The planned updates have yet to materialise due to other commitments. However, I have not forgotten the long list I set myself. I am looking to include some more studies I have carried out and add more content to the website.

| 2004 updates |

Despite the promises made in the last entry, some significant changes have been decided upon in the last 18 months. Due to a lack of time on the author's part there has been little progress aside from conforming to new regulations as much as possible.
The photo gallery has been abandoned due to the vast range of gallery software already available online. It is a possibility that this service will be removed in addition to the photo gallery pages.
The neighbourhood pages have still not had many submissions. It should be noted that these pages only list existing website addresses and redirects - not new domains. I am not registered to create new domains so please visit my Internet Service Provider XCalibre for those services.
Any suggestions or improvements are gratefully received.

| Progress to date... |

As stated in the previous entry 'Kyren Web' was transformed into 'Lairs' at the end of January. The new design was implemented without incident and content is being included at a steady rate.
In the past few months (apologies for not updating sooner) the photo gallery has been under development with phase one well on it's way. The final few requirements are being implemented and the gallery will be released shortly. It must be noted however that space is limited so accounts will be given on a first come, first served basis. More details to follow on phase two (planned to contain an offline creation facility). Comments will be appreciated on this service.
The Neighbourhoods are quiet at the moment containing only a few sites although they are in place. A change in the conditions means the Neighbourhoods will also be used as a kind of directory listing with websites as well as redirects. I'm looking to promote these later in the development period.
Some time has been set aside to add content to the Internet section which is partially completed. Many more studies will be included as time progresses and your help to verify their accuracy will be an asset (I will always act on constructive criticism). I am trying to write the guides in simple language so everyone can understand.
So, to summarise, the new layout of the website is split into 5 main sections: Sitemap, Website Design Tools, Information, Services and About Lairs. Website Design Tools contains Colour Guides, HTML Guide, Picture Source and a list of useful Resources. The Information section contains projects and studies (as mentioned above). The Services section contains the Neighbourhoods/Dwellings, a list of External Services, Photo Gallery and Redirects.
Any suggestions or comments will be gratefully received and my thanks go to everyone who has been involved in the transition of the site.

Kyren Web is now Lairs and the new design has been released. Over time I will continue to bring the tools inline with the design and add additional sections.

| Kyren Web to become Lairs |

Following the announcement that Kyren Web is to be reduced to a single domain it has been decided to rename the website Lairs and dispense with the title Kyren Web. Therefore, as soon as the new design is released, this community will be used to add updates, suggestions or comments for Lairs.
The new design has been progressing steadily and the format is now decided upon although the addition of content will take longer to implement. The new design (possibly without some of the new content) should be released by the beginning of February, if not before.
Continuation of the neighbourhoods onto the new combined website is happening although only six from Web Heaven and six from HellBound have been chosen. Provision of redirects will be still be suspended until the new website is in place. There will be a form included to allow redirects to be requested directly.
Some of the old facilities which were still under development have been removed in favour of concentrating on developing specific facilities including the HTML Guide, Photo Gallery and a section on the Internet.

| Major Changes to Kyren Web |

It's been a very busy year with work and College commitments so it has been decided to change the format of Kyren Web to reduce the workload required to maintain the website. This falls in line with financial difficulties allowing streamlining of the services available.
With this in mind both web-heaven.co.uk and hellbound.co.uk will be discontinued. The services offered within each of these websites will be transferred to lairs.co.uk although the website will be a single section rather than 3 areas as it is currently. This will allowed more concentrated development on the website including enhanced content and avoid duplication.
Continuation of the neighbourhoods onto the new combined website is yet to be decided and provision of redirects will be suspended until the new website is in place. Once a decision has been made on the content of the new website details will be posted here. Any suggestions or comments will be gratefully received.
My apologies for any inconvenience caused but this is a necessary step which should be implemented early in the new year.

| Progress Update 6/8/02 |

Unfortunately it has been a long time since my last update and I can't apologize enough. It's been frantic with one thing or another and I am hoping to make some more visible changes shortly. Validation is still continuing and I am still importing in the new template for consistency.
I have a lot of plans about what I want to do such as the admin section I would like to add to allow changes to be made to the redirect settings plus, of course, the picture gallery which is somewhat devoid of pictures at the moment. I should have some time soon as I will shortly be on holiday so I will update again then.

| Progress Update |

It has been a long time since I updated this community about the progress I have made on the website. Unfortunately I have not had a lot of spare time to work on the website but that should change soon.
I am not planning any radical format changes this year to the site but I am planning to work on improving the content. I have been doing some research and am looking to get something in place by the end of September. I will keep you updated.
I have developed a template for the website in general which should make the overall look more consistent and also reduce development time. Testing should also be more thorough so there will be less broken links than there have been recently.
Hope you are still enjoying the website.

| Website Link Checker |

As part of the continual improvement of Kyren Web I have entered into a free trial to check all the links in the website & the rating in the search engines. By removing broken links I hope to alleviate some of the frustration associated with browsing the site which has been reported to me on various occasions.
Kyren Web has an archive section which is linked into the design section showing how the website has evolved over time. This section has a lot of links to external websites which, over time, tend to disappear and it is a mammoth undertaking to remove all the broken links. I have decided to remove the majority of the external links from the history section which should reduce the scale of the problem.
Validation of the pages is still underway and I would appreciate any feedback if the website does not operate as you feel it should.
I will try to update again soon.

| Website Update |

There hasn't been much progress on the website recently except a complete change concerning the details in my last post. Thanks for your patience.
I have decided to dispense with the stats4all statistics as it is slowing down the website considerably and also is not entirely accurate. Therefore I am procuring another web statistics analyzer to run on the web server statistics. I will add more details here when it is online.
I have decided against sending monthly newsletters since I am somewhat disorganized so I will simply add updates to this community instead. This will be the What's New? section of the website as well.
There will shortly be a complete overhaul of both the HellBound and Lairs sections to bring them in line with the Web Heaven section. This should mean that the pages are all validated with no broken links but do tell me if this doesn't happen or if there is anything you would like to see in addition to what is already there.
I will update again when I have more news but until then. Happy Browsing!

My apologies for not updating this community sooner with updates on the progress of the website but hopefully, now that Christmas is over with, I should have more time. Thanks for your patience.
Unfortunately most of all the changes I have been making are still being tested at home on my PC but I hope to release them soon. One addition that is partially visible is the Stats4All logo on the Kyren Web pages. The logo is a small ball in the top right hand corner next to the search link. If you click on the logo it will allow you to see the hits to the website since I added the logo. It's quite comprehensive and there is an overview for quick viewing.
The poll I created on Smartgroups is now closed and the results indicate that a monthly newsletter would be the best option. Hopefully I should be able to get this organised soon and will put a link into the current newsletter within this journal.
I will keep updating this journal with more current information between the newsletters to avoid filling up your mailboxes with junk.

| Kyren Web Changes Internet Service Provider... |

After much consideration I decided to change the ISP I was using to host the website to XCalibre and it's thanks to them that there was very little loss of service over that period. There should be less outages but let me know if you spot any problems.
I have loads of ideas for new sections on the website (merely a lack of time if I sleep as well) and am hoping to get a lot more realised during the new year. Currently I am validating the code to allow consistency throughout the browsers (as much as is possible). I test the website with Internet Explorer 5.5 & 6.0, Netscape 4.75, Opera 5.1 & the latest download of Mozilla. If you use a different browser and notice a problem please let me know.
The redirect service is up and running currently although I have yet to complete the admin section to allow change requests. Therefore to request a web or email redirect on any of the three domains (web-heaven.co.uk, hellbound.co.uk & lairs.co.uk) please send an email to admin@DOMAIN (where DOMAIN is one of the domains) and I will set up the redirect accordingly.
