Hello. Off the top o' me head, utterly at random from the subconscious, fav. movies: The Shining (been playing the dvd, not to watch the movie, but to listen to it the way one plays a music cd), Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, The Day the Earth Stood Still, It Came From Outer Space, Island of the Damned (saw this at the drive in theatre at around age 11, I think, and thanks to the internet, managed to find it again!), Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (saw it at drive in theater as a kid, nostalgia, sue me), Clash of the Titans (sue me again), 2001 A Space Odyssey (never puts me to sleep), Doctor Strangelove, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (56 and 78 versions), Frankenstein (Karloff), Dracula (1931), Alien, Close Encounters, Jaws, This is Spinal Tap, The Three Kings, Outland (flawed, but atmospheric and good acting and nice Jerry Goldsmith music), Legend (Jerry Goldsmith version), Monty Python's (insert all titles here), Star Trek The Motion Picture, Star Trek First Contact, Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars (the first half that takes place on Tatooine all the way up until the Falcon is trapped on the deathstar), Time Bandits, The Lathe of Heaven (this was on pbs when I was a preteen and it was a freaky experience then, but when I saw it at an older age it wasn't the same), The Exorcist, Phantasm, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead('70s version), Repo Man, A Cry In The Dark, Blue Velvet, Tombstone, Blade Runner, Cracking up ('77), Silence of the Lambs... Movies that are offensive to one celled organisms: Anything remotely connected with Joss Whedon, Anything with Dane Cook in it with the possible exception of "Waiting" which had moments, anything with Robin Williams in it with the possible exception of, "Good Will Hunting". Anything directed by James Cameron with the possible exception of "The Terminator" and it's impossible to remember what an efficient, unselfconscious film it was thanks to everything that has come after, Anything with Cameron Diaz in it, although I read the script for "There's Something about Mary" before seeing the movie and what I imagined the movie looking like was a million times better than the actual movie which had no one in it that looked the way I imagined them to look, Anything with Reese Witheringspoon in it, Anything with Sarah Michele Gellar in it, Anything with Jimmy Falon in it... |
