Hana Meishi

  • Jul. 8th, 2009 at 9:49 AM
For those who feel a little more exotic, in Japan they have a similar card similar to our visiting cards, called Hana Meishi 花名刺

These are very small, tall and narrow, perfect as inspiration for the Moo cards maybe? The Maiko use them as part of their work and traditions, and the decorations match the current season!

Traditionally they were made using woodblock print, today you can get the woodblock ones, or some using more modern techniques. There are even Hello Kitty ones!

Like the visiting card they usually feature just the persons name, but these days some people chose to include their phone number or email as well.
Hana meishi examples... )A few places in Japan that sell them...

Perfect for any wa-lolita perhaps!?

Musical Selections on Mixpod

  • Jul. 6th, 2009 at 9:08 PM

Hello everyone! Awhile back I made a post sharing some music I thought you all would enjoy. http://community.livejournal.com/lifestyle_lolis/101840.html#cutid1 Well, I've finally put together a much larger, more evolved version of the same liste on Mixpod, so you can actually hear the songs without having to hunt all over YouTube or iTunes for them. There were a few songs I couldn't find and had to leave out, and a few are misnamed. If you'd like the actualy name of a song, just ask. I hope you enjoy!

By serendipity I ran into this site today!  http://www.victorianscrapworks.com/

They sell Victorian inspired and reproduction paper craft items! Some perfect artwork for hidden name cards, and some brilliant frames and borders for regular cards, or backgrounds!
A few frames... )
I kinda want to try making some cards with supplies from here, I would imagine they would look so special!

Birthday

  • Jul. 5th, 2009 at 4:45 PM
I had my birthday party today, and wanted to share something really special with you guys. My mom used to be a professional cake-maker, and she made my cake. She said to me, "I was thinking to myself, 'what is making Heather happy right now?' Oh, lace/ruffles!" And she made me a lolita cake for my birthday. I thought about posting it to EGL cooking, but it's not a recipe, so I thought you might appreciate it better. The cake was vanilla butter with cream cheese frosting. ^.^

First off I want to share a mirror I found at a yardsale for $1.00.

And now for my calling cards...
Really sorry 'bout the quality of the photo.... I already had an address stamp, so I used that and some other little star, bows, hello kitty stamps.
Top one is the front, and the bottom one is the back.
