I think two weeks would of been more than enough time for Twilight to still pwn at the office and for HP to still do well as always. But i guess this makes things just a tad better for it?

Now if " The day the earth stood still" or whatever the hell that movie is called could move up or down a week haha.

Is that a remake of the old movie? I don't think I even heard about it being redone.

I read that they pushed it back because of something to do with the Writes Strike, so they didnt have enough time to make it what they wanted. AND HOPEFULLY they are planning to add more scenes that are in the book, and making it better. (like the Gaunts!)
Which is why im not too worried, but then again if they pushed it back and its still not too good, well...im scared for WB because they might loose many fans.

Actual 'so-called real reasons' WB did this:

Warner Bros. has just announced that the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been pushed back and will be released on July 17, 2009 instead of this coming November. This news has been confirmed with Warner Bros. by HPANA.

Alan Horn, President and Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros. stated:

Our reasons for shifting Half-Blood Prince to summer are twofold: we know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers’ strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move Half-Blood Prince to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer.

Jeff Robinov, President of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, confirmed:

The release date change does not alter the production schedule for this or future Harry Potter films. Post-production on Half-Blood Prince was completed on time, and the studio’s release plans for the two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will not be affected by this change. We know Harry Potter fans are eagerly anticipating seeing the final chapters unfold onscreen. In fact, the good news for them is that the gap will now be shortened between Half-Blood Prince and the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

While producer David Heyman offered:

When Jeff Robinov explained the rationale behind moving the release date of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to July 2009, it was immediately apparent that this offered us the potential to reach the widest possible audience. I am extremely proud of this latest film and of the work of David Yates and our incomparable cast; I believe we have developed and pushed the series further still. We are all looking forward to sharing it with Harry Potter fans around the world, even if we have to wait just a bit longer.

And I find it the total opposite of awesome....

Somewhere in Summit's headquarters someone just opened a bottle of champagne. Or three.

I wonder what they really made them change the release date though. There's no guarantee that they'll make more money in July than they'll in November. In fact, if the latest Narnia movie is any indication fantasy does generally better around Christmas time. Not to mention that they just lost a few millions on wasted marketing.

I suspect that the real issue might be the movie itself. I wonder whether there will be reports of re-shoots.

I can't rememeber much, but it's not the first time they push back a HP movie, right? And I doubt it has ANYTHING to do with Twilight, since I'm pretty sorry but in terms of fanbase, HP is still bigger than us. Especially when it comes to the movies. HP has a widerr target, so if anyone should have been scared of the "competition", it would have been Twilight. Christmas is a tough time and there are plenty of good movies then.

I'm not sure why people are so interested in this piece of news in a Twilight comm, since this have probably zero to do with Twilight. HDU let his through Steph! :p
