DEC. 5 EW SCANS

"On Saturday morning, after celebration news that the film had already taken in more than $35 million, Summit e-mailed a letter to Twilight fans, signed by stars Pattinson and Stewart, expressing their gratitude and delight at moving forward with a sequel. But the studio still hasn't confirmed whether the rest of the cast will be brought aboard for New Moon. Fans are particularly interested in whether Taylor Lautner, who is markedly shorter and more boyish-looking than Meyer's description of his character, Jacob, will return to vie for Bella's heart."

I love the fact that only Rob and Kristen are confirmed.

But I would like Taylor to come back.

omg me too! Henry! he is so sexy in the book!

lol true. Especially when she doesn't stick to writing one thing. I mean authors go off and write other shit; but when its like vampires, then mermaids, aliens, time-travel, and other shit. She should just write a series about wizards while she is at it.

oh, henryyyyyy. (ahaha, and i love clare because she's a redhead and, being a redhead, i pretty much love all redheaded characters. we don't get very much love in novels, so i gotta represent!)

oh jesus, for real. she like, doesn't know what she wants to write about so she she's just like LOL I'LL WRITE IT ALL!!!!!! obviously authors are entitled to write whatever the fuq they want, but it's one thing to write about vampires and then aliens and mermaids and then time travel, like you said. ahahahaha, i can only imagine if she wrote about wizards. everyone would go absolutely APESHIT and i don't know whether i would just laugh or kill myself.

also haha, did you notice how when she described the mermaid story she was working on, it sounded exactly like twilight? like, some girl nicknamed fishy feels she doesn't belong in her world and it's about mermaids and they like, eat humans or something. i was like, hmmmmm i have heard that plot before...

I agree.

Like I know Jacob is supposed to be 16 in the book, but in real life?

I think another actor would do Jacob justice since as he becomes a wearwolf he looks older and taller.

But Taylor will probably stay Jacob. :[

I really wish for Taylor to come back. He's really grown on to me, while watching the movie.
And what with his height....LotR did it with false perspective.

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]cosmo_jenny
2008-11-29 10:14 pm UTC (link)
They already are doing it with Ashley. (The height thing)
I think they just need to work out the height issue. Taylor is fit, he can easily put on a few muscles and step on a box if he needs to be taller than anyone he is shooting with at that moment.

LotR also did with loads of special effects but you are right, most of the times, the non-hobbits just stood atop of a box.

The thing I hate about Summit right now is that they really didn't listen. Everyone and their brother asked "And what about Jacob and Taylor in New Moon?" and they didn't listen, so now, they are facing a real dilemma.

I think at this point they need to make the original cast work by whatever methods necessarily. Essentially, the only thing to be concerned about is whether or not Taylor can pull of New Moon Jacob because everyone else was fantastic (not to say that he wasn't, because I actually liked him, but there are physiological concerns there). It would be strange, even though it was only one film, to start changing actors. Frankly, I can't imagine another Carlisle...or another anyone else, for that matter.

By 'cut off his hair' they meant that trim he had, right? If he cut it off it's news to me, although we know it's coming because he said on Seacrest he needs to for a role (Parts Per Billion?). If I were him, I think I'd say it was for a role even if it wasn't just to get rid of it for awhile and have a break from the "but how does it get that way?" questions.

I feel bad for Taylor, he sounds like such a nice guy. It's just that I hadn't pictured Jacob looking so childish. I suppose Catherine already looked into Steven Strait, she did say that she had considered all the fans' choices for Bella before ending up casting Kristen. So I can't see how she could possibly have failed to see the blatant Steven Strait lobbying. Either he didn't want to do it or when she auditioned him he wasn't good enough.

Jacob's supposed to be 15 in the first book though, so I don't think Taylor looked childish. I really liked him as Jacob, I was surprised. They just need to figure out how to make him look taller (I'm sure he will bulk up muscle-wise on his own).

They should re-cast, who in their right minds would doubt for a second if they had to choose between Edward and Failcob if Failcob is played by sharkboy?

They have to get someone that could really get a girl's heart to beat a bit faster, Taylor is just, well, lulzy.

I wouldn't worry about Taylor; he's 16, and I have no doubt he's going to grow like crazy and probably work his butt off to buff up! That'll also cause him to lose a little roundness in the face, i.e. become quite a bit more manly!

I hope New Moon does as well as Twilight. That is, they won't be able to trick as many people into thinking it's a horror movie, and hopefully the fans will show up in equally large numbers despite so many seeming to dislike Twilight.

I said this before and I want to say it again: they should work on a bigger budget, on better script, directing, editing, cinematography and better special effects before they even work the cast. The Twilight cast, in general, did fairly well; the rest of the movie just barely made it, if at all.
