I realized there were no videos on youtube which featured "Marching Bands of Manhattan" by The String Quartet Tribute to Death Cab for Cutie: Ghost..and I feel like it's such a lovely song..so I decided to make one using my photos.

Aside from the song itself being really peaceful and emotional, the strings add to the tranquility of it.

I need new friends. I just moved back to Massachusetts after having lived in North Carolina for two years. Is anyone around here from Massachusetts and wants to go get some tea some time or just take a walk around some of the cities or do whatever? Maybe collaborate on some art. I don't know, please let me know.

relax

We all know it can be exhausting to be working a lot over a long period of time. Sometimes when I've been working hard, I can find it hard to relax even though I'm really tired. However, I believe that spending quality time outside work (or in my case, my studies) is important to improve your performance. Whether it is physical labour or hard thought-work, we all need to relax at the end of the day. Here are 10 tips on how to relax after a lovely day of work:

1. Tidy or clean. It may sound strange to start a tip on how to relax with advice to do even more work. I know tidying and cleaning can be exhausting in itself, but for the purpose of relaxing better, I really recommend to spend about 15 minutes to clean the room where you'll be spending quality time. Just put everything into drawers and closets (you can clean them later) and clean the empty surfaces. Use a detergent that smells clean, and you'll fool yourself into thinking that there's no house work to do tonight. It'll be so much better to relax when you are not constantly reminded of what you need to do or should have done.

2. Turn down the light. Not only will this make sure you don't notice the cleaning you should have done, it will also make you more relaxed. When the light is low, there are less sources of distraction. All colors seem more gentle and it makes it possible for you to relax your eyes as well. Light candles instead of electrical light! Spend a little time on making yourself comfortable. It's all in the small things!

There were a few places I thought of posting these, so I hope you don't mind that I chose here rather than spam your friends lists in each community.

This was 'the last ladybird of the autumn', who came to cheer up my lunch break and thus my day.

He lovingly settled on myself and then my friend and having blessed us with his presence made his way off into the big wide world.

It was both lovely and sad to see him go.

I'm having an odd time lately, feeling a little isolated. If anyone would like a friend, who is trying to keep using livejournal but tends to be a sporadic poster then feel free to say 'hi', same goes with tumblr. http://alternativeplans.tumblr.com/

I am a journal enthusiast. I buy them up like crazy, but I have particular tastes. I like the feel of heavy journals. Thick, leather bound volumes with handmade paper, unique graph paper lined journals, unusual textured covers, if it catches my eye I snag it. Recently I started designing covers, just for fun, then as gifts, and now hopefully soon, to sell. This is all leading up to my desire to eventually learn how to bind my own books. *le sigh* I wish the supplies were not so expensive. I thought I'd share my collection of journals, both personal and those made as gifts. Enjoy!

I'm in the middle of exam stress and I really need to be comfortable and inspired to stay sane when I'm studying 12 hours a day. Here are my 10 tips on how to have a lovely day even though you have to be at school, work, study or have other duties. Keep in mind that winter is coming up here on the northern hemisphere!

1. Light candles. Candles are great for giving you a cozy feel! They give a little light to the room and they can make any office look a little homier! I prefer vanilla scented candles, but if you are somewhere else than your own home, you might want to go for the non-scented ones. I try to light candles whenever I'm home. It just makes me happy!
