ASL interpretation of Marilyn Manson
I figured this might be of some interest to people here.  This guy interprets the Marilyn Manson song "This is the New Shit.," and boy does he ever.

**Warning**
If you're easilly offended, or made uncomfortable hearing explicit lyrics/ signs / men wearing heavy make-up, then don't watch this.  Otherwise, it's the coolest thing I've seen in a long time.

That is fantastic. Now I'm thinking it would be a fun idea for bands to hire onstage interpreters during tours...after all, I learned the sign for "nipples" from a Moonie and Broon performance.

Some do, though not so much in the "mainstream" music community. There's a bluegrass festival in my hometown where Linda Tilton has been doing sign-singing for years along with the headlining performers. Her interpretation of John McCutcheon's children's song "Rubber Blubber Whale" is awesome.

Heh. My dear ex-boss was one of the interpreters for the Los Angeles leg of whichever Madonna tour involved her wearing cowboy hats. But yes, you'll find that there are a fair number of musicians/bands who will hire interpreters for their shows - not as a "fun idea" but to increase accessibility.

Btw, this video has made the rounds of [info]deaf, and another member of my flist, who's pretty active in some parts of the disability community, posted it, too ... along with a link to the same interpreter's version of "Make Me Stay" by Ani DiFranco. The guy's getting some *really* well-deserved viral publicity. :c)
