May 13, 2008 - Entertainment Weekly/Vavoom Upfront Party

Sometimes, friends suggest going out, then they ask, "Aren't you worried people are going to notice you?" I tell them that I just can't live my life like that; I can't live my life wondering if people are going to be saying things about me or taking pictures.

Who the Emmy's overlooked.

Finally, and I fear no one seeing my point on this one, but Leighton Meester's Blair Woldorf on Gossip Girl. Other than the clothes, there's only one reason I watch this show week in and week out and that's Blair. I think she's one of the best characters on TV, honestly. And Leighton captures her pretty damn brilliantly. I know it's the CW. I know it's GOSSIP GIRL for crying out loud, but she's good. And, again, if "Two and a Half Men" can be seen as quality television, everything should be considered.

July 19, 2007 - Launch Party For Mosci Boutique (Yes, that's Blair and Poppy.)

When will you consider yourself a celebrity?
I don’t really know if that’s necessarily what I want or what I’m seeking. I just want to make the show. On a more serious note, I think that there are good and bad things to be said about never being able to go anywhere on your own. I’m so used to being able to do that, so I hope it doesn’t get to that point. But, if that’s what it means for the show to do well, then that’s okay.

That answer makes me sad and proud of her at the same time. She's handled the bullshit SO well... more than most people her age and in general.

It's been a while since I overkill your friends list with "Good Girls Go Bad" but this time there's real news! It's in the top five on iTunes! LET'S MAKE IT NO.1 FOR OUR GIRL (AND CS, TOO, COS THEY'RE AWESOME PEEPS) They're also on Billboard's Top 40! Don't forget to request your local, annoying radio station.

  • Clinton Sparks and Leighton are going to collaborate again for an MTV movie. [Tweet]

  • I don't know how effective this would be, but it doesn't hurt to try: @MTV asks who'd we like to see do a collaboration performance at the VMAs. Reply to the tweet with Cobra Starship & Leighton, of course!

If we had an Emmy Ballot...Best Actress, Drama: Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl

The biggest goof of the 2009 Emmy nominating process—besides the fact that Terry O’Quinn didn’t submit himself for Lost—is that the cast of Gossip Girl is competing in the drama categories. Right, because when we think of Gossip Girl, we think of serious business; surely an actor the caliber of Chace Crawford will have no problem scoring a Best Actor nod opposite someone like Hugh Laurie. Still, if there is one person who could believably pull off an upset, it might be Leighton Meester. The actress is tenacity unhinged as Blair Waldorf and continues to be the best part of the show week in and week out. We’d like to see Glenn Close pull off calling someone a “MotherChucker,” with such aplomb.

Front-runners deserve them, but so many others do, too
    BY PAIGE WISER Television Critic

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

There are many deserving women in this category, and I was happy to see Glenn Close win last year for "Damages." But this time around I am willing to throw my support to wild card Leighton Meester in "Gossip Girl." Maybe because she's survived so much drama in her real life: She was born during her mother's prison term for drug charges, and in 2003 her older brother was involved in an Air Force Academy sex scandal.

Of course, it's nothing compared to what her character, Blair Waldorf, has been through in the last season: an English lord who cheated on her with his stepmother; the waiting list for Yale; a one-night stand with true love Chuck's uncle (whoops). As "GG's" writers struggled mightily to keep Blair and Chuck apart as long as possible, Meester made it believable.

Bear in mind that she managed it all in confining preppie chic and undisturbed lip gloss. Wait until she sinks her teeth into something really juicy.

Long shot, but yay for Leighton getting recognition! (Kinda disagree on Leighton's real life drama not matching her fictional counterpart though... lol)

I was asked out once or twice, but I was such a late bloomer. I definitely got to know myself a lot better later, even just in the past few years. You think that you’re so grown up, when you’re 15 or 16, and then you get to be 21 and you’re like, “Well, now I feel more like a woman.” But, even still, not so much. I don’t know how much I still have to grow.

Thursday evening, The Cinema Society gave New Yorkers a break from the current spate of explosive blockbusters hosting a screening, sponsored by Brooks Brothers and Cotton Incorporated, of the quirky romantic comedy "500 Days of Summer." The film follows the bittersweet courtship of Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Summer (Zooey Deschanel) through its various crests and falls, complete with a poppy soundtrack. And though Deschanel was a last minute no-show (she had to fly to Ireland for a part), she addressed the crowd‹including Jason Wu, Hilary Rhoda, Bebe Neuwirth, Miranda Kerr and Lorenzo Martone‹at the Tribeca Grand's screening room in a short video.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't be there... but I love this film and thank you all for coming," said Deschanel.

Despite the movie narrator's early declaration "This is not a love story," guests at the after-party in the Soho Grand's Yard couldn't help but muse about any summer dalliances of their own (the seasonal variety, that is).

"I don't think I've ever had a fling, summer or winter," said Mad Men's Christina Hendricks. "I've always had a boyfriend."

"[I have one] every summer," Leighton Meester smiled mischievously.
    "I wish," sighed Rachel Roy.

    75 days to go.
