Another day, another weird phone call. Don't you just love them all?

Caller: Hello, I'd like to know how many books there are in the Kabalah.
Me: There is no certain amount.
Caller: Are you sure? I just want to know.
Me: Yes. Everyone has their own interpretation of it and some people write different length books or multiple volumes depending on what they're looking at.
Caller: But I was told that there was a certain number of books.
Me: The Kabalah is not like Shakespeare. There's a certain amount of plays by Shakespeare and no more or no less.
Caller: Is there someone else I can talk to?
Me: Yes, I'll give you the reference librarian.

Now if she had asked me how many books there are in the Zohar which the Kabalah is based on, that would have been a different story all together. There's five.

There is this patron that comes in to the library every once in a while with a teen who obviously has some sort of disability.  I believe the patron that comes in with him is his social worker.  Anyway...on one occasion he asked me if he could use a children's pc for his client.  I asked my boss and she said ok.  So we set him on the children's pc.  After 20mins or so we saw the social worker on Youtube and typing some sort of paper or resume.  All the while this poor kid is sitting there staring blankly into space rocking and smiling.  

My boss went over to him and asked him why was he using it instead of the kid.  All he said was that he needed to use it for a min.  YEAH RIGHT!!!

He left the library and I went on my lunch.  I saw him leave the pizza shop with a pizza eating it like nothing in front of the kid and pulling him along.  He did not buy not even a soda for the kid.  God that just pissed me off!!!

You know...he came to the library 5 days later and asked again if he could use the children's pc for this kid and I said to him no.  That was just a one time thing.  My boss agreed with me in not allowing him access to the children's pc.

This parent came in and approached me and said that he does not want his child reading Goosebumps Bump books.  He said that he wanted me to deny his child from checking out those "scary books", they are not appropriate for him.  I explained to him that I cannot deny a child to read anything that he/she wishes.  Also I have no control over what he/she wants to check out.  

He also asked me, "Did my son help you shelve books?"  I said to him no...I was working on some new books and he and 4 other children were interested in them and wanted to take them to the tables.  Any other book that they did not want they could leave on the tables or put them back on the shelves, since all of them knew where they belonged.  He said to me in front of his son, "Then he is a liar.  You are a liar." (looking at his son)  I said to him no, he is not a liar, he's not lying.  He just wanted to be helpful.  I explained again to the father that the children were taking what they wanted and leaving behind what they didnt want.

This conversation was in Spanish.

What gets me pissed is damn....dont deny a child to read what he wants!!  Yes he has to read certain materials for school but let him read something that will relax his mind, he needs that.  I felt so bad for him...he looked very upset that he couldnt read books that his friends were reading.

F**K let the child have some enjoyment!!!!

After this conversation I had to step away a cool off.  I thought my head was going to blow up.  This man really pissed me off......

This is to all who have said that I use big fonts and its bothersome.....

I will try not to use them...I just use them because I am uspet at the moment....sorry if they were annoying or difficult
to read.  

Some have asked me nicely to change them........to those thank you......
