Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas will not appear in the Théâtre du Châtelet production of A Little Night Music due to a foot injury.

Variety reports that Thomas ("The English Patient," The Seagull), who was to star as Desiree Armfeldt in the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical, has bowed out of the Paris production. Italian actress Greta Scacchi will step into the role and perform the musical's signature tune, "Send in the Clowns."

Lee Blakeley directs the English-language production that is set to run Feb. 15-20, 2010.

The cast also features Leslie Caron as Madame Armfeldt, Lambert Wilson as Fredrik Egerman, David Curry as Henrik Egerman, Rebecca Bottone as Anne Egerman, Francesca Jackson as Petra, Nicholas Garrett as Count Carl-Magnus Malclom, Deanne Meek as Countess Charlotte Malcolm, Celeste de Veazey as Fredrika Armfeldt, Damian Thantrey as Mr. Lindquist, Kate Valentine as Mrs. Nordstrom, James Edwards as Mr. Erlanson and Daphné Touchais as Mrs. Segstrom. ...

» In short, Kristin Scott Thomas has suffered some foot injury, therefore she won't be able to perform in A Little Night Music, sadly. To whom the part of Désirée Armfeldt will go now, is going to be announced next week! Those are some really sad news!

Received Pronunciation has been increasingly marginalised by Labour during its decade in power with the result that Kristin Scott Thomas, tired of being consigned to endless period dramas in her homeland, has taken her cut-glass accent to France.

"There is a big difference between the characters that I play in English films and in French films," says the 49-year-old actress, who resides in Paris. "All the Brits seem to want me to do are period things, which are quite dramatic and severe, but the French don't see me like that. Just have a look at Partir."

The French film, directed by Catherine Corsini, certainly represents a startling change of pace for the actress: she plays an adulterous and homicidal wife.

Hello Everyone,

I am now the new co-mod of this lovely group. To be honest, I really don't know how to do this. But I thought I'd volunteer and lend a hand. I am also a student at university so my time is limited too. If anyone else has more free time they are more than welcome to take over from me, as long as you ask the lovely [info]anne_figo .  I will try to post some piece of interesting KST news each week, if there is any. I just looked through this week and nothing was really jumping off the page. I will also try to post a few piccys of our lovely lady each week too. Again, YOU are ALL welcome to post and contribute to our group. We don't want it to die :(

Here's a lovely photo from "I've Loved You So Long" just to get us started. KST broke my heart in this performance, it was really brilliant. I think she was unfairly snubbed at the Oscars.

Well, I am terribly sorry that I am not able to update more often these days, but I am rather busy. I just have started university and takes almost all my time. Even though I wish to be more active here and keep you posted, I am not sure how I can do this. I'll definitely try to.

This brings me to the reason of this post. I am looking for a Co-Mod, somebody who would like to update regularly and tries to keep this community active. I would hate to see this community die.

So if anybody feels interested, drop a comment here or PM. I am sure we can work something out! I would really appreciate your cooperation. Thanks!
