Hi everyone!

This is just a notice from your moderators that the community will be going on a temporary hiatus as we work to prepare for the next round, hopefully some time in the beginning of August.

In the mean time, please keep your eyes open for several changes we have planned within the community:

  • We're hoping to freshen things up with a new layout

  • There will be a poll to get feedback from people writing and watching in the community, we want to do as much as we can to make this a fun experience for you guys.

  • We'll be doing an informational post in the hopes that we can do more to simplify the fic submission process for us and YOU.

Keep your eyes peeled, and we look forward to your feedback in the coming weeks!

Final challenge voting

  • Jul. 7th, 2008 at 11:08 PM
Here is how it works:

1.) The goal of this contest is to improve as a writer. We want positive comments as well as constructive criticism on each fic. Look at grammar, punctuation, flow, use of words, plot development, character development, and the like. Tell the writer what works and what doesn't.

2.) Vote for the best fic and the worst fic.

3.) All submitting authors MUST vote, or they will be charged one skip. They can not choose best/worst fic as their own fic, but they must provide positive and negative about their own work.

4.) ANYONE can vote, it's open to everyone in the community.

EXTRA NOTE: Authors, feel free to advertise in your journals and get your friends to vote! However, do NOT reveal which fic is yours!

Please use the voting form provided below and comment with it in this post.

For the rest of our rules on voting and concrit see our community profile, or the LFAS Concrit Post.

If you have any questions after this, please just reply to this post and ASK them. It's better to ask a question than it is to mess up and have to fix it later.

WARNING: Any fics below the cut may contain adult material. By clicking the cut, you take sole responsibility for viewing the material. If you are a minor, your parents are responsible.

Challenge Change

This is a post to clarify what we meant as adverbs.

You may use no more than ten words ending in the suffix -ly. While we realize that this is not an encompassing definition of an adverb, we think it is a fitting challenge.

If you have any questions, please ask them in this post.

FINAL CHALLENGE: You may use no more than ten adverbs (words ending in -ly), you must use a song lyric (author's choice), and the color blue (this can be used metaphorically or as a motif, it is up to you. However, it must be prevalent in the story.)

Semi-final Challenge Stories )

Round 2, Challenge 5

  • Jun. 20th, 2008 at 6:03 AM
Notice there have been several changes to the rules for the remainder of this round! All changes are in bold, please be sure to read over them carefully.

Due to several people either withdrawing or allowing their skips to expire, this week will be our semi-final challenge, and next week will mark the beginning of the final challenge with the top three competitors. Then the community will be going on a hiatus. We apologize in advance for the abrupt end to this round and hope you will come back when we open up the sign up post for the next round. We should have more information when that will be at the conclusion of this round.

Rules:

1.) No betas.
2.) The story should be between 750 and 1,500 words.
3.) All stories are due by Monday at 11:59 PM EDT. E-mail them to lastficstanding[at]gmail[dot]com.
4.) Include your username and fandom in the subject line and attach it as a text document.
5.) There will be no more skips this round, as it's unfair for someone to skip into the final challenge.

If any of these rules are not met we will ask you to resubmit your story. Everyone should receive a confirmation email soon after they submit their stories, if you don't get one within 12 hours of sending in your story, please send us a new email.

If you have any questions, please ask them in this post.

Week Five Challenge: Original fiction. Now is your chance to craft a story with characters of your own creation.

Reminder

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 2:01 PM
Concrit for this week's challenge is due TONIGHT! Whether you submitted a story or not, you are required to vote, or you will lose a skip.
