This has probably been asked before, but in the finale of the 10th Anniversary of Les Mis, they sing Do You Hear The People Sing in multiple languages. You can download it here (right click) if you want to listen to it.

Anyway, my question is - what are the languages and the lyrics in those languages? I'm guessing they're common ones like French (duh), German, Japanese, etc so answers should be coming in pretty quickly.

(French): "à la volonté du peuple et à la santé du progrès" (For the will of the people and the health (sake?) of progress -- Okay, so my French is rusty)
(German) "das ist die Symfonie von Menschen die nicht länger Sklaven sind" (That is the symphony of people who are no longer slaves)

The bit right before "when the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drum", is Dutch:
"van al die mensen die verdommen om nog langer slaaf te zijn"
"of all those people who refuse to be slaves any longer"

Ugh, I like Les Mis, but this just seems... in bad taste?

Not that world unity and everything are bad, but this seems too cheesy. Maybe I'm just not the Les Mis fan I thought I was.

And WTF is with the big explosion at the end?

It was the confetti. They had a nice long standing ovation that was perfect to play closing credits over.

And it's actually very cool on the broadcast; every Valjean sings a line, and it's fascinating to see all the different men, the different shapes and sizes and voices. The soundtrack doesn't really convey it at all.

I bought the DVD to that concert. It's the most amazing cast. Thanks for the link! Sorry I can't help with the lyrics =P

I recognized the Japanese in the song and it goes like this:

あなたに熱い命が始まる / 明日が来た時そうさすが
Anata ni atsui inochi ga hajimaru / Asu ga kita toki sô sasu ga.

I'm quite sure that's what's sung since the words are enunciated clearly. As for the meaning of it... Well... I leave it to more equipped translators. hehe :p

I think it's 新しい人生が始まり / 明日が訪れる.
A bit of googling found the complete japanese lyrics.

Ah, no, I'm afraid you're mistaken. The lyrics sung on the track and the lyrics you provided do not match. Maybe that's how it goes in the full Japanese version where the lyrics could have been changed.
