I'm confused about how the series ends...
It's my understanding that the normal Little House series ended with the episode "He Was Only 12", then there was a spin-off called "A New Beginning" without the Ingalls family. This episode seems like a really abrupt ending. For the two hours Charles is mostly alone with James or Charles and Mr. Edwards are out hunting down bad guys. As the last episode that most of the Ingalls characters are in, why wasn't there more of a tribute to all their years on the show?
I try to watch on the Hallmark Channel. Do they show all the specials and stuff?
Thanks to anyone who replies!

Mary and Laura always talked about playing "two o'cat" and "three o'cat". It seemed to be some form of baseball, with a bat, ball and running, but I wanted to know exactly what it was. I couldn't find a full defintion, but from what I found I was right- two and three o'cat were forms of baseball, using 2 or 3 bases instead of four. Just thought you all might be interested in knowing that. If this is already common knowledge, excuse my ignorance.

12:13 pm - "Little House" Myth
|

shellcase
|
Ok, here is the scoop on the "Little House" myth.
Supposely Michael Landen blew up and/or burned down the Walnut Grove set. It is thought that he did this to prevent a reunion show from being made.
Well the true is that he did blow up the set in the final 2-hour show. But he did it so that the set pieces could not be used in other NBC shows or tv movies. He wasn't worried about a reunion show because no tv network did them then.

9:15 am - Why I Like "Little House".
|

shellcase
|
While I have never had the chance or time to read the books by Wilder, I remember watching the NBC tv show as a kid.
I liked watching the tv show because:
1. It examined life during a period of American history that is usually dominated by Indian wars and gunfighters. It shows how everyday people lived and tried to get by.
2. It shows how my great-grandmother (on my mother's side) grew up as a girl in the midwest. My grandmother told me stories about how my great-grandmother came across the Plains in a covered wagon to the Indiana-Kentucky area.
3. I liked comparing the fictional life of Wilder to the real life she lead. While the shows doesn't mention it, Wilder did live to the 20th century and get to ride in an airplane.
4. And while it examined everyday life for Wilder, it also showed how little life has actually changed over the decades. Many of the problems experienced by Walnut Grove are still experienced today.

The cable tv station TV Land is running a series of shows about Hollywwod myths and legends.
The most recent episode has a segment about "Little House" and its set being burned to the ground.
If you have seen it,. then share with us what the segment is about in more detail. If you haven't, then try to see it. I going to try to.

What happened to the first Grace Snider? It seems odd that a black haired lady played her later on. They could have at least dyed her hair or something!

12:56 pm - Hello to Fellow "LHOTP" Fans.
|

shellcase
|
Since first watching "LHOTP" on NBC as a small child, I have been interested in the lives and times of the citizens of Walnut Grove.
It is really cool to watch everyone grow into a large family through all the struggles they overcame.
Favorite Characters: Albert, Laura, Nells, Nellie, Dr. Baker and the black teacher at the Blind school.
I look forward to reading more here in this community about the show and books.

10:24 am - Why we love Michael Landon
|

athenaworth
|
I found this on IMDb trivia:
Michael Landon had a unique way of inspiring child actors to cry when required for a scene. Melissa Gilbert described how he would work himself up emotionally, face her with his eyes full of tears and ask her, "Do you know how much I love you?" to which she would get all teary and emotional in response.
That right there made me tear up. God I miss him. I'm sure he wasn't perfect, but he sure as hell was a lot better than my father.

I was browsing the net (looking for info on Frederick Holbrook - Laura's grandfather) and found this. It's a picture of the real Caroline and Charles Ingalls:

They look just a teeny bit different than I expected.

Hi Everyone! I'm new. My name's Amal and i just LOVE Little House. My friends all my fun of me because my favorite show is a rerun from the 70s but I don't listen to them. I just finished season 6 tonight....my favorite one!! I just got such goosebumps when Laura and Almanzo finally kissed!!!!(even though I've already seen the episode....it doesn't matter!!) I just ordered season 7....but i won't get that until I'm back at school cause I had it sent there. Boo.
Does anyone have any episodes on their computer that they could share through yousendit.com or something? Preferably not from season 6 because I've just watched them all.
Oh and does anyone have any icons? I'd love to have a couple :).
Thanks!

Another question- I don't remember the episode name, but two little boys run away from an orphanage and go to a man named Houston. I saw Mr. Garvy in the ep, but where are Alice and Andy? Was this after Alice was killed? And what happened to Andy?
