Wow, my timing was perfect in finding this comm! I've been interested in lolita fashion for as long as I knew that it was called lolita (easily 5 or 6 years now), but only now am I finally letting myself spend the money on quality lolita items and basically submerging myself into the fashion. Before I was too busy spending my money on Ball Jointed Dolls to notice that I wanted to be dressed pretty too! Before now I was a bit afraid of dressing like this because I've been to conventions where I would be outright ridiculed for cosplaying characters that were Asian and I had to learn to finally get over my stigma as I got into BJDs and people would wonder why I didn't own any black dolls. I know that no one likes having anyone telling them that they can't do something based on their skin color, but I assume that race is probably even more of sour subject for people such as ourselves who very obviously don't follow the stereotypes and probably get made fun of from all sides.
Anyway, less about race, more about me. I am more or less Black (due to the fact that depending on who is telling the story, my Grandfather could have been white, mixed, or albino >_>), I use correct grammar by default, I like musicals of all sorts, I work at Walgreens, have dyed my hair 11 times in the past two years, bellydance in my free time, and spend every other waking moment either on the internet, sewing, or crafting. I'm attending college in the fall where I'll double major in art and business and minor in fashion and I'm currently working on convincing my two friends to let me be the spokesgirl for Alicedoll, their soon to open lolita shop. I prefer bows over maxi pads(headbands) and bonnets over them both. My mom is a hairdresser so I'm well versed in hair care for women of color and working in cosmetics at Walgreens, I know how to match colors and make pleasing color palettes for African Americans. I look forward to using my knowledge in these areas to help lolis who might not know what to do otherwise or have a question or two.
While I adore all aspects of loli and all of the different styles, I prefer classic and sweet and sometimes country. I'm currently working on building up my wardrobe through handmade JSKs, skirts, bloomers, and headpieces while I wait on a few payments to come in so I can order some dresses through Annahouse.
Cookies and cake to you if you read all of that. I can't wait to share my photo whoring with you! Feel free to comment on my journal if you ever wanna chat ^_^ !!!!<3!!!!

This is a pic of me last year when I still had red hair(it's naturally darkish brown) (and before I made it atomic and blinding). I know, not lolita, but it's behind a cut and I kind of wanted to show what I meant by "more or less Black". Because my parents deny that I'm mixed with anything at all...
The hair is sort of loli, right? Anyway, this is back when I was all depressed. Emo Kisha = prep/trendy. Normal/perky Kisha = Decora/Lolita/Goth. Needless to say, my hair is now jet black and my bangs have been trimmed back so I can look more Asian/Loli. Yay not depressed!
Anyway, I do have a question. I haven't checked with my mom yet or anything, but I'm looking for a wig maybe the same color as the above pic (or even a shade of blonde or darker red that someone would think looks nice with my skin) that still has a bit of the texture and feel of straightened curly hair. I'm basically trying to stay away from anything the looks synthetic(plasticy) or feels like Caucasian hair. Any ideas? I've been interested in Cosworx but I'm not sure how their wigs are quality wise. Should I just visit my local urban supply hair store and see what they have?
