different journals just to get a whiff of new important changes to the community.

Why not:
♥ Merge, say... this community with, oh, I don't know... [info]lj_policy?
♥ Announce system maintenances and new releases/design changes in [info]news?

It seems like those two changes would lessen the friendlist clutter for those of us who, while wanting to stay in the loop, cannot keep up with/have lost count of all these official communities. .-.;;

Or, y'know, maybe you could just announce everything in one place. Maybe [info]news?
