Today

Today was hot.
I think my skin is a little sunburt because I went out at noon.
The cold drink I bought from a vending machine tasted excessively good.
The picture is "The Bluff Set"
A way to feel like you're drinking cold water even if the water is lukewarm.
1, Take 5 Mintias to your mouth and chew
2, Drink lukewarm water
...How's that?
After 10 seconds, come back to reality.
That's it. This was a story about "The Bluff Set".
ps. If you drink cold water after trying bluff water, your throat will hurt, so be careful.
ps.'s ps. Really, it's ho... cold.1

Notes: ・This is a pun; in the beginning of the entry, he talked about the hot weather, but in the end he was almost about to say it's hot, but said "cold" instead, as if the atmosphere had turned cold because of his "story". Not sure how to explain that well, but the word (寒い/samui/cold) can be used in response to bad or poorly delivered jokes, not just to talk about the weather, so that's what he meant here.

That's right, there are over 100 members in this community already! Thank you so much everyone ― even though I started this community mostly as a place to stuff my random translations to, it's actually quite motivating to see that so many people have found my translations interesting enough to join the community.
If you ever have any feedback or questions regarding the community, the translations, or translating from Japanese to English in general, feel free to always comment on any of the posts in this community. I do read every single comment and enjoy reading them even if it's just a random comment about the translations, so don't worry about cluttering my inbox with comments (because I like it, haha).
Also, please remember that I have a separate community for translating Matenrou Opera's Sono's blog entries, skyscraperopera! I'm also looking for people to translate the other members' blogs, so check out the community.
Remember the request post too! Lately I haven't had time to translate much and I've had computer problems, but hopefully they're fixed now and I can soon get back to my favourite hobby. :D
Again, thanks for joining, everyone!

Band: Atmos*note Song: rainy-park/雨色公園 (rainy-park/ameiro kouen)
rainy-park/raincolour park lyrics: Sakamizo Anzu // music: Atmos*note
Without an umbrella in the rainy park, I stand endlessly, getting soaked.
Words resounded somewhere afar, but they were drowned out by the sound of the swing. I'm weary of being so weak as to not be able to take in the brilliance of the flowers that bloom in the rain.
The sweent scent of the hydrangea fills my lungs and I feel like throwing up. The puddles become mirrors, plunging into my aching heart.
(I can't stand it anymore, being here. Take me somewhere else...!) My voice can't reach you and becomes one with the waterdrops which continue to fall on my weak shoulders.
-- Little by little, the clouds fade. -- A ray of sun glimmered faintly. -- A streak of green sparkled innocently.
In this park which is sloppy from the rain, I closed my eyes quietly. I dream a gentle dream.
(Goodbye. I loved you. Thank you for the sweet consolation.)

Band: DaizyStripper Song: Brilliant Days.
Brilliant Days. lyrics: Yuugiri // music: Kazami
Memories of you who are far away The days when we could laugh together The seasons change the years again Only the night wind is gentle
I remember the thousands of tears The warmth of joined hands It won't fade away Because the turning world engulfs us both
I love you, more than anyone else My praying left hand seizes the stars If this voice of mine reaches you Under the same sky, coloured by the stars I'll shine
You acted strong, saying "I won't show tears" Truthfully, I loved you because of both your strengths and weaknesses
I stop and turn around, and look Our footprints are scattered Even now, I pray you're going toward a bright future, Not the dark past
Embrace me, with all your heart My loving right hand seizes your hand You're gentle and loving If you see that star in the wavering night Remember me
I will love you forever Our story will not scatter If one day we can meet under this sky Even if the tears will overflow I can say, from the bottom of my heart "Thank you" "I love you"
I'm glad I could meet you
Like on that day, The sky is beautiful... The stars are beautiful... You are...
Notes: ・ This is such a beautiful song with painfully beautiful lyrics, that I don't think my awkward translation is even half as good as the song would deserve. I guess it's better than nothing, but still skdjfds. D:

Band: GLACIER Song: うりずん日和~レイニーデイ~ (Urizun hiyori ~Rainy Day~)
Early summer1 weather ~Rainy Day~ lyrics: Makoto // music: Nao
For some reason, at nights when I can't sleep I hear the echoes of my childhood I glance the television and, as it happens, The unsure forecast is rain
Little by little, the sky clouds over Without an umbrella, I'm waiting impatiently
It starts raining
It's slightly cold
But it sweeps over me gently
I'll spend today here, like this
The sky that was clear and unpleasant at noon Soothes my heart now Slowly, it cools down The burning, painful memories2
The hot rays of the sun raise their voice But one day, it'll become cloudy again
The tears of the sky pour down beautifully Tonight, there is no need for the Moon nor stars
The rain holds back its voice
Today, shedding all of its tears,
Does the sky cry together with me?
Because I know that after rain comes clear weather
I want to get soaked, just like this
Will the rain wrap me up?
Will it become sunny tomorrow for sure?
Notes: ・[1] The word "urizun" is an Okinawan word meaning the time of the year from around February-March to the beginning of the rainy season. It's considered a beautiful and nice season, because it's getting warmer but it's still not as hot and damp as when the rainy season begins. ・All the members of GLACIER are from Okinawa or Ryuukyuu in general, and they use a lot of Okinawan expressions in their speech, song names and lyrics, hence the use of "urizun" here. ・[2] Literally this is not "memories" but "time", but the idea is pretty much the same and it sounds better as "memories" in English, at least to me.

The 757th story
Almost every morning, I've seen the retreating figure of a lovely girl at the platform
Today, I thought that I want to admire her face I passed her by and took a glimpse
And actually "she" was a bandman
A person in the same business as me, eh?
Please return my youth
Please return the money I spent at Yoshinoya1 every day cheerfully waiting for the first train
Please make the ushisuki2 meals cheaper
・ original ・
Notes: ・[1] He actually said he was eating "yoshi cattle", but that just means he was eating at Yoshinoya so I changed it to that. |D ・[2] Ushisuki is a meal at Yoshinoya, not sure what it is though and don't have time to google for it now, but it does contain cattle. Haha.

Band: Seciliaルナ (Secilia Luna) Song: 白百合の賛歌 (Shirayuri no sanka)
Hymn of the White Lily lyrics: Hinata // music: Shin
I will never forget the flower that bloomed on that day Because its petals were white and beautiful, like the innocent you Let us return to the place with no sorrow or pain, together
The overflowing tears changed you into beautiful petals And then you disappeared to the other side of the sky Smiling gently like on that day, you are a white lily
"One day, in the place where made a promise… Soon we can meet"
I wish I could become like the sun that just continues shining
The overflowing tears changed you into large petals And then the landscapes were dyed white In full bloom like on that day, you are a white lily

Band: Seciliaルナ (Secilia Luna) Song: 流星の花びら (Ryuusei no hanabira)
Petals of a falling star
Waning moon, please illuminate the dark night Setting sun, please, just a little longer [1]
Light pours down gently wrapping me up A bird spreads its wings and flies to the sky [2]
You scatter transiently embraced by the petals If my voice can't reach your figure, dancing in the wind I want to at least soar up to the sky
Falling star, please grant this wish
You scatter transiently embracing the petals Even if my voice can't reach your figure, dancing in the wind
The moon illuminates the dark night The sun pours down its light The star grants my wish Because I will not leave you again Please, let me soar up to the sky
Notes: ・ [1] 'Waning moon' and 'setting sun' are usually written with the kanji 行く, as in 欠けて行く月 and 沈んで行く太陽, but in the lyrics the 行く is replaced with 逝く. Both are read yuku, but while 行く means 'to go; to proceed', 逝く means 'to die; to pass away', so it's more like "dying moon" and "dying sun". (I'm sorry about the bad explanation, I hope you understand what I mean. D:) ・ [2] 'Sky' is normally written with the kanji 空 (sora), but in the lyrics, it's written 天 (ten). The word 天 can mean 'sky', too, but it more often refers to 'heaven' more than 'sky'. He sings sora in the song, however, so that's why I translated it as sky and not heaven. ・ I'm sorry that this translation sounds a bit weird here and there, some of the expressions he used were kind of hard to put into English, especially for a self-taught Japanese student whose native language is far from English. Notes: ・This was my first time translating an entire magazine interview, so if you spot any mistakes, do point them out to me. ・Magazine translations are an enormous amount of work because you can't just copy/paste the words you don't know into a dictionary, and this was the longest text I've ever translated, so please show some appreciation for my hours of work and don't steal the translation. If you want to post this elsewhere, just link to this entry, it's public anyway. ・Of course, comments are very welcome and appreciated. :D
