Will Stanton didn't go to Bran's funeral. Some shook their heads over that. Others, like John Rowlands, just smiled whenever someone spoke harshly of Will. "He was here," John would say, simply, and leave it at that. If pressed, he'd add, "Just look at the stone."
It was a pretty simple stone. It said Bran's name, and the year he was born, and the year he died, and told him to rest in peace. And beneath that -- ornate as if it had been carved properly, though no such request had been made -- rex quondam rexque futurus.
