Video Games Are All About... Inconsistencies [Jul. 13th, 2009|07:57 pm]

fortninety
Been re-playing some old games as of late, and for whatever reason, been on a Resident Evil kick. Pop-quiz: what's the best RE out there? Resident Evil 4, of course. Second best? Resident Evil 2, most will say. And third? Resident Evil: Code Veronica! Dreamcast version all the way baby.

And speaking of, we have today's featured comic from pockiomi...

Lifemeter Never Looked So Good! [Jul. 8th, 2009|01:08 pm]

soggytoast

Right there is the enhanced, remixed, remastered, hi-def cover for our first Lifemeter comic! Repainted by the super-talented Bannister (who does all of our covers), this new printing can now be yours! This is the same book as before, but we've got a great new printer and this new cover to celebrate! As before, the book is still just $6 in the US and Canada, or $7 worldwide! Order in our store!

For those who have been asking, YES we plan on reprinting the Lifemeter 2 book, but it is a question of when as we are looking into new printing options. Since LM2 is a bigger book than LM1, it takes some extra care to bring into the world. And YES Lifemeter 3 is on the way! We'll post our cover and some previews in the not-too-distant future! Stay tuned...

Scribblenauts Will Let You Do Anything... ANYTHING [Jun. 19th, 2009|12:52 pm]

fortninety
I can't believe I forgot to pass this along before; time for one final E3 related mention. The one game that came out of completely nowhere for many, and which ending up being the game of the show for many was Scribblenauts. What's that you might be asking? Well...

It's this game for the DS, by the same folks who gave us Drawn To Life, in which you have to help your character reach the end of a level by writing down the names of objects that will help him reach the goal. The crazy thing is, virtually anything you can think of can be conjured up!

Hence we have the inspiration for this, by Edison Yan...

Why Aren't More People Talking About The Upcoming Wii Port Of Cave Story? Huh? [Jun. 17th, 2009|06:37 pm]

fortninety
Hey there. Sorry about the lack of updates as of late. All I can say is... it's been totally nuts on everyone's end.

So where did we leave off last time? Oh yes, E3! Which I guess is yesterday's news (and then some), yet plenty of folks are still talking about all the cool stuff that was announced and coming our way. Needless to say, I'm pretty jazzed about Metal Gear finally landing on the Xbox 360, though it was Nintendo had the best overall showing IMHO. Can't wait for those two new Mario titles and the brand new installment of Metroid from the makers of Ninja Gaiden! Though one title I was looking forward to hearing about the most was somewhat quietly ignored. I know it was a packed show and all, plus people care more about Mario at the end of the day, but still... It is after-all destined to be THE game of this summer. I'm talking about the Wii port of Cave Story of course! Just look around, and check out the trailer they had at the show. Simply cannot wait.

And speaking of Cave Story, here's an awesome piece from a Japanese artist who simply goes by "Zanpan" over at Pixiv called "Bloody Sacred Ground"...

Metal Gear? [May. 29th, 2009|01:32 pm]

fortninety
So E3 is just a few days around, and I'm sure many of us will be huddled around our computers, constantly refreshing our favorite game related news site, blog, or message board for much of next week.

There's tons of stuff to speculate about, and one of them is the new Metal Gear title that's coming down the pipeline! What it might be exactly remains a mystery (I'm still holding out for a possible Xbox 360 port of MGS4), though not for long, obviously. Some believe it might be a next-gen remake of the very first game, which would be nice, since any Metal Gear fan will tell you that half the fun of the series is the many different flavors of the main protagonist.

Which brings us to this fantastic look at the heroes of the MGS saga (thus far) by Andy Helms!

Happy Birthday Dave, Raina, and Opa-Opa! [May. 26th, 2009|02:50 am]

fortninety
Guess what today is? Why, it's both our very own [info]yaytime's and his totally awesome wife [info]goraina's birthdays! What a coincidence, huh? To mark the occasion, I'm going to bend the guidelines here at Life Meter for a tad bit, to present a fun little comic by Jonathan Kim, aka the artist who calls himself Persona! Since it features a both a birthday and Sega characters, the latter of which Dave is a big fan of...

Devil Summoner [May. 24th, 2009|11:26 pm]

fortninety
So it's Memorial Day Weekend! How's everyone spending the their mini-vacation? The sun's been out and the weather's been totally awesome in most places (NYC hasn't had nice weather like this in some time now). But now I hear rain is on the way, which means I'll be staying in and catching up on stuff, like...

Along with aforementioned Punch-Out, Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon also came out not too long now. Now that game I do have, being a diehard Atlus nut and all. So to mark the occasion, here's a really keen piece of Raidou fan art, from some person in Japan!

I'm afraid I have absolutely no hard information behind the identity of this person, other than how he/she refers to him/herself as "Aramakijyake". His or her website is chock full of good stuff, including some really neat pieces paying tribute to a host of stuff, including King Of Fighters, Phoenix Wright, Ikaruga, even Haunting Ground! Talk about obscure. Along with a slew of other Atlus titles, including Persona of course (be sure to be on the luck out for the P4/IGN guys on the couch mash-up).
