The actress was in Dallas last week for All-Con.

She wasn't announced before the con, though I wish she had been. I debatin' on gettin' a personalized autograph from her, in addition to the one I got for the Austin Pan-Geeks first anniversary. In the end, I decided to get one, but her selection was limited to the classic Battlestar Galactica series, and maybe a couple from Buck Rogers.

After I got home from Dallas, I looked her up on IMDB.com, and saw that she was in an episode of Quantum Leap, 'Star Light, Star Bright'. She played Eva Stoddard. Been awhile since I watched the episode, but I'm guessin' she was the daughter-in-law of the old guy Sam leaped into...right?

Anyway, just thought I'd brag a bit, since I won't be at Leap Back in a couple of weeks, I still managed to get a QL-related sig this month.

Pictures comin' up, soon.

Oh, and I made a new icon, just to post about Quantum Leap stuff!

'Chuck' exclusive: Scott Bakula spies pivotal role
http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu859j3FJo84A8TBXNyoA

Major casting news just in from TV's best comedy: Scott Bakula is Chuck's dad!

Chuck boss Josh Schwartz confirms to me exclusively that Bakula has inked a deal to play the estranged father of Zachary Levi's title character in at least three episodes.

"Chuck made a promise to his sister, Ellie [Sarah Lancaster], that he was going to find their dad in time for her wedding," Schwartz explains. "And it's something that Chuck becomes consumed with pursuing during the second half of the season.

"But when he finds him, he's not necessarily a guy who wants to be found," Schwartz continues. "He's living in a trailer, he's disheveled, he's paranoid and he's claiming constantly that Ted Roark [Chevy Chase] -- who he used to work with -- stole all his ideas from him. And Ted Roark has now become this super-successful software billionaire, and Chuck's dad has become an eccentric, living in the shadows."

Look for Bakula's arc to kick off in April.

YAY!!!

Love Scott Bakula. Love Chuck. And maybe Chevy Chase will be entertainin' again, too!

Teri Hatcher? [Dec. 5th, 2008|09:06 pm]

[Current Music |The Shield Season Four on DVD]

Listenin' to the radio this mornin' on the way home from work, and I heard Teri Hatcher callin' in to the JB & Sandy Show (Mix 94.7). The past couple of weeks, the mornin' show has been runnin' a "Who do You Know?" contest. Local listeners get famous folks to call in to the show for a ten to fifteen minute interview. Biggest name gets $10,000 for their charity, and the person who knows 'em gets $10,000.

And durin' Teri Hatcher's interview, she said that her charity of choice is Starlight, Starbright.

Any chance y'all could get her for the 20th anniversary convention?

LA-area Leapers [Oct. 10th, 2008|07:50 pm]

Anyone planning to attend the costume ball on Saturday night as Al?

Because if so, I found THE perfect place to shop. It's called Iguana Vintage Clothing. I was there the other day looking for something else, and just happened to notice a red fedora almost *exactly* like Al's, suit jackets and pants in a wide variety of colors (even a few metallic shades) and some pretty wild ties including a dead ringer for the skinny, leopard-print one Al wore with the black letter shirt.

The store has two locations:

6320 Hollywood Blvd
Hollywood, 90028

and

14422 Ventura Blvd
Sherman Oaks, 91403

They also have a website at www.iguanaclothing.com, but the site is still under construction and none of the clothes are actually on it yet (all links except the front page are dead). I visited the Sherman Oaks location, so I don't know how the selection is at the Hollywood store. But the Sherman Oaks one is HUGE.

Anyway, thought I ought to share my find! :-)

Request for Charity Auction Items [Sep. 30th, 2008|11:23 pm]

beckettslady
[Tags|, , , , , , , , ]
[Current Mood | excited]

It's time to clean out that drawer or that closet or that carton. Not for old clothes nor worn out shoes but for treasures that will make a "Quantum Leap", Scott Bakula or Dean Stockwell fan drool with delight. Plus, in doing so, you'll also help make a hospitalized child's life a little better!!

We are now gratefully accepting donated items for the Charity Auction and raffle drawings to be held during Leap Back 2009, the 20th Anniversary Quantum Leap Convention taking place next March 27-29th (
www.leapback2009.com). Our beneficiary, of course, is the wonderful Starlight Children's Foundation (www.starlight.org).

We are looking for any/all items and memorabilia related to the classic TV show or to either of its stars, Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, even if it's not QL related. Suggested items include but are not limited to photos, magazines, books, posters, props, clothing, playbills, newspaper articles, DVDs, CDs, artwork and memorabilia of any kind*.

We're also planning to have either or both of our stars personally autograph some of the items before they're auctioned off.

As a 'thank you', the names of all those who so generously donate items will be listed in the convention brochure as a permanent keepsake.

This event is destined to be a huge success, both for the charity and for the fans in attendance. We hope you will open your hearts and your stashes and donate some goodies. We also hope you're planning to join us next March when you'll have the opportunity to also open your wallets and do some bidding**! Tickets for this event and all its festivities are still available for purchase at the website
www.leapback2009.com

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email them to helene@leapback2009.com or carol@leapback2009.com.

SHIPPING:
All donations (except oversized and/or heavy items like books, sets of DVDs/CDs) shipped before January 1st, should be sent to:
H Kaplan
PO Box 9232
Bardona, NY 10954

All oversized and/or heavy items such as books, DVDs and CDs and anything shipped AFTER January 1st should be sent to:
Carol Cartwright
526 E. Cypress Ave.
Glendora, CA 91741

If you have a mixed shipment or are unclear in any way as to where to ship your items, please email for instructions.

Deadline for all shipments is on or about February 1st.

If possible, please include your email address with the donations so that you can be notified when the shipment has arrived. In addition, please let us know the exact name you would like printed in the brochure. Feel free to also include any additional applicable information about the item you are donating, such as date and place, photographer's name, show title, etc.

HOW THE AUCTION WORKS:

The convention committee is planning to take all the items so generously donated and group them into separate auction lots. Each numbered lot will have one or more items included in it. We plan on having some lots include one item personally autographed by Scott Bakula and/or Dean Stockwell or another of our great guest stars. A printed, descriptive list of all the numbered lots will be available at the convention itself and all items will be on view to be seen 'up close and personal'. Available viewing times of the items will be announced at the convention.

Every convention attendee will be asked to fill out a simple bidder form and, in return, they will receive a keepsake bidder 'paddle' with their convention number on it. During the actual auction proceedings, they can raise the paddle in the air if they wish to bid on a particular lot. There may well be a back and forth of bids, but in the end, the highest monetary bid will win the lot. You can be sure that our auctioneer will make it all both easy to follow and fun and the paddle will be yours to keep regardless of your participation in the bidding.

The auction itself is generally a must-see event. Even if you don't plan on bidding, the shenanigans are often quite entertaining. Plus since EVERY LOT MUST 'GO'; we expect that there will be all price ranges and that some will undoubtedly be sold at remarkably low prices! . Payment** and pickup of items will follow immediately at the conclusion of the auction itself. With the proceeds going to the Starlight Children's Foundation, everyone is a winner!

In addition, there will also be a variety of donated and purchased items that will be reserved as raffle prizes. These special items will also be on view during the convention. Everyone attending the convention will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the drawings to be held during the convention itself. This will also allow an opportunity for those that may not wish to participate in the auction itself to have a chance at winning a keepsake for the price of a raffle ticket.

One way or another, everyone will have the chance to go home with wonderful collectible/keepsake items related to Quantum Leap, Scott Bakula and/or Dean Stockwell and you can make all that possible with your donations. Nothing is too small or inconsequential to donate. Even duplicate items are fine.

Many thanks, in advance, for your generosity!
The Charity Auction Committee, Leapback 2009

*Please be advised that we cannot accept items that include unauthorized copies of copyrighted material.

**You can pay for winning auction lots by cash, credit card or traveler's cheques ONLY (no personal checks). Be prepared so you won't be disappointed!

Trivia Contest [Sep. 29th, 2008|10:23 pm]

[Tags|, , , , , , ]
[Current Mood | curious]

Calling all "Quantum Leap" aficionados!

Whether you like to stump others with your awesome knowledge of everything "Quantum Leap" or prefer to let others try to stump you, start putting on your thinking caps!

The Leap Back 2009, The 20th Anniversary Quantum Leap Convention will be hosting TWO trivia contests during its three days of festivities:

The first is a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME Quantum Leap Quiz LIVE AND IN-PERSON* between series star SCOTT BAKULA and his inimitable publicist, JAY D. SCHWARTZ.

In addition, there are now plans afoot to host a fan-based trivia contest that promises to be not for the faint-of-heart!

So....we're asking YOU to send us the trivia questions you'd like to see asked at these exciting events. We can't guarantee that all questions will get used nor in which of the two contests they may appear (much less whether they'll be worded exactly the same way as submitted) but we are seeking questions at all levels of difficulty. There is no limit to how many you can send nor do they all have to be sent in at the same time.

In gratitude for your help, the names of those ticket holders who've submitted questions will be listed in our convention brochure as a permanent keepsake. If you are not attending the convention, your name will not be listed but we hope that doesn't deter you from coming up with some wonderful trivia.

Please email any/all Quantum Leap trivia questions to
helene@leapback2009.com by February 1st and yes, BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE ANSWERS AND THE EPISODE from which it/they came. If at all possible, it would also be helpful to have a time code from either the DVD or VHS so our researchers can more easily verify them. Be sure to also let us know the exact name you would like listed in the convention brochure.

The Leap Back 2009, The 20th Anniversary Quantum Leap Convention is being held March 27-29th, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. Tickets for the convention and all its festivities and events are still available for purchase at the website
www.leapback2009.com.

Information regarding participation in the fan-based contest will be available closer to convention time, so keep your eyes peeled for further announcements.

We look forwarding to hearing from you!

The Quantum Leap Trivia Committee

The Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget [Aug. 21st, 2008|04:51 am]

Y'all see this on cable the other night?

In the beginnin', there were clips, a highlight reel sort of thing, of Bob Saget's career, includin' a shot of him as "Bob the Comic" from Bosom Buddies, but nothin' from his guest starrin' role as "Mack" Quantum Leap 'Stand Up'.

At first, I was peeved.

But then, at seein' how unfunny the whole event was from beginnin' to end, I was kind of relieved that the only connection to Quantum Leap was the occasional shot of Scott Bakula in the crowd.
