the club & bar

It has been 10 years since the end of the epic Nationals Tournament. Winning and losing has become part and parcel of life and everyone has gone his own path in life, despite promises of an eternal friendship.

When Atobe's family threatens to take away his empire unless he resurrects the dead L'Atobe Hotel (ranked a disappointing 35th on the list) located in Tokyo, near the Ginza area, and surrounded by smaller hotels and shopping malls, Atobe decides that the solution is to set up a very expensive Club & Bar in the house - with his ex-tennis comrades paid to do the deeds to attract the cash cows.

So now in the L'Atobe Hotel we find the hottest, trendiest nightspot in town - can you last the night?

Whether you're a host, bartender, waiter, performer, deejay, security, events crew member, chef, or spa beautician, the rules are the same. Do whatever you want in the day, but at night, it's time to head to L'Atobe Club & Bar. You're free to hold another job in the day or to work part-time or full-time as you wish. You can either stay in the apartments for L'Atobe employees or have your own apartment elsewhere. Whatever you do in the day does not affect us and whatever you do, just remember to turn up for work at night.

It's back to work tomorrow, so make your time here worth it.

the rules

1. This is not an AU RPG so while it is set 10 years down the road, characters should more or less retain traits from the PoT animanga. Please keep in mind your character would be between the ages of 21 and 26, so think how he/she might act then.

2. Be 15 and above. Seriously. We can't stop you from lying in your application but we can find out.

3. Proofread your application before submitting.

Why? (Because some people will ask, "Why?")

Three rules for three reasons really. One, we care about characterisation. So if you submit an app that's obviously not in-character and it gets scrutinised and sent back, don't say we didn't warn you.

Two, this RPG may be set in a hotel but the concept of this community evolves around a club and bar. We love crack but we're not going to deal with fluffy issues every day - there's going to be sex, booze, nudity, maybe drugs and sex. It's okay to be a little squeamish about this sort of thing but if you're the sort who really can't bear it, this isn't the community for you.

Three, we'd like to be able to understand you. Proofread your application before submitting 'cause if there are too many errors, we're going to assume you're not comfortable in the English language, thus rendering you unsuitable to participate in this RPG. And if it's messy, we might reject it on the grounds that it irritates the eye. So proofread. This goes for logs as well later on in the community.

the trivia

1. Due to the successful implementation of a spamming policy, there is a strong commenting culture here in L'Atobe. We would like to say, "If you don't comment here, you die", but melodrama isn't our style and nobody really wants to force you to comment on other characters' journals anyway. However, commenting is seriously good for the soul. So do it. Often. Frequently.

2. God-modding is uncool and doing so will land you on The Naughty Step. For your reference, god-modding = dictating the actions of another player's character besides your own. The first or second time, we may either close one eye or send you a warning depending on what a great day we're having. The third time you do it, prepare to banished.

3. NC-17 logs have to be friends-locked, and if you dislike proofreading, contact one of the mods and we'll do it for you. Logs should be posted in the following format:

With, of course, the main content put under an LJ cut. If you don't and your log screws up the community layout...well, we take it that most people are nice enough to fix it. Immediately.

4. Participation in the comm consists of weekly blog posts and a log every two-month cycle, and not meeting the requirements will result in a strike. Again, for your reference, a strike = something your character will have to post about, as dictated by the mods.

5. Just so you know, going on semi-hiatus here in L'Atobe does not protect you from strikes. Semi-hiatus to us simply means that you will not be commenting as much but you will still be able to meet the weekly posts. As long as you can't meet the weekly posting requirement and don't want to get a strike, you should be on hiatus. When you come off hiatus as well, make another post. We totally do the whole 'waving wildly' thing here when people return.

6. This is redundant but has to be said: no original characters and no killing off of characters. Yes, even if it's your own. Just, no.

7. Picking up a character that was dropped means the storyline starts over.

8. Only character journals will be allowed to join the comm. Players, take note that while it is not a requirement, we would recommend that you have AIM.

9. L'Atobe was created primarily for the purpose of having fun. Angst is appreciated but IC drama should be kept IC - we will come down on you if you don't. There should be a healthy balance of angst and crack in any case, and if at any time we find that your character is causing too much trouble in the community...well, we'll dock your pay.

Similarly, OOC drama should be kept out of the community. If, as a player, you cause too much trouble, we won't hesitate in asking you to leave. It's not that hard to be a decent person.
