Hello everyone! I decided to write to this community only because soon in my life will happen one event that will change my life! I would never write here if it won't happen or I wasn't sure that's gonna happen!
Ok, I'm a 19-years-old girl from Ukraine. Like singer of Gogol Bordello - Евгений Гудзь - said this land is cursed by god and I agree. I would become crazy in this country if I won't know these grunge bands(my faves - Hole, Babes in toyland, 7 year bitch, Mudhoney, Meat pupets, Melvins, Some velvet sidewalk, Sweet 65, Monomen and many many many others). In my city I know just few of people who really sincerilly love grunge. aybe three or four guys and that's just killing me, and I don't even talk about making a band... that's just impossible! No one plays noise or punk rock or grunge! Everything that they know is just IDM and gothic or emo or russian rock!
For grunge and for music I change my life totally, i left university and went to work. But know I quit and have no work. But I need money for that crazy event! No, I'll find money but I'm i alittle shock, 'cause if I won't get into that plae I would die!
If I won't find money I will sell my guitar... my sweet fender...
But I will do it!
You know why?! BECAUSE SONIC YOUTH COME TO RUSSIA!!!!

grunge revival?

someone told me last week that my band sounded like an early 90's grunge band. we dont try to sound like anything in particular, we just write songs that we like. it doesnt surprise me though since most of my fav bands broke up before the turn of the century. some 90's musicians have new bands that still have the same old great sound like allison wolfe's band partyline and tobi vail's spider and the webs. maybe the scene is not dead...?

There were two bands in the 90s that changed my world living in Olympia. One was a little ska band by the name of Engine 54. Fast paced crazy stompin good times. The other was Tch Kung. Nutty hippies smearing mud-paint all over the frying half-naked crowd. If you know ANYONE with any of these two bands' CDs, please let me know. My Tch Kung tape recently broke and I'm really missing it. Help a girl out!

Hola

Right, I just joined so I'm saying hello. Am I supposed to tell my story?
I'll be 19 in a few weeks, meaning I didn't exactly get to experience things like concerts first hand, but I remember the music and everything surrounding it so vividly. I remember the early 90s better than I remember 2006 and every memory from back then is tied into music. My dad worked at a radio station and was really into music and he got to see everyone live and he exposed me to it all. In music class we were allowed to take in our own cds for the teacher to play and I took In Utero in like a week and a half before it was released and my music teacher was freaking out and I didn't understand why. I was in kindergarten and dressing in typical grunge attire. My friend's parents weren't into any of it at all and they certainly wouldn't expose their children to it so none of them remember it like I do and they really don't get it when I go on about how great it used to be. Oh, and my favorite band from the early 90s is Soul Asylum. Everyone makes fun of me for it. People don't want to be out in public with me when Runaway Train comes on. It is a top contender for best musical memory of my childhood. Anyway, I've got mental problems today because of all this. I can't accept the fact that it's 2007, so I pretend it's 1993 simply to survive. Anyway, I've got a bunch of old music related stuff, tickets, press kits, gig posters, shirts etc. from that era lying around my house that might be of interest. That's about it.

So i was here in plaid and ripped jeans

I think the saddest day and craziest day for me and turning point, was when i was 14 my friend Alison and i went to Kurt's memorial at the Seattle center. It was intense, sad, beautiful and spiritual... i remember it being cold but no one gave a fuck after lighting our candles, crying, and listening... a bunch of us ripped off our jackets and ran in the fountain and got soaked ,screaming, and dancing as they blared nirvana music...

I'll never forget it...
