Anyone else gonna go to Slo Deliverance tonight @ Linnaea's?

Slo Deliverance is a poetry reading, yes. It occurs monthly (first Wednesday at 7:30) at Linnaea's Cafe at 1110 Garden St. in SLO.Slo Deliverance is more than a poetry reading. It is a dream. It is a burning desire. It is a benchmark. It is a park full of benchmarks. It is a laboratory. It is a monthly therapy. It is a portal for pilgrims to peer into another world. It is a porthole for sailors of the spoken word to peer out at the passing partial panorama.

Today, Krystal (obduratecrimson) and I went to Linnaea's to check on our pretty little comp book. When we walked in, we saw our Human Sexuality teacher sitting at the table by the window grading papers or something. She waved and we wound up talking and it was odd. Very, very odd. Good thing she's a cool lady.

The point of this post is: You never know who you'll see there + Linnaea's is awesome. She was eating a SLO Roll or something like that, which I've never heard of.

If you stole the comp book that was colourful + had squares:

    1) you're a bad person for doing so.
    2) that's really uncool.
    3) please return it.

How has Linnaea's effected your life? Or has it? What memories do you have there?
My relationship with Linnaea's circles around a good friend. We were best friends and when she started going to Linnaea's I thought I was losing her. I was growing up and had never known the coffeeshop lifestyle, it seemed foreign, adult and scary.
Being with this friend was being at Linnaea's we spent so many hours there and talked with so many people. Being with her, she seemed to take charge and embue the world with such style and comfort. It felt like me and her against the world. The richness, trying new drinks, and new flirtations. Being independent and adult. I felt part of a culture. Coffeeshop then equaled hipness.
Something happened, because I misunderstood things, I expected that things would be as they were. We weren't friends any more. I no longer went to Linnaea's. But recently we met again, and Linnaea's was like an old friend, no longer sinister, new or adult, it was like a comfy old sweater thrown in the closet and forgotten, when I picked it up again, I saw the intricacy of the stitching, the smell of old wildflowers, the pale green color.
Thank you for being rich. Thank you for being stylish and lovely. Thank you Linnaea's and thank you, old friend- you're both beautiful to me.

    Enought sentimental drivel.

Too old to rock and roll; too young to die
I end up at Linnaea's for lunch today while I'm running around town doing stupid errands. I thought it would be nice to sit on the patio and have a nice iced latte. After I'm standing there forever while the barista tries to figure out how to make a drink for the guy in front of me I finally order my lunch and iced latte. She starts to make my latte. Meanwhile, six 20-somethings bound in--one obviously worked there--and started ordering drinks and whatnot. I took my salad and slinked off into the garden. Ten minutes later, I go back to the counter to get my latte. The same girl looks at me and says, "Can I help you?"
    "Yeah, I'd like my latte."
Clueless. She completely got caught up with her friends and made all THEIR drinks first. "Oh, I started to make it..."
Yeah, until all your friends distracted you. Sorry I'm just a boring old customer
Sometimes I got there and think, What am I doing here?
