Title: Start and Tremble
Author: [info]dollsome
Pairing: Felicity/Pippa
Spoilers: post-A Great & Terrible Beauty; could fit in pretty much anywhere in Rebel Angels or The Sweet Far Thing
Word Count: 2,564
Rating: PG-13
Summary: My dust would hear her and beat, had I lain for a century dead. Felicity ponders many things, but mostly Pippa.

It’s much easier to fit into the tent of scarves when there are just three. Felicity doesn’t like it at all, this extra space; to make up for it, she lies down and stretches out, hates and loves the hard floor against the bumps of her spine.

Hi everyone. *waves* I'm new here. I just found out about this community, and since I adore the Gemma Trilogy more than any other series, I had to join. I've created a community for Gemma Doyle Trilogy claims, as well as fanart, fanfiction, mixes, etc. (I'm hoping it's okay to post this here.) It is a new community, but I would love for other fans of the book to come and makes claims on their character of choice. (All characters are open for claiming, as I just set up the list)

The community is [info]missdoyle . It is members only, but everyone is welcome to join, and make a claim! :)
Claim a character here !

I made a playlist for A Great and Terrible Beauty, and recently made it available for download.  These are the songs that I think of when I read AGATB, and the songs that make me think of AGATB anytime I hear them.

Enjoy! :)

How did you discover Libba Bray's work? I was googleing Historical Fiction for YA readers and I found her novels; I frist loved the book covers and next I was looking for the books all over Ciaro.

What appeals to you about her writing? The fact that she writes about the Victorian Era, her characters and the developing of events. evry scene and line is for a resone; nothing randomness.

I've spook with Libba alot; she is on of my lovely friends over FaceBook and so soon I will interview her. wish me luck.

Any other books you'd recommend?  I am in love with books and as they are too many I am so blank to write all of them but

-L.J.Smith Novels.
-Ghost Girl by Tonya Hurly
-Vactions from Hell.
-Prom Nights from Hell.
-P.C.Cast novels.
-The Luxe series.
-Vamps.
-Once Dead; Twice Shy by Kim Harrison.

My friend's mother is an artist and she sometimes draws for book covers. She was lucky enough to meet Libba Bray and Libba told her that the woman on the cover of her books has a huge dragon tattoo on her back that they had to edit out of the pictures. :) I thought it was a neat fact.

*Waves hello*

Age/Sex/Location? 18/Female/Australia

How did you discover Libba Bray's work? Um, I was pretty much just trying to find something really good to read, and I seen a couple of recommendations for it online, so I thought "Why not?". Once I started the first book, it was extremely hard to stop, and it became instantly my favourite series.

What appeals to you about her writing? Well, what wouldn't? However, for the purpose of thi exercise, i'd have to stay her fantastic characters, they are so real, not perfect or your average day heroes, they are just like everyone else, a little damaged, they have secrets, and they are most certainly not perfect, and who wants plastic Barbie characters all the time anyway... Also of course her wicked sense of humour, so scarily close to mine...

Any other books you'd recommend? Ok, so I could just list all the books I like most, but most of them have already been said, so I'm going to tell you what I have lined up for myself to read, only what I've been hanging out for though, as well as my own recommendations, and if you guys want to give your opinion on the ones Ihaven't read yet, by all means please do. So anyway they are; The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong, Modern Tale of Faerie series by Holly Black, Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong, both of Laura Whitcomb's books, and any Scott Westerfeld books. For books I have actually read and loved, I would say Harry Potter (duh), The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare, Anything by Melina Marchetta (for us from Oz), The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, and Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr.

*Waves goodbye*

Just joined here, and absolutely crazy about the Gemma series. :)

Age/Sex/Location:  17/Female/Florida

How did you discover Libba Bray's work?:  I had been looking for a good book set in Victorian England a few months back, and so I went on a Young Adult Literature community on here, and a lot of people recommended A Great & Terrible Beauty. I didn't know anything about it, but went ahead and bought it. Read the entire series soon after that. :)

What appeals to you about her writing?:  She's f'ing brilliant. I've never been so emotionally involved a book as much as I have with hers. I, quite honestly, wanted to slap a few fictional characters throughout the course of the series. She keeps you wanting more and more, and when you've read the whole series it's a quite depressing realization that there are no more left. She keeps you guessing. I never would have guessed half the stuff that ended up happening in the 2nd and 3rd books. And she writes the characters in a way that makes you feel a closeness to at least one of the characters and the situation they are in. She's honestly become my favorite author now, which is amazing since I've never had a favorite before.

Any other books you'd recommend?:  I really can't recommend anything young adult. I rarely read young adult books. Also, I've never read anything like these books. But if I may suggest any, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe, Tripping: An Anthology of True-Life Psychedelic Adventures by Charles Hayes - they're amazing. That is, amazing if you love LSD, altered states of consciousness, etc. Which is fitting of the whole "realms" thing. :D :D

A friend of mine (let's call her Octopus) & I basically read the Gemma Doyle Trilogy together. I found out about them a while back and bought them in English, and then as I was finishing them I found them in Spanish and handed them to my friend.

We were both instantly hooked and in love with the saga, and needless to say it has become one of our 'special things'. She really is the Gemma to my Fee, and for her birthday I decided to give her a special gift.

A guy a friend knew worked with silver and had already done a few pendants with the Psychology symbol for university students in my class, so I went up to him and asked him to do the same when it came to this gift. I presented him with the image of Gemma's pendant that appears in the Spanish version of the book's cover and waited with glee.

Cut for pictures! )

What do you think? :)
