Hey :D

So, I decided to delete iTunes from my laptop (PC) cos I was sick of it raping my machine, so did so, moved all music over to Windows Media Player and took a load of music off an external hardrive and added this to WMP also. Deleted iTunes and went on my merry way. Realised half an hour later, I have a bloody iPod!!!!! I need to use iTunes to sort music out on my iPod :( Readded Itunes and thought, ok, I need to add all the music I took off the hardrive into iTunes (which is all on WMP), but have no ideas how or where it is :s

What im askin is this............ Is there a way of moving music from WMP onto iTunes, as I have tried lookin through files on my laptop to locate the music on WMP, but cannot find it.

Maybe worth noting that I just dragged the music straight onto WMP from the files on the hardrive.

Would I have to hook up the external hardrive again and copy all the music from there, or is there another way of importing without resortin to this?

Thanks :D

xxx

You don't need itunes. Use Winamp instead.

Ahhhhh cool. Would I be able to get the music off WMP to Winamp without having to hook up the hardrive and doin it all again?

If you right click the tracks in WMP you should be able to click "open file location" to find out where they are stored :)

Okies..... I know what I was doing wrong last night. I was clickin on the album itself and not the songs, I have got the option to locate, but its not actually doin anything. Is the music just stored on WMP? It can't be can it? It has to be somewhere.

Found loads of music that is stored on the laptop, but none of the music that I took off the external hardrive and put straight into WMP....... Where on earth could they be?

Looks like im gonna have to just import everything from the EH again aren't I?

If you simply dragged the files and dropped them into media player all it will have done is put links to the files in it's library and basically sit there and go "the files live on that external hard-drive". You would have had to copy the files to the Music folder in your computer and then pointed WMP at that to actually have the files on the computer.

I use Floola too. Great thing about it is that the program itself gets stored on your iPod so you can use it on any computer.

Good call on deciding to remove iTunes from your PC - you should see a big improvement. Also be sure to delete QuickTime as well. I like Apple but their software on the PC just plains sucks.

Be sure to 'de-authorize' your PC before you actually remove it this time though or you'll lose that slot.
