AboutWelcome to Linguafags. ... Yes, the name fag is in this community. If you haven't noticed, we queers are indeed reclaiming pejoratives and making something useful out of that.
This community is directed at GLBTQACDEFHIJKLMNOPwhatever language freaks, junkies, and anyone who can apply the label linguist to themselves (be it due to a degree or whatever). Here we can discuss whatever necessary that seems to apply to these two things, or heck, just language (but try to avoid asking for direct homework help-- there are probably be better, more active communities for it if it's 5AM, and you need it done now). hkitsune and alcarilinque, who noticed that there certainly seem to be a lot of language-oriented queers, and thought that well, LiveJournal needs to reflect this. So here we are. We're here, we're queer, and... polyglottal?
There are of course, a few guidelines and other useful mentionables to get you started: be nice, you may flame, but do not start flame wars, keep community promotion to the topics of the community, baudy posts allowed (i.e. "How do you say fisting in Korean?") but don't be afraid to use lj-cuts if you are afraid of offending NSFW sensibilities. Introductory posts are also quite welcome, on the other hand, please keep them polite and do not be condescending toward the community as a whole. It will make you seem much more lovable.
If you happen to be in the community and don't see something up there that should be there, leave a comment. Lastly, suggestions for how the community could change are welcome, and if you have a LJ icon you think might be better than the one we've got, feel free to suggest it. Well, anyway.
