Welcome to the Living D/s Discussion Forum!

Introduction

We are an adult community for discussion of the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of living in a D/s (dominant & submissive) relationship. We are openminded, accepting of all sexualities and relationship styles.. but hold a strong and deliberate focus for discussion on the dynamics of exchanging power.

This is a supportive environment -- asking for clarification or further explanation, general questioning and discussion is always welcome but personal attacks will not be tolerated. Our intention is to share our thoughts, experiences, insights and support. Experienced, real-time dominants, switches and submissives are long-time members here, available to answer questions, concerns, or comments made by others.. but no matter how experienced we are, we all have questions and perspectives worth sharing. Everyone needs some support, sometimes.

Discussions should remain focused on relationship aspects of dominance and submission, and specifically not on sex or bdsm play. There are many other groups on LiveJournal that welcome broader discussion of and focus on BDSM - we list other lifestyle communities we know of below.

(Just a note: when we mention "D/s" in general terms, it is meant to cover all power-exchanging relationship dynamics. Just as when we say "dominant," "switch" or "submissive" -- it's meant in generality to cover each's own personally preferred title.. be it Domina, Master, Mistress, Lord, Goddess, Daddy, Mommy, Bear, Leatherman, Submissive, Slave, Pet, Property, Girl, Boy, Boi, Little Boy, Lil Girl, Leathergirl, Leatherboi, Pup, Cub, etc..)

Moderation

Posts to the community are moderated in the beginning of your membership. They are held in a queue for approval by one of the moderators, before they show up for others to read. Off-topic or inappropriate posts will be rejected, or the author will be asked to amend them. Posting guidelines, while described here, are summed up on this group post. (Must be a member to view entry.)

Taking a member off of moderation is up to the moderators' discretion; usually a member is marked as unmoderated after they show they understand and follow the focus of this group. Once a member is set as 'Unmoderated' they will be able to make subsequant posts without approval. For this reason, introductory posts are particularly welcomed. Tell us a bit about yourself, where you come from, how you became involved in the lifestyle, etc..

The moderators fully intend to use the tools LiveJournal provides to keep this discussion forum on-topic, friendly and supportive. Wherever possible, this will be accomplished with a friendly word, but removal of Unmoderated status or banning from posting entirely are options. The moderators decision on what is appropriate and on-topic is final.

Photographs

Living D/s is now allowing personal photographs to be published as a part of your posts!

Images have the ability to enhance the text of an entry, giving members a window into your world. If you're not sure how to post pictures, please see the FAQ page for adding images to your profile, posts and comments.

LiveJournal has its own Scrapbook Service for Plus and Paid Accounts to upload your images and is really easy to use. If for some reason you cannot or do not want to use the Scrapbook, free hosting sites such as Flickr and GlowFoto are available.. you must know HTML coding and please check each site's Terms of Service before uploading pictures! (GlowFoto hosts adult images.)

Image Requirements:

Pictures must be taken by you, a partner or a friend, must be uploaded to your own account (no hotlinking!) and they must relate to your post's subject matter. Pictures that contain BDSM images and/or sexual activity are not allowed and entire posts will be deleted if you break this rule.

Up to three (3) photographs are allowed per post, if you have more please provide links with descriptions. All images must be underneath an LJ-Cut with photo content description.

Members must warn if pictures are Not Safe For Work (NSFW).

Images can include people, spaces in your home reserved or made up for D/s interactions (for example: a "slave's room," a cage in a dungeon or a tea service set up), personal items such as collars, leashes, tattoos, brands, personal diaries, contracts.. and events such as collarings, weddings, etc..

Group rules

1. You must be 18 to participate in this group; please have your birthdate visible on your profile when submitting an intro (or first time) post for consideration.
2. Stay on topic, as defined in the introduction.
3. All posts to this community (as of 1 April, 2008) are closed to members only.
4. Using the LJ-Cut tool is mandatory (and appreciated) if your post is longer than 3 paragraphs.
5. No posting about sex or BDSM play, unless that is essential to illustrate a post that is primarily about a D/s relationship dynamic.
6. Any entries containing BDSM content MUST be placed behind an LJ-Cut with a warning of content.
7. No spamming, nor advertising for partners.
8. No photos depicting sexual interaction nor BDSM activity.
9. Cross-posting is strongly discouraged.
