hello everyone, I have a question.. how can I change the quote in the mood thingy? thank you. | | Monday, June 13th, 2005 | 3:01 pm [toronto1313] |
a suggestion I have a suggestion for the developers of livejournal. Can you please make it possible for us to remove someone off not only our friends list but also off our FRIENDS OF list? When you ban someone from your journal your username will still appear on their friends list but this way your username won't even be displayed on their friends' list. Greatest Journal allows you to do this, you might want to check it out here: http://www.greatestjournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=78
Or can you make a system where someone has to request permission from you before adding you?
Thanks. | | Sunday, June 5th, 2005 | 9:50 pm [ms_freak112] |

Question. For layouts where it shows your icon everytime you post, how do you make it a different icon each time? Can only paid accounts do it? Everytime I tried, it made all of the icons the same. Thanks in advance. | | Friday, April 22nd, 2005 | 7:44 pm [nehikat]

So, whose idea WAS it ...
...to remove the actual login box from http://www.livejournal.com? Granted, it's only a minor inconvenience ... one extra click to get to the login page (and actually, I just changed my LJ bookmark to http://www.livejournal.com/login.bml instead) ... but without exception, every LJ user I know who I've talked to this morning has complained about it and asked why it was changed.
I mean, I can see getting all the logins consolidated from http://www.livejournal.com/ to http://www.livejournal.com/login.bml, but if you're going to make an unannounced change like this, a more obvious "Already have an account? LOG IN HERE" link of some kind would be a good move. I know a couple of people who looked at the changed front page and asked, "Uh .... so how do I log in, now?" | | Thursday, March 17th, 2005 | 11:51 pm [unixronin]

PSA:: FreeiPods.com are dirty spammers
Not only are they buying popup ads that defeat Firefox's popup blocking, the bastards are comment-spamming LiveJournal. Current Music: ZZ Top - Rough Boy | | Thursday, March 3rd, 2005 | 2:40 pm [unixronin]

Strikeout in subjects used to work .... ....and now I've just today discovered that it doesn't any more.
Anyone know why?
(Update: I've just determined via a simple test that doing it with CSS doesn't work, either.) | | Saturday, February 12th, 2005 | 2:13 pm [exhaledeeply]

Hey, guys? Odd thing. At my main 'LiveJournal.com' page, everything is at the top, in blue colours. Like, you know. Journal, Manage, Search... But my friend Gigi asked me to delete her journal for her, so I signed on as her. it was all different, lots of colours and set up on the side. She didn't have a different acount (paid for, anyway..) but it was set up differently. Don't get me wrong, I like my set-up alot better, but why did that happen? The links were exactly the same. kthnkx. | | Tuesday, February 8th, 2005 | 7:09 pm [unixronin]

Is it just me .... ... or have a great many comment pages stopped working? Some journals, such as my own and ilcylic's, are still working. In others, such as micheinnz's and technoshaman's, suddenly all page loads for comment pages - whether to read or post -- are consistently failing.
And I can't view cuts in the affected journals, either. | | Wednesday, January 26th, 2005 | 11:34 am [unixronin]

Seeing a lot of ISEs today ....
...about every second or third reload of my friends page today has generated an internal server error while trying (and failing) to load a 404 page to tell me it couldn't find my friends page. | | Sunday, December 26th, 2004 | 8:05 pm [phire_chan]

My friend got an LJ account just today, and I was helping her with the layout. It's based on generator. But for some reason, when you go to the friends page, it only displays 10 entries instead of 30 like my override told it to, or even the default 20. As well, at the very bottom for the navigaton on the friends page, it just says [viewing|recent entries] and there is no [go|earlier entries] the friends are added correctly, and there are definitely more than 30 entries for her friends. does anyone know what the problem is? | | Thursday, December 23rd, 2004 | 4:55 pm [unixronin]

Workaround for Firefox not saving LiveJournal passwords
Recently I posted regarding a problem with Mozilla Firefox being unable to save LiveJournal passwords. This problem is now understood, and has to do with the secure login method LiveJournal implemented a while back. The basic problem is that by the time the submit fires off and Mozilla attempts to capture the password, the Javascript in the login page has already hashed the password, sent the hash, and cleared the password field, so there's nothing there for Firefox to save. Here's how you work around this problem, and it's stunningly simple: 1. Log out of LiveJournal. 2. Go into Firefox's Privacy options, open Saved Passwords, and delete the livejournal.com entry. 3. Load www.livejournal.com, and SELECT STANDARD LOGIN. 4. Login and let Firefox save the login information. Firefox now has your password properly memorized, and you can go back to using secure login from then on. | 1:34 pm [pearberri97] |

Layout question
Is there a tutorial or reference anywhere that explains how to extend an existing layout? I've extensively customized Digital Multiplex about far as I can go towards what I want through a user layer, but now I want to add additional properties to it, which I can only do in a Layout layer. What I can't figure out is how to create a Layout layer that's based on Digital Multiplex without just starting by copying the whole of Digital Multiplex in its entirety, which I don't really want to do.
