About
Welcome to Le Week-End!

This community was inspired by a most delightful book, The Week-End Book, which was originally published in 1924. The contents of this book range from where and when to find flowers to how to treat a venomous snake bite. All written in poetically calculated British English, this is a companion no one should be without.

The point of this community is to inspire, to spark, to infuse. Once a week, I, Whitney Leigh [your lowly moderator] will post an excerpt from The Weekend Book. Your job as a member is to take the information presented and react to it in any way--draw a picture, take a photograph, recall a memory, give advice, knit a sweater, share an experience. Do anything you please, as long as it has been inspired by the original post.

For example, if I were to post information about how to identify the planets, you might then post a picture of a paper galaxy you made for the science fair in fifth grade, or post a link to an article about a newly discovered planet, or post a poem you wrote about Saturn or even post a question that another member might be able to answer about why Mars is so red.

"Swans sing before they die--'twere no bad thing
Should certain persons die before they sing."

- S.T. Coleridge -

Here is your chance to sing.
