This was the first real set I made on Polyvore. It was inspired by the sea green nail polish and then it just grew from there. I realized that I actually have a style even though every single day I wear the same thing: jeans, plain colored t-shirt and a hoodie. It's so boring and I hate it, but it's the easiest thing to throw on in the morning. I think the reason I've fallen into a style slump is that I gained a lot of weight (lost half of it) and couldn't wear a lot of my clothes and somehow I lost this funny, silly and stylish Diana in all of that. I'm trying hard to regain that sense of self that I had in college. I was so fucking aware as a Junior and then I just lost everything Senior year.

& since I don't want to make this post entirely dedicated to my whining & negativity, here is a photo of a really cute dog:

I'm so happy that she allows downloads of her photos because this dog is now my desktop background. :D

So, since I have about 500 Muppet videos favorited on YouTube, the site always shows me Muppet videos I'd like, and in this video's case, I don't just like it, I love it and watch it a LOT.

The site also shows some of her U.S. & European tour dates, some of which she is sharing stage with Conor Oberst, which makes me unspeakably happy.

Adam Green has been singing to me all morning, even when my music wasn't playing. You ever have that happen? Wake up with a singer in the back of your mind, singing songs to you that will invariably get stuck in your thoughts and insert themselves into conversations, and the words you choose to express yourself?

I am remembering Kate and I seeing him play at the Troubador. How unassuming and shy he seemed when we spoke to him, and how different he was on-stage - energetic, goofy, powerful. There is so much soul in his voice, a depth that hints at an age far beyond his numbers. Plus, the silliness, the absurd, the random - I have such a weakness for that.

So, I suppose he isn't too bad to have in a back of my head gig for the day.

!!! I want this "Keep Calm and Carry On" mug and the pink "Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake" print so much. I really wish I'd bought the former when we were in Barter Books last weekend. :(

And I don't even like pink that much but six/nine (hur hur) of my new icons have it as the predominate colour. Crap.

So, who wants to be interviewed?

This weekend is going to be made of awesome as long as if I can survive the crazy winds and rains that are coming our way on Saturday, but I have to make it because New Kids on the Block are going to be signing autographs at Newbury Comics -- Faneuil Hall -- on that day. And on top of that Lisa Loeb is going to be performing songs from her new children's album (who knew she had a first?) on Boston Common on Saturday too!

I also have to do laundry but that's not as exciting.

today was an amazing day.

nothing amazing happened at all.

except i did not have to blink back tears. i did not sigh deeply when a thought of him came into my head.

the sun was shining in my world today. i walked with a bit of a kick to my step.

i felt alive.

i wish i could bottle this feeling and then drink from it when the grey skies stick around for days. when my heart is heavy and the lump won't leave from my throat. why can't i do that? why don't i know why today was different? i want to know so i can make every day like this. so i can feel like i am alive, truly alive, every day.

i want this to continue.

this weekend will be a musical extravaganza.
i will see the felice brothers on saturday night with him and two of his closest friends. they are now my friends too. sometimes, when the four of us are hanging out, it just seemed right. everyone meshes together so well. it was just another trick of my mind that it all meant something; i was getting ahead of myself. i hope saturday evening goes well, but not so well that my mind starts buying into its old mistakes. i want to see that something is wrong. that everything isn't as smooth as i thought it was. there have got to be cracks. i need to see the cracks. i need to see that it wasn't going to work. that is what is still hard, when i still don't see why it wouldn't work. when things are still seamless.

but today it didn't matter. i don't know why. today my skies were blue and bright with sunshine. i hope tomorrow is more of the same.

Thanks to Chelle for originally introducing me to this song, and the live version of it, with Michael Stipe. I almost wish I could hear a version with just Michael singing it, his voice has a different level of passion and depth when he sings his parts of the song, which gift the song with stronger feelings, at least to me. It bypasses the adolescent sentiment about new love, and secret passions, and takes it a step further.

I'd say this is a guilty pleasure song, but I try not to feel guilty for things I enjoy. It's just a fucking good song (especially the cover, download it, truly).

i'm writing this entry from my new laptop! it's a fucking beautiful thing. basically, because it's pink! i can now go all around the house and be on the internet. i'm increasing my laziness, i'm sure. i can lay down and be on the internet? hell yes.

hopefully having this laptop will either a) increase my motivation to write or b) increase my motivation to get back in school.

it's going to take a coons age to get all my music on here. so launchcast will do for now :(
