last night a friend of mine was studying at lake mirror around dusk, and as she got up to leave she was jumped by three black men who stole her laptop (a macbook pro).

im posting this because one, it would be great if anyone who might have been there at the time could offer helpful information. she ran to get the tag number off the car, but was tripped on the way. she says there were three attackers and two drivers. unfortunately i dont know anything else..

i also wanted to post this as a reminder to please be careful... especially young women who are at the lake or the park. try to avoid going alone- and watch out for those around you. i love downtown lakeland.. but its not always safe. i would hate to hear about this happening again..

i have to say.. i hope she gets revenge on those peices of shit. i have an apple laptop and i seriously think i would devastate someone if they messed with my computer in any way, shape, or form. i thought it was bad enough when i got my 60gig video ipod stolen. i really hope they catch those morons and get her computer back. she definately needs to file a police report. if she knows the serial number on her computer, that would definately help. if they are a bunch of thugs, they probably won't use the computer anyway, they will try to sell it. check ebay (if low-life theives even know how to use ebay), and local pawn shops and stuff like that.. even the newspaper. good luck.

well actually brent maybe; we havent thought of this scenerio, but maybe they were hired by some white nerd to steal some computer? most theives usually get fucked over by their 'fence' and most 'fences' are white. so lets chill out before we start making crazied accusations about black barbarian hordes, crackers just make them do the footwork.

I wasn't making any racist accusations at all.

I will say that I bought a camcorder off of someone in this community ...they never took the tape out of it, and the tape shows them and about 4 other people...from this community, all white... busting car windows out using spark plugs and stealing tools...stereos and whatever else they could find in those vehicles.

How stupid do you have to be to tape yourself doing something illegal? Pretty stupid... but ..how stupid do you have to be to tape yourself doing something, and then sell the camcorder you used to tape it..and then not take the tape out of it.

And I have no idea what this "fence" thing is that you are talking about.

a fence is someone who usually sells stolen goods, usually through their own reputable business. they sometimes hire people to steal or those who steal just knowingly go to them, its like freelancing. theyre called fences because theyre supposed to be the people who u throw the merchendise (sp) over the fence to. they usually fuck over the people who do the footwork and shortchange them, because honestly, who else are they gonna go to.
