Hi again, and a very Merry Christmas! I've just received my first online Merry Christmas (♥ thank you andres00!♥), and by my calculations it's now Christmas Day in a number of places, including Australia and South Korea, so here we go again with the Life on Mars Christmas-tide Unofficial Drabble Challenge.

This week you can either go with the nice and simple Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, or perhaps you'd prefer to tackle one of the common seasonal clichés:

"Christmas is for the kids really."

"It's got too commercialised."

"Christmas is for family."

"It's the loneliest day of the year."

Just watched the series finale for approximately the eighth time, and I'm hankering after any fic that deals with the Tyler/Williams plotline. Because that was one thread that came totally out of left-field, raised about a hundred fascinating questions, and then just- sort of died away. Doesn't matter whether the author addresses it through the medium of twisty-turny, sci-fi time-travel, or through a more psychological approach- or, indeed, both. I'm not fussed.  Vermin Disciple put an excellent spin on it in 'Convergence' - http://vermin-disciple.livejournal.com/99926.html- but I would love to see what other writers have done with the idea- even if it just makes my brain hurt.
So- multiple personalities, multiple timelines, multiple interpretations. Let's see 'em.

Mark Juddery, a columnist for the Canberra Times has compiled a list of his Top Ten TV characters of the decade. Guess who comes in at number one? That's right:

1. Gene Hunt (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes) The corrupt, abrasive DCI is the coolest crime fighter of the decade. Obnoxious, for sure, but he was written with wit and charm, and played with astounding flair by Philip Glenister. Oh, and whatever his methods, he was always a good guy. Harvey Keitel played him reasonably well in the US version, but even he couldn't compete with Glenister for sheer prescence.

I am not sure why I chose this place to ask, other than it's like a second home to me. I spend a copious amount of time here and I completely adore the writers in this fandom. Actually, I think that's why I chose to make my request here. At any rate, despite me being a hardcore Sam/Gene shipper and not usually open to crossover fics at all, I recently gave in to reading a Sam/Doctor fic which left me desperate for more from this rather unorthodox pairing. The problem with this is, I've looked but it's scarce at best so I was wondering if any of the writers here would have the time and be willing to write me something with this pairing. I would be eternally grateful if anyone could do this for me. Thank you very much.


PS: I prefer something in Brown but any Cortina would be welcome.

Hi, I'm a Brit who has been lurking here for literally YEARS
I've been meaning to emerge for ages, not sure exactly why now but hey, here I am.
Don't expect big things from me - I am way too in awe of some of the amazing writing and authors here.
Truly, I have to say its down to you guys that the amazing, poignant, crazy, funny, beautiful world that is LOM is kept alive for me. Its only when I go back to watch my boxsets that I realise there were actually only 16 episodes screened, because the vast majority of the writing here is cannon in my book.

If I'm feeling brave I might manage one of the Friday Drabble challenges?
However, as a Brit with true Manc roots and a child of the seventies I'd love to help out with lingo, retro references, brit-picking etc.
