Deano's blog from Pakistan
Deano's written another hilarious blog entry - so if you want to read more on the adventures of the Barnsley Gladiators then get on over to www.deanandrews.co.uk and click the link to the blog.

It really is a good read. Had me in stitches.

A little OT..But Deano related...
Dean's arrived safe and sound in Islamabad (He's just about to start filming for a movie based in Khandahar, but they're shooting it in Pakistan), and has sent back his first blog. Head on over to his website, or follow this direct link to read it:

Please leave a comment, so he has some messages from home next time he gets a chance to log on!

Locksmith icons
[info]qthewetsprocket did a picspam of John Simm in the rather rubbish show "The Locksmith". Throughout the episode he's in, he's mostly sweating and wriggling on the floor, hands cuffed behind his back. He also gets gagged several times. Of course, I had to do some icons of it, even if I never actually do make icons (the reason for that will become obvious). Sorry about the quality, but the only copy of the show that exists on internet is rather rubbish, which makes doing proper screencaps and icons hard.

Ralph Brown on Radio 4
Fairly off-topic, since he didn't mention Life on Mars, but fans of Frank Morgan Danny Ralph Brown may like to know he took part in a Radio Four programme called The Reunion today, discussing Withnail and I with Bruce Robinson, Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann in front of an audience of fans - for once, I didn't mind laughter on the soundtrack, because it was a real audience of real fans laughing just where I did (especially when Sue MacGregor asked McGann how he got the part). I really enjoyed the programme, and you can hear it via Listen Again at that webpage.

LoM up for BAFTA

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, so apologies if I'm duplicating... Life on Mars has been nominated for Best Drama Series. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7302169.stm

Only one this year, but Cranford has also been nominated several times over, including Audience Choice and Best Drama Serial. Well done to everyone involved in both shows!

ETA: The full list of nominations is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7302291.stm

Masterpiece Classic (Formerly Theatre)
Just saw this on the website:
Anderson will present the ten programs in the first Masterpiece classic season, including adaptations of all six of Austen's novels plus a new biopic; Cranford, a three-part miniseries starring Judi Dench; My Boy Jack, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Kim Cattrall; and a new adaptation of A Room with a View by Andrew Davies.

Clocking Off

Just in case you haven't seen it this is for people in the UK who have access to the channel ITV3. Clocking Off seems to be being repeated as it has appeared on the schedule. It starts with the episode that features both John and Phil. These are the details:

Date: Tuesday 29th January
Time: 21.00-22.00
Channel: ITV3

Link to Radio Times web site

I assume the rest of the episode will be shown at the same time each following week.

Liz White on BBC1 tonight at 9pm
For those Annie fans in the UK, Liz White will be appearing in the BBC's "Fairy Tales" series tonight at 9pm on BBC1. It's a new take on the emperor's new clothes, "The Empress's New Clothes." Liz plays "Shannon," the woman who helps the Empress, a soap star, with her new clothes.

If you ever wanted to see Annie without the her awesome 70s 'do, this looks like the time and place!

The Big Question...
Mods - hope this is okay...

I've got a question for everyone.

Deano's said he'd happily do a Q&A over on his blog... he'd answer questions on Ashes, LoM, Navvies, The Street - anything about any show he's been in that you'd like to ask him!

BUT he doesn't think anyone would be interested...

So, would anyone? XD He couldn't guarantee to answer all the questions, but we'd work out a way for people to submit them, and then he'd either work through them, or answer them in a big bunch. It'll be something to do whilst he's not writing updates on filming.

This isn't a request for questions, it's more a show of hands to see if any of you guys would be up for asking some questions.

Thanks in advance!

xx

State of Play
Any Germans round here? arte is showing the first two episodes of "State of Play" tonight at 10.30pm and 11.20pm respectively. Interestingly enough, Philip Glenister is the only one whose character's name is listed in the credits. Even the arte people have realised that DCI Bell is the best one of them all.

Hello! ;D (And.. stuff)
Hello, long time lurker speaking.

I actually wanted to wait with my first post until I produced some fanfic myself, but since it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon I threw that plan over board and just decided to finally say 'Hi'.
So, erm, hi it is then I guess.
Like I said, I've been following the community and reading the fanfic for quite a while now and I've got to say that all of it seems very lovely. :)

So, now I've got two things left that I'd like to share with you:

A lovely picture of the creepy Testcard Girl my friend drew for me.

And I took some Screencaps of Phil and John (but so far its mostly Phil) in other roles.

erm, enjoy! ;D

Hornblower: Retribution clip

Here's a clip from Hornblower: Retribution with Philip Glenister. I rented this from Amazon and tried to watch it but the whole mutiny-on-the-bounty genre tends to have a soporific (adj. tending to cause sleep (bore the tits off)) effect on me. So I ended up fast forwarding through most of it. I'm certainly not saying it wasn't well-made and a quality drama, I recommend it if the genre appeals.

I don't exactly know what's going on here (on account of the ffwd'ing) but I enjoyed this scene, it was all nice and intense so I snipped it out of the disc before I sent it back.

in other roles: PG and JS in State of Play
Looking for something with both John Simm and Philip Glenister, now that Life on Mars is *sob* over? I've put up a pimpin' post (with only minor spoilers) for the BBC mini-series State of Play here. John Simm plays Cal McCaffrey, a reporter. Philip Glenister plays (surprise!) a cop. But a 21st century, politically correct cop!

They have a few scenes together, with some great interactions and dialogue.

Cal (John Simm): If the reason you’re keeping me here is to stop me doing a better job than you can, then I would be seriously embarrassed about that, you know? I’d want to lead, not follow.

Cal: I’m here because I want him caught, like you do. So why don’t you get your press people to publicise this arrest and then we can all get on with the story.
DCI William Bell (Philip Glenister): It’s a case, not a story.
